Casino Rama doesn't have high speed dial up and I just now figured out how to get online through dialup by calling the hotel desk. A cute guy came up to help us so it's all good!

Rama was terrific, although he dropped the two covers (Some Kind of Wonderful and I Hear You Knocking). We thought it was because of a time limit, but when we chatted to one of the security people, they said there was a time MINIMUM. Oh well, we still had a blast. We actually got to go up front as early as the second song, Lyin' Eyes. Some brave souls went up and after watching for a minute or two to see if they were sent back, I stood up. A nice elderly lady who was a security guard grinned at me when I looked at her questioningly and waved me on. I don't need any more encouragement than that. I was off like a shot. Bree, Lissa, Kay, and Sheryl were right behind me. I don't know who else came up at that time although I did see L&M at the very end, so we were really representing up front!

Being so close was VERY cool. We got to see all the facial expressions, sweat, even spit! lol And the sound was so good, but I think it might have been everywhere. Once again, a very powerful performance and vocal delivery. He seems more intense when it's just him. Very focused. We had a wonderful time. Again, we're pressed for time, so not too many details now. Like Pebble Beach, once we do get time, you will get DETAIL OVERLOAD. lol

The only negative - the fact that you guys can't be here. :(

Just got back from the last show - we only got to go up front fo the encore this time, but Glenn still was great, as usual. He joked even more than usual, mostly at his own expense, but he had the audience cracking up, even though comparatively they were absolutely dead! He did say he didn't know if he'd ever be back, which had me a little bummed, but at least I got to see him. As you guys know, more details later!

We wait with bated breath... How awesome to get up so close to him!

And if anyone could afford to buy me a t-shirt (loose fitting, medium), I would repay them through Paypal plus postage etc. To have a Glenn tour shirt would be a small compensation for not seeing him live!

Well i'm back from Rama! I only went to the saturday show but..it was pretty AWESOME! As Nancy said got to get up to the front for the encores which was more than i ever expected

After the show I managed to get Victor (Glenn's Guitar tech) attention and asked him if he remembered me from london. He stopped looked at me and then said "yeah actually i do!" i was amazed and i had a gift for him of a purple bracelet (which is the bracelet to support epilepsy) so i gave it to him and then asked him to give another purple bracelet to Glenn for me! which he said he would!

The show itself was great Glenn made many jokes especially when his guitar went dead right before a song and they had to wire him right to the amp! Victor to the rescue!! and we gave Victor a huge ovation for that! Glenn made the usual plantiff joke. As well Glenn was drinking Yellow/Green Gatorade and made various comments about it including he should get an endorsement deal for this!! Glenn sounded a little hoarse at times but after 3 shows in 3 days i'm not suprised! he is working awfully hard!!i guess the biggest thing that just shone thru for me the whole night is Glenn's charisma is magnificent. His facial expressions and laughter are just priceless! It was was a wonderful time and i loved meeting everyone!!

Thank you TF.

Did he still sing the new song without a guitar? Did he have most of the backing band including Steuart?

Yes he did do the new song without the guitar, it was very sexy!! and he had Al Garth, Wil Hollis, Micheal Thompson and Scott Crago with him but no Steuart.

Btw I also remembered he dedicated NMCD to his daughter Taylor. It was soo sweet!!

And I'm home.......for a few days......................... ;)

In light of recent events, and thanks to a very generous benefactor LOL.....I AM GOING TO ATLANTIC CITY!!!!!!!!!!!! I CAN'T BELIEVE IT....I LEAVE TOWN AGAIN IN 4 DAYS TO SEE GLENN ONE MORE TIME!!!!!

Ahem, that had nothing to do with Rama did it? Right. ;) I wouldn't take the "Don't know when I'll be back" comment too seriously....you know, if they are going to seriously go back to work on their album, they may be busy next summer, you know? At Mt Pleasant he specifically said "We're not done."

Those of you who would like the T-shirts....as I am going to Atlantic City, I could TRY to obtain you those. I'm not sure at all how much cash I will have, likely not much....if anyone is willing to advance me the money, PM me and I will set my Mastercard up to receive it, but I can't guarantee I'll have the cash on my own first, lol...I am honestly only able to go to this show because someone else is loaning me mucho moolah to do so. Up to you...I would be happy to do it if I can.

Oh gosh...what to say, what to say?! My mind is a blank! LOL! I have NO VOICE thanks to last night... Early on in the show, I have been informed that my ridiculously loud "WE LOVE YOU GLENN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" made it AT LEAST as far as 7th row, HAHAHAHAHA... And then of course, my signature YBTTC shriek. ;) Apparently it was in fine form, LOL, which it had better have been seeing as how I ripped my voice on it and I sound like a frog with tonsillitis!!!

Glenn Frey is a beautiful, beautiful man. There was plenty of unpleasantness from the people in the seats around me, I was way up top so my seatmates blew, they weren't real fans at all... But ohhhh he and his lovely voice more than made up for it. I really felt as though his delivery on certain songs, like the new "I Love To Watch A Woman Dance" and "Some Kind of Blue" was extra-personal last night, it was funny...he spoke more words than usual in that sensual tone of his...siiiiigh. ;)

As for Friday night...oh my gosh. Oh my gosh. STAGE SIDE from the start!!! When I first came in, the same security witch who gave me trouble last year took me to my seat and told me I needed to stay in it, no running to the stage, no standing, no nothing. Well, people started up in the middle of Lyin' Eyes...SONG NUMBER 2, and were allowed to stay. After waving Kay, Sheryl, Nancy, and Cece (sp?) down to the stage and watching them go and stay there and dance away in front of Glenn.....I decided I just had to go along, and forget the consequences. So I went. AND I STAYED. ;) Oh, it was incredible, absolutely incredible, adn we got a few looks and smiles despite the freak directly in front of him who decided it was his personal time to hold a conversation with Glenn. ;)

Oh my gosh. More later...I literally just got in a few minutes ago and haven't even checked my e-mail or anything else yet, so I ought to do that!!

