I was just looking at Glenn's songwriter credits on the Hall of Fame page, and there were some songs I didn't recognize. They were the following:

AIN'T NO LOVE
Writer: Jack Tempchin, Glenn Frey
Publisher: Red Cloud Music

BOBBY BLUESMAN
Writer: Glenn Frey
Publisher: Stephen Cannell Music

DON'T QUIT
Writer: Glenn Frey
Publisher: Red Cloud Music
Description: 1 sound cassette + lyrics sheet
Music Date of Creation: 1988

GET UP KATE
Writer: Glenn Frey
Publisher: Red Cloud Music

GRAND CANYON SOUNDTRACK
Writer: Glenn Frey
Publisher: Red Cloud Music
Description: 1 sound cassette.
Notes: Collection (music)
Date of Creation: 1990

I WON'T TAKE NO FOR AN ANSWER
Writer: Max Gronenthal, Glenn Frey
Publisher: Irving Music/Red Cloud Music/Too Tall Tunes

LET'S GET HARRY
Writer: Glenn Frey
Publisher: EMI Worldtrax Music, Inc.

WALTZIN'
Writer: Scott Crago, Glenn Frey, Max Gronenthal
Publisher: Irving Music/Red Cloud Music/Too Tall Tunes

WHEN I HURT YOU, I HURT MYSELF
Writer: Max Gronenthal, Glenn Frey
Publisher: Irving Music/Red Cloud Music/Too Tall Tunes

----------

I know that Max Gronenthal is Max Carl. I assume "Let's Get Harry" was for the film of the same name, "Bobby Bluesman" was for Wiseguy, and "Grand Canyon" was for Expedition Earth. As for the rest, maybe these were songs that were registered, but never released?

That's an interesting list. It would be intriguing to know if any of them were released. What is also interesting is that four songs and the Grand Canyon soundtrack are credited to Glenn alone. When I looked at No Fun Aloud, it struck me that All Those Lies is the only song of all his published solo work that doesn't have a co-writer. Agua Tranquillo is the only other track I can see.

I would love to hear Get Up Kate lol!

lol! I thought of you when I saw that title, Kate!

There are a few more that he wrote by himself that aren't from his solo career. Those are Run Boy Run and Rebecca from Longbranch Pennywhistle, and Chug All Night and Most of Us Are Sad from the first Eagles album. After that, he and Don Henley began writing together in earnest, and it seems that Glenn never really wanted to go back to writing alone. Hence we have only two songs - one of which is a 1-minute instrumental - written solely by him. Then, recently, we have No More Cloudy Days, which I believe he also wrote without collaborators. It will be interesting to see if he comes full circle with the new album.

I don't know if the first song listed might be 'Ain't It Love'. I suspect those others might be from Max Carl's album.

"Ain't It Love" is listed separately from "Ain't No Love," and I've checked Max Carl's albums and didn't find the above. However, it's possible I somehow missed one.

Well, maybe he wrote them years apart or something! Besides, if one isn't released, it doesn't count, right? lol

That Millenium concert music list looks amazing. Was any of it ever released? I've listened to the main theme from your site, Nancy, and gives a tantalising glimpse of what the rest might be like.

I think what Nancy has is the entire thing. The music was incredible and very GLENN. He writes great soundtrack music as the stuff from the millennium show and Expedition Earth can attest.

As for the film, it was really well done. There's sort of a description of it on our Millennium show page, but until the Eagles bits started in the 70s, it was just a great collection of period images and quotes. It showed a lot of thought on Glenn's part.

Hehehe...I've had a rough, VERY long couple days at work/battling the never-ending internet problems...but the words "new album" just totally made up for that. ;)

Wow--I really, really want to hear these!! I agree with your guesses about "Let's Get Harry" and "Grand Canyon Soundtrack", but the rest are definitely mysterious. "Waltzin'"....now, I could be wrong, but how long has he worked with Scott Crago? Somewhere in the neighborhood of 6 years-ish? Because then, this song would have to be relatively new. I don't know for sure, though, and that doesn't really help identify it or anything. :) Just my one observation aside of some of these being written by Glenn alone, which I agree is interesting and awesome.

PCG - Scott Crago was with the Eagles for the HFO reunion so he has been working with Glenn, at least since 1994. I don't know if they had worked together before then.

Oh, good, so I haven't missed it. Thanks for the lead to the Millenium feature in the Archives. There are some great photos there as well.

He co-wrote the F1 intro as well? He is certainly an inspired composer.

I hadn't realised that NMCD was a solo composition either.

It just makes you long for more, doesn't it?

I've been wasting a lot of time surfing today, and found a reference to a film called The Lonely Guy, from 1984, with Glenn credited as a songwriter. Does anyone know about this, and could one of the mystery songs belong?

www.allmovie.com/cg/avg.dll?p=avg&sql=2:25057 (http://www.allmovie.com/cg/avg.dll?p=avg&sql=2:25057)

No mention of Smuggler's Blues or Ghostbusters on this site - looks ripe for a bit of editing!

And I should probably add I have a page on it here (http://www.glennfreyonline.com/solo/guest/lonelyguy.htm) which gives the lyrics and a bit more songwriting information as well as a link to the album itself at the bottom.

Saw the movie for the first time just last night. It started out funny but soon lost its charm and by the end I was glad I had gotten it used for only a few bucks.

Well, I have to admit, I wasn't that quick. I had coincidentally put it up just before you asked - it's just good timing on your part. lol

And while it would have been better with Glenn singing it, I like this version, too. There's a lot of emotion in the song.

I think this is probably the oldest thread I've ever revived, but poking around for information about "Everybody's Gonna Love Somebody Tonight," I found more unreleased "Mystery Songs":

It looks like "It's Time to Get a Lady" might have been an unreleased Longbranch Pennywhistle song.

As for "Road Story" - the description says it's 15 pages. What was Glenn up to?

I think Road Story was a play. I found some info on it here. (http://www.lib.utexas.edu/taro/tsusm/00038/00038-P.html)

Thanks for digging up that link!

[The papers include] a prospectus and treatment for “Road Story” an aborted project [of Larry L. King's] with Glenn Frey and Jimmy Buffett, put together by the New York producer Rocco Landesman.

Very interesting! In the past, Glenn has expressed a desire to write scores for film/television/plays etc. I wonder if this was along those lines? Too bad it didn't come off!

What would be wrong with him attempting to revisit those 1995 songs, which were written at the same time as the other 'new' Solo Collection songs? I shake my head in disbelief.

Blue Flame is on Jack Tempchin's AFTER THE RAIN cd. It really could've been an Eagles track back then and the chorus harmonies with Frey, David Crosby, JD Souther and others are just amazing.

Too Much Drama was supposed to be on THE LONG RUN when that album was still being referred to as WHAT WOULD ROBERT MITCHUM DO. I'm guessing this was being bandied about in late 1977 or early 1978. Another song mentioned at that time was "Party Dress," supposedly a Glenn Frey song along the lines of "Lyin' Eyes."

House Of Love, I'm totally unfamiliar with.
