OMG you beat me to it LOL!!! I was just coming here to post this!!!

I had a very, very good feeling, so I made a point of checking the Casino Rama website today because they said their schedule would be posted today...I am going to both shows!!! (Now, how I'm going to swing that moneywise, I don't know, but I am going!)

I just started jumping up and down and screaming. ;) I have a very injured knee, and jumping up and down was probably a bad idea...BUT I CAN'T HELP IT!!!

You have no friggin' clue how happy this makes me...

It is MEANT TO BE that you go, obviously. Oh my GOSH. I am looking at hotels right now. They don't tell you how much the rooms cost at the actual casino, which usually means they are too expensive for we plebes. lol

Oh, it absolutely is, LOL! I finally wrote the letter to him that I've been intending on for a year now...and I think I'm gonna put a rush on sending it just on the offchance... ;) "I believe in second chances...I believe in angels too..." ;)

I know we looked at the prices for the hotel rooms because I was so exhausted last time, haha...I believe they're around $200-$250, which yes...definitely too expensive...! The biggest problem with that venue is that there is absolutely *nothing* near it. I'd suggest looking at Barrie, Ontario...it's outside of Toronto by almost an hour, but it's much closer to the actual venue than the city would be, and I'm sure has some cheap Travelodges or Comfort Inns or something.

Dang it, why do they have to go on sale on the 13th??? I won't have money 'til next week at the earliest! LOL...the last time, it didn't sell out until the day of the show, though, so I'm not so worried...I just want to see those tickets in my hot little hands.

Aww Irene...I know...I think that is such a stupid rule. It's because you can walk anywhere inside there with your alcohol...but I don't understand at all why they connected the venue to the casino so that the *only* entrance is only accessible through the casino!

(Well okay...they want to lure concert goers to slot machines and bars...still not fair though. ;))

They could've at least made a wristband system or something. You know, if you're under drinking age you get this glaring ugly plastic wristband or something, LOL...ah well. Incidentally, the only place alcohol is not allowed is within the concert hall, which I THANK GOD for. I've been to too many shows that were almost ruined or at least seriously impaired by drunken fans (like my first Fleetwood Mac show where the people were yelling at Stevie to shut up during Goodbye Baby  ), and although of course that still means you can get drunk and then go in, you can't further the drunkenness while you're in there. But I digress.

Awesome that you made your mom into a fan though!!! :D Hooray for converting people to our side! ;)

Oh my gosh. What a horrible day. I have not gotten any tickets at all, because unfortunately, real life interfered! If you want to hear the sob story, read on. If not, just skip it, 'cause it's depressing.

Well, I knew today wasn't the best day for this. I had a meeting from 11:45-12:45. It was informal in that it was intended to give feedback on a dissertation to one of my friends along with three other people, but she has done the same for me, and I owed it to her to do the same for her. However, I decided I would type up the comments, print them out, head over there early, give her the comments with my apologies, then run back to do Ticketmaster. This was not to be.

I tutor as a sideline and I had an appointment with a South Korean girl to help her on a very important presentation for her department - she is a graduate student but struggles with pronunciation and smaller aspects of English grammar. Unfortunately, because it was such a big deal, she was very nervous and we wound up having to practice for a much longer time than originally planned. I didn't want to tell her "Time's up, I need to get tickets" because this presentation was important to her, so I just kept quiet, helped her, and tried not to look at my watch. By the time we were done, it was past noon.

So, I'm late for the meeting, too. I run to print off the comments in the computer lab, but the printer is down! Run a couple floors down to the next one - also down! I only find this out, of course, after logging in, which alone takes 5 minutes at least, closer to 10 sometimes with these slow machines. It's 12:30 by the time I print the comments out and run over to the Union where the meeting is. But they must have disbanded early because they were gone! Feeling terribly guilty, I spent some time looking for her, then finally dropped it off in her mailbox.

Now it's 1:00, and I suddenly remember I have an appointment with the scheduling deputy for class assignments for the summer and fall! I run up to the third floor, get my assignments (MAYMESTER is MINE!) and then it's 1:30. So I think, now I have some time before my students come in for their paper reviews at 2:30. THEN I REALIZE I LEFT THE PAPERS AT HOME. I rush home, get them, come back just in time. NO BREAK people. Now, at 4:00, I have a 15 minute break before the next student, so I took a chance and looked - no luck. :( Guess I'll keep checking back. SO SUCKY!

