OMG - THEY ARE COMING TO KANSAS CITY:woah: NOVEMBER 9. I CAN'T FRIGGING BELIEVE IT:stunned:

Well, now - isn't this just the perfect excuse to go and replace your program that got stolen in STL!

Why yes it is :-D. Now, how do I persuade hubby I need to spend a couple hundred more buckaroos next week to see a group I've just seen:? Yep, he's really gonna go for that.

I have to say this is what is so annoying about these concerts. Couldn't they have just put out some 'master plan' of concerts and then tweaked them. Honestly, if I had known this (although it was wonderful to meet Brooke) I would not of gone to St. Louis.

I feel your frustration,TBSF. I was thinking of posting the same frustration. I bought tix for Chicago before St. Louis or Milwaukee was announced. Chicago is closest for me, but I probably would have chosen St. Louis if I'd had the choice. The United Center is a nice venue, but it's not in a very safe neighborhood.

Oh, man, that is so aggravating tbsf! I feel your pain!

Now I am going to have to try to talk hubby into going again! It probably won't work though. Too many buckaroos already spent on them! :headshake:

I'm thinking I'll go but just buy cheapo tickets and resign myself to listening more than watching. Is anyone else thinking about KC?

TBSFanatic,

My wife and I went on a marathon back during the Farewell tours. We caught 15 of them I think. Be kind of nice to see them again.

We might just head on up there to KC for that show in November. Kinda hard not to make plans for it since it's so close. We can get a free suite at AmeriStar, watch the guys do their thing and slip in some VP and BJ all in one trip. We even talked about the Omaha show too.

I'm working on getting Monday off. Would hate to have to drive back to Wichita after the concert.

Sounds good. What is VP and BJ :? I have no idea :headscratch: lol. To be honest, I keep going back and forth about whether to go or not since I'll have to get a cheapo seat and so will mostly view them on the screens

Was you mind possibly sinking just a little toward the gutter?

VP: Video Poker
BJ: Black Jack

If we go to KC, we'll be staying at AmeriStar (a casino hotel) and undoubtedly, I'll get in a quota of both games as well as the concert.

Do you think your wife would mind a stowaway in the luggage? Wow-15 shows during Farewell---I'm not worthy!!!

Welcome to the board--you most definitely need to post some of your experiences here for all of us to admire!!

10 minutes before tickets go on sale for KC. I see the ticket prices are ranging from $49 to $149. Still thinking about it:hmm:

TimothyBFan
09-29-2008, 11:01 AM
tbsf--I know you just spent $$ on going to another concert but that is really good prices. If they were close to me again, if nothing else, I would at least get a $49 seat. I wouldn't be able to pass that up. Just my 2 cents!

Oh man, the cheapo seats are :censored:. Grrrr! I'm thinking of holding off and seeing if something better comes up last minute??????? I see on the ticketmaster 'ticket exchange' two front row tickets are going for $1000!!! Yep, I think I'll just pick up a couple of those:stunned: (secretly, of course, I'm thinking 'get them' - lol).

TimothyBFan

This isn't all that far from me so I thought I would just see what I could pull up on ticketmaster. The first time I did 2 tickets (just in case hubby were willing to make another trip this soon and a little farther than last) got section 4, row 1 which is on floor but in the back, but when I tried for 1 ticket, I pulled up section 2, row 5, center stage on the floor. :enraged::enraged: How I wanted to hit buy but couldn't do it without discussing it with hubby and guess I would want him to go too. :brickwall:Why did I even tease myself that way?

tbs fanatic

I tried several times with different price levels and didn't get anything fantastic. I did get one on the second row of the first balcony but it was $99 and if I'm paying that I might as well pay another $50 to get on the floor. I think I'm just going to keep trying and see what comes up.

Mike, looks like you are in with a shout. Good luck, and with the Poker and Black Jack!!

TBF and TBSF I would go for it if I were you. You may not get as good a chance again in a long time. Maybe someone could make a Christmas present of the tickets??:angel::angel:

There are many who think the release of tour dates in dribs and drabs
is done on purpose by the concert promoter to encourage diehards to
spend megadollars to attend multiple shows. I've seen this done more
than once, most often by Live Nation, the huge concert promoter.

People commit to buying tickets, airline arrangements (some non-refundable), hotel reservations, and vacation time away from work
only to find out a few weeks later that the tour is stopping in a city
only 2 hours away or even in your hometown. So, now you MUST go
to that show too! It's so close. There is a method to their madness!

I'm not saying this is what is happening with The Eagles tour. I'm just
saying that a lot of time, it happens for a reason. ($$$$$$$)
I'm also a big fan of The Who and when they toured in 2006, the tour
ended up having 3 different legs. However, they were announced
separately and each time we thought that was ALL the dates, then
another leg was added. This lead to much grumbling over at The Who
message board, but it was just the way it was handled.

