Carla--I've been meaning to ask you. You come up with some very different bands that I've not heard of. I really don't listen to much new stuff myself, but I am interested in how you find these more, shall we say, obscure (I'm guessing here), bands?

TBF, some of them I have found on Amazon, when I'm just listening to some band and it recommends another band I may like. Others, I have found on my Pandora radio station. And Wilco, I found on YouTube. Also, my 24 year old son has introduced me to bands I otherwise would never have heard of. One of the joys in my life is discovering bands I have never heard of, and finding that I am falling in love with their music!:nod::heart:

Very cool! I guess you could say I get into a rut, not that I'm complaining. I love all the music I listen to and have found some newer stuff I like (Nickelback, Incubus, Theory Of A Dead Man) but I guess I don't give much of a chance to different stuff. This reminded me---our local radio station has something called retro rock---They play part of a song by the original artist then play part of the remake of that song and callers call in with who did the remake. We were outside the other evening and they played It's 5 O'clock Somewhere by Jimmy Buffet and then the remake. I screamed it's Alan Jackson and Larry looked at me like I was nuts as I ran to the phone (no I wasn't the 9th caller). Then he said, "how would you know that?". I had to explain (like he doesn't already know) about the ridiculous amount of Rock trivia that floats around in my head at any given time of the day.

I haven't been able to quit listening to Chris Rea for 3 days now!! Spoke with Lou about this and wonder if the rest of you have some recommendation.

I knew of his album called What Ever Happened To Benny Santini with Fool (If You Think It's Over) over 30 years ago but that was about it. He never did much else here in the states. A friend posted something on his Facebook of his and I found a version of Fool and then it took off from there. I never realized what a wonderful voice he has. I'm mesmerized by it all of a sudden and in trying to find more stuff from him, found out he has put out more than 25 albums! :shock: I hear I must get Road To Hell but any other suggestions? Next record show in June I plan on going on a massive hunt for his albums.

Paolo Nutini is beautiful! I have a friend that still holds over my head me dogging her and another friend when they went to one of his shows. I had asked for too many days off that week and didn't want to be up late and back to work early.

I started my Don Henley is 63 playlist for his birthday week. I always do the same number of songs as he is years old. I started with his version of Mark Knopfler's I'm The Fool which although I put it on iTunes a while ago I had not actually heard it. He referst to MK as a songwriter he admires who is a great guitar player & then says 'I think this is a great country song. See what you think'. I thought he did it justice although as a Knopfler freak I prefer the original. Anyway I am still at the beginning of the playlist - the next song is Miss Ghost.
