I was listening to James Gang Rides Again today and, as "Ashes the Rain and I" started, I was reminded of the intro of Waiting in the Weeds. Anybody else think they sound a little alike? Not a whole lot, but vaguely.

Perhaps a tad.

I have to listen Ashes The Rain and I again, lol.

EDIT: fast edit, it's sounds a little bit to Waiting In The Weeds, I agree.

Im thinking that both songs are written in minor chords and are acoustic making them sound somewhat similar. I find (IMHO) that Ashes, The Rain and I is a bit more intense and pensive sounding then Waiting in the Weeds, which has a much calmer, more settled mood. Most of the Eagles songs I have learned are written in G Am and C chords with D and Dm and F# and B# thrown in.

Waiting in the weeds is G Am C D Em and F for the most part. I was unable to find chords for Ashes, but I assume it's pretty similar. If anyone has the chords for Ashes, I'd love to see!!

I'm home now after a marathon of casino hopping out in Las Vegas and Laughlin. I may have the chords to AR&I. I'll check later. Right now, I just want to get the pictures transferred from the trip and kick back (that means SLEEP!) :fainted:

Sorry Ticky, I was not able to locate either the lyrics nor the chords or TAB for ATRAI. I'm kind of surprised. It really was one of the Gang's signature songs with Funk #49 leading the way.

Had a great Vegas getaway. Except for a car wreck we were involved with about 15 minutes after we'd left the Car Rental Terminal! Some young man in a Mercedes rear-ended us. No one was hurt. He admitted to the cop who was working the accident that he was totally at fault. There was no hassle at all for us with the rental car since the accident report clearly stated fault along with a citation to the poor kid who was looking at an engine warning light instead of the car in front of him. We had to slow to an almost stop to allow the car in front of us to make a right hand turn. BAM! Really messed up the front end of the Mercedes but hardly scratched the TOYOTA RAV4 SUV we'd rented. We didn't even take it back to exchange it for another vehicle.

Had a lot of short sleep nights last week! Played a lot of blackjack and a little Video Poker.

From a music standpoint...a band called the "Speak Brothers" performed on the stage between the Fitzgerald's and 4-Queens Hotels on Fremont Street in downtown Las Vegas. We were staying at the 4-Queens so it was convenient to stop and listen to them play. They were really good. One of the musicians in the band had been with the Oakridge Boys forever and was playing with this group now. They really were excellent vocally and instrumentally. Played mostly 70's covers.