P.S. My wife and I wound up driving 6 & 1/2 hours from Kentucky to
Atlanta that year to see The Who on THE DAY BEFORE
THANKSGIVING. We ended up having our turkey and dressing
at a Crackelbarrel along the interstate on the way back home
on Thanksgiving Day. (Hey, at least she didn't have to cook!)

What we won't do sometimes for our Rock "fix"! Rick

So true, Rick - so true. I agree that the way the show dates are announced is indeed part of the marketing strategy. However, I can only speak for myself, but I really can't blame them. It's the old supply and demand thing and it works. If fans didn't want to go to the shows, then they wouldn't go. When I decide that I am going to a show, I know there is a possibility that another one may come closer to me. I also understand that if that happens, then I will be there. For myself, whenever the guys start announcing dates, I figure they will hit most of the major markets in the region. I just decide how many shows I can afford to attend, what city (or cities) that I want to go to, and then I just go for it. Then a little voice inside my head says "Don't look back, you can never look back".

10-06-2008, 04:11 PM
LOL. I'm sure that is the marketing plan but I'm still ticked off. All the money I spent on the St. Louis trip/ticket would of bought me a front row ticket in KC :scowl:

The jury is still out for Verna and I on making the concert in KC. We may just decide to parlay our funds and wait for Joe to announce something in Vegas or some other venue. Neither of us is very excited about getting nose bleed tickets and we are not ready to shell out exorbitant amounts for good seats.

Now, if we happen to be up in KC and decide to extend our gambling natures a bit, we just might head for the box office and set up camp for no-show tickets just before the start of the concert.

I'm thinking about going to KC, too. IF something good comes up.

The Springfield show was sold out within an hour and a half and I never could come up with anything I thought might be decent. They also never had a seating chart available. I won't buy a ticket not knowing where it's at, but evidently lots of people did.

That is a brand new arena. Does anyone think there will be tickets come up later?

Do you mean the Springfield arena? I don't think the KC arena is brand new. Since your son is in Springfield - can he get the inside scoop on the arena? Seating plan?

I'm not very happy though. Hubby's boss called and asked us to go with them and they had the tickets already. They are on the side in the lower bowl. I really wanted to hold out for decent floor seats, but what could we do?

I know it will be fun, but..........

Oh yeah, I'm not going to KC after all. :-(

The hubbies boss called a couple weeks ago and said he couldn't go after all and he hadn't bought the tickets yet anyway! Geez! I wondered where he got decent tickets, cause at the time, behind the stage was coming up for sale. I wasn't buying those. I think he was confused about where they were.

It's not working for hubby to get off work on Monday and it's a terrible day for me to miss, too. So, we're not going. Bummer.

Brooke, I'm sorry you're not going to be able to make it to the KC concert. I know how much you wanted to go.

We did too. But things kept getting in the way. We made reservations, cancelled them and then made them again an actually tried for a couple of different sets of tickets on eBay. They were not good seats and for the price, they would have had to have us sitting on the stage next to Joe with one of Joe's guitars in my paws before it would have been worth it to me!

So, we're flying back out to Las Vegas instead! Can you believe it, and this is NOT an exageragion, it is cheaper for us to rent a car and fly to Vegas for 5 days than it is for us to go up to KC overnight and attend the concert! Ya think that they might start thinking about finding some happy median ground for ticket prices?

Mike and Brook, Im truly sorry for both of you. I wish I could go but it doesnt look like it's going to happen this time, unless they make a surprise u-turn! but even then, like you said Mike. the ticket prices are so outrageous! If they were over this side tho, I'd find away, might have to sell an kidney, but I'd be there *G*

Sorry to hear that Brooke.

And Mike-I know what you mean about ticket prices. I'm still undecided myself about Cincinnati. Everything I pull up on ebay is not as good as I want if I am going to pay at the very least $400.00-$500.00, plus 2 days pay taking off work, hotel, gas. If we hadn't done it in September, I'm sure I wouldn't be debating with myself but this close to Christmas and everything... I don't know.

While my wife and I really do like Vacationing in Vegas, I'd NEVER want to live there. The traffic is Horrible. And the casino action would get very boreing after only a little while if you lived there.

It is a tremendous "break" from day-to-day though and we do enjoy going.

So sorry Brooke and Mike. I don't think I'll be making it either (and it's only an hour away for me) :-( It's a mix of I don't have the money for a good seat, Sunday is not a good night for me and just being busy with family stuff right now (I could also throw in the 'ticked off I heard about KC after driving 5 hours one way to the St. Louis show' - but no, I won't ). Is there anybody else looking at making the KC show?