Next student coming in. SIGH.

All I can say to this is I hope you all have a good time.

I made the mistake of saying to my mother yesterday that I envied people going to all these shows, and she said 'grow up'. It's not easy for someone like me who can't do this. I don't believe I will ever see Glenn solo. It can be difficult living down here, so far away from anything.

I made the mistake of saying to my mother yesterday that I envied people going to all these shows, and she said 'grow up'.

Oh Julie...I'm so sorry. My family can be the exact same way--my mom still doesn't know I actually bought my ticket with my own money, as far as she's concerned, other people are buying me tickets...dang, I have some rich friends in her mind! :) If I told her that the shows mean more to me than having new clothes or other extras...she'd flip right out.

And I also know the whole living too far away thing...Glenn is very very very unusual, coming up here for no apparent reason. In general, if I know someone's touring that I really want to see, I start laying down plans right away to go to a U.S. show, because 9 times out of 10, they won't come here. And when they do? Double the price (hi, $250 for 10th row Eagles!). I understand... :( Hopefully one day he'll make his way down there..!

Julie, I do know how you feel. I was pretty sure I'd missed my chances of ever seeing Glenn solo or seeing the group live. I've spent the last 1 1/2 years being very envious of everyone's concert experiences. I'm still pinching myself that this is for real.

Geography doesn't have to be the thing that gets in a person's way. The Eagles have been practically in my backyard more than once. Sometimes it's just life stepping in. I'm grateful for this "second" chance -believe me!

I'm sure we all wish you could be there with us this summer. But never say never! Ya just gotta believe!

I agree Julie - never say never! Keep your fingers-crossed. Even if Glenn doesn't book any solo dates Down Unda, I have a strong feeling that the Eagles may be back to see you one more time. And you just never know when a trip to the states may be in the stars for you!

Now - as far as my family, I have a somewhat opposite problem. If I told them I was going to any Eagles-related show, my two sisters and three nieces would all expect to share the 'excellent adventure' with me. However, tickets are too expensive to be buying for all the nieces, and we can't take one without taking the others - nevermind the travel expenses. I am really hoping that the guys will come close to my home one last time so I can take them. But, in the meantime, these shows have to be my little secret.

Awesome idea dreamer! I of course don't drive and live here, so doesn't apply to me, but hey... ;)

A couple more suggestions: Either change your money on the US side of the border, or use US currency here. DO NOT change it at a bank here, and don't bother with travellers' checks because nobody takes 'em. I need to call the casino regarding something else anyhow, so I'll double check with them if they take US currency up there or not. If you change the money here at a bank, you'll incur at least a $3-5 service charge in addition to the exchange rate (which is currently $1CDN = 87cents USD, which it's been for about a year now). If you change it at the airport or any other foreign exchange place, you get horrendously ripped off exchange-rate wise and will also incur a service charge of a certain percentage (usually 3%) on what you change over.

I'll warn you about our money, LOL...$1 coin is called a loonie, $2 coin is called a twonie (we're tiny, we're tooney, we're all a little looney...er...um, I digress), a $5 is blue, a $10 is purple. Doesn't get to normal money-lookin' stuff 'til the green $20. ;) Don't get anything over a $20 because nobody takes 'em.

Also prepare for the fact that our highways are *not* well signed. If anyone's interested, I can post directions from Buffalo to Rama--rather than Mapquest, which is all fine and good except they've gotten me lost before, especially at the border (they don't always say the right/closest/easiest bridge to use and don't always put you right on the highway). Once you get on the highway to Rama, you're fine and Rama is clearly signed, you can't miss the turn-off...but everything else? You'll see a sign for the exit coming up in 100 kilometers and then another sign for the exit when it appears. Seriously.

I'm sure everyone knows this but it surprised one friend of mine so I'll pass it on...you will need 2 pieces of ID to cross the border, driver's license alone is *not* enough. License and birth certificate should do it, but if you have a passport, bring it--the customs people are dumb and given to creating passport-required laws at random.

Rama is *not* in Toronto, it's a good 90 minutes to 2 hours north of Toronto. They just like to bill themselves as being in Toronto. :) Add that in to your travel time, and watch out--*especially* for the Friday show, traffic on the highway that leads to Rama will be very, very heavy with people going to their cottages. Allow a lot of time.

Let me know of any questions...I'd be happy to update people on the gas prices at that time as well, as someone suggested over there on Eagleland. If anybody wants to post this on Eagleland, be my guest, I don't have an account there so yah... :) Oh yes, and Lisa's right, Buffalo is a much better bet--Toronto is the most expensive airport in the world to fly through, thanks to them randomly tearing down a terminal and building a new one.

3 months today!!!!! :D

PinkCoatGirl, it would be great if you would post directions from Buffalo to Rama. I agree about Mapquest not always being accurate. Dreamer and I had no problem getting from San Francisco to Sac, but couldn't find our hotel following their directions.

Ugh, Mapquest can be a pain. They're fine on the highways, but once you're in the city, they're inconsistent at best. Thanks for all the advice and tips, guys.

PCG - It would also be great if you could let us know if the casino will accept U.S. currency. I didn't want to have to bother with exchanging currency, but I will do it here if it is going to be necessary. The last time I was in Canada (many, many years ago), I think most places accepted U.S. currency, and were quite familiar with converting it at the exchange rate. Thanks for offering to get this info for us. :)

Okay...I come bearing a little news, anyways! :)

US currency is *not* accepted at the casino (except possibly a couple restaurants, but he said even then, you're probably better to change it), but can be changed over at the cash cage thing (where you'd exchange chips for cash or vice versa, I guess). So I guess you're safe to just use US currency everywhere else and change a little over at the casino...I imagine they probably charge a fee although the guy didn't tell me that, and dreamer, you're exactly right--most other places don't have a problem with it.

As for directions, I'm going to have to get a hold of an actual map, hehe, because the main highway you'd use to get east to Toronto before going north to Rama looks to be closed that weekend, at least partially...so I'm going to have to find out where it's closing and how to get around it, and then I'll let y'all know for sure.

Less than 3 months! ;) And I finally was able to get my ticket for the Saturday show, although it doesn't bear repeating...I'm in, like, 50th row. *sighs* Ah well...at least I'm dead center, and I'll be there!

Julie-

I'm coming in a little late on this thread (too much work lately--ugh!) but I am sorry about what your mom said too. It is so annoying when your family doesn't "get it." My younger sister lives in Atlanta, and last summer when Don & Stevie came there, I called her and asked if she would go with me as a favor. She agreed until I told her I wanted to buy the best tickets and then she blew a gasket, going on & on about how stupid it was to spend so much money on a concert, why did I care about this man so much....you know the drill. It really made me mad so I told her to forget it. Thankfully Lynda/sillykat emailed me and agreed to go with me, and we had a great time.

As someone else expressed so eloquently, I too will be living in "envyland" (insert picture here--Don singing "It's Not Easy Bein' Green") as many of you go to the UK and Casino Rama and other places to see the guys this summer---but thank goodness for this site and Eagleland, so we can live vicariously through you! Have a blast--I KNOW you will!

Hmm...I really thought I replied to this! LOL! Speaking of flaking out... ;)

I CAN'T WAIT for Michigan!!! I just got the time booked off from my current job, although it looks now like I may have a new one by that time...ah well. The "family reunion in Detroit" excuse seems to be a good one, so I'll just haul it out again. ;) Truthfully, it is believed that my dad has relatives in Detroit somewhere so...we'll just go with yes, I do have relatives out there...and one of them happens to have a last initial of F, rather than D. ;)

All those lies...I hope I can remember... LOL! Thankfully, I *am* a good pretender...particularly when it comes to Glenn. Anything with the right incentive right? 2nd row...I have NEVER sat that close for any show in my life!!! So excited!

And Timfan, you're darn right...he's not gonna know what hit him! "Ack...last year, that crazy blonde chick was alone...this time she brought reinforcements!!!"

This is quasi-related to our Glenn Groupie "tour"... I went to a sort of "Stevie Nicks convention" for fans recently, and they had a comedian up there doing a routine, and he said: "I always swear when she tours that I won't follow her around the country this time. I ask myself, 'Do I really want to spend that kind of money? Do I really want to spend all that time? Do I really want to lose my job and apartment again?'" lol!

Now Stevie fans can be a bit more extreme but Glenn Groupies might begin to relate, eh? ;)