~*She'll always be...the girl from yesterday...*~

My friend and I: "Nice coat Glenn!"
Joe Walsh, at next pause between songs: "Hey, nice coat, Glenn."
Glenn: "Thanks, thanks...yah, I picked this up at the..Liberace garage sale, glad you like it..." ;)

Wonderful review, Bree. Sorry you had unpleasantness the second night (makes you wonder why these people bother) but so glad to hear that Glenn made up for it. He continues to rise in my estimation!

OK, I have just discovered - to my GREAT dismay - that I did not write a detailed review of the Rama shows. However, PLS and I did jot down some memories afterwards. I dug out that old notebook that I have kept with my other Eagles memorabilia so I could post those, at least. If anyone wants to supplement this, feel free!

PLS, PCG, and I were all staying at the casino's hotel. Everybody else was staying at another one, so we were kind of on our own at first. Luckily, before the show, we were able to get together with Dreamer, Molly, and timfan - and the festivities could begin.

First night

If I recall correctly, Glenn was dressed in his shiny gray suit and lookin' good, as always.

I had a pretty good seat. I think it was the eighth row. However, I was soon to abandon it. We went up to the stage during the second song, "Lyin' Eyes." After the song, Glenn said, "I wasn't quite ready for the big rush down to the stage during that hard rockin' 'Lyin' Eyes'." We laughed. "I assume you all have seats," he added. I was sure he was going to send us back, but he hesitated, then said, "Well, do me a favor - make sure that the people in the front row can still see the show." The first row applauded enthusiastically at this remark. Then Glenn mumbled, "Eh, they're all comps anyway, to heck with 'em." LOL

The next song was "Some Kind of Blue." He went over to the piano to play it. He started up, opened his mouth, then just sang "lalala, lalalalala." He had obviously forgotten the words. He stopped, laughed and said, "Those people walking down the aisle distracted me! What are the words again? Oh yeah, sunny day! One more time. Sunny day." He grinned sheepishly, then started playing again - doing it right this time! He was laughing throughout the song, though. Too cute.

Before "The One You Love," he joked, "This is from my first solo album, which should've been called 'Prelude to Obscurity.'" Of course that wasn't a new joke, but it was still funny.

This was back when "I Love to Watch a Woman Dance" was something NO ONE had heard before. He introduced it with, "I’ll do a new song for you... The Eagles have been working on a record for a long, long, time. I don’t know if we’ll ever get it finished, but we're getting a little closer this year, we had a little push, and we have a few more songs recorded, but we don’t know what’s gonna happen. But this has been kind of sitting in the can, and I’m going to play it for you now." Oh my gosh, we were all so bowled over. His voice was magnificent. I feel so priviledged to have heard it live.

Around this time, some folks shouted "WE LOVE THE SIX STRING!"
Glenn laughed and replied, “I’d love for you to play it for me, I’m about half-way through and my hands are sore.” Poor Sugar!

To our amazement and delight, on that tour, Glenn played another never-before-heard song: "I'll Come Runnin' Back to You." I remember PLS and I later desperately trying to recall every single lyric so we could transmit it back to those who weren't there! You know, I just realized I hadn't put these up yet on GFO (http://[url]http//www.glennfreyonline.com) either. Wow, I was remiss after that show. (But many of you remember why - poor PLS had a heart attack right after we got back from Rama, in my apartment. Thank goodness she's fine now.)

Anyway, here's how he introduced that song:

"Another song that’s new... I don’t think you’ve heard it before unless you’re really like southern r’n’b aficionados – this was done by a legendary guy named Eddie Hinton – friend of mine – English drummer – the English have been very good about helping us understand American rhythm and blues – otherwise we’d just have Pat Boone’s version."

Here are the lyrics PLS and I recalled:

I’ll Come Running Back to You
Folks say that you've found someone new
To do all the things I used to do for you
You just call out my name, I'm not ashamed
And I'll come running back to you

Can't sleep at night, I can't eat a bite
When you were mine I didn't treat you right
[Sorry, darlin’.]
You just call my name, I'm not ashamed
I'll come running back to you

Just like a king who’s lost everything
I sit all alone on my throne
I've got my pride, but deep down inside
I'm yours and yours alone

I try to forget, have no regrets
This love of ours could always start anew
You just call out my name, no, I'm not ashamed
Yeah, I'll come running back to you
100 miles... 10,000 miles... all around the world...
I’ll come running back to you

I’ll come running back
I’ll come running back
Oh, I’ll come running back to you

Yes, I will
Just give me a call!
Doesn’t make no difference where I am
Los Angeles, Colorado...

I’ll come running
I’ll come running
I’ll come running back to you
Running back to you
Running back to you
I’ll come running back to you

And there our notes end, sadly. I can't recall many more details, but I sure remember the feeling I had standing up there at the front. It was like a dream come true for me. I had already been to one show at Mt. Pleasant, but were off to the side. It was nothing like being right at his feet, right in the moment with him as we sung along and danced with looks of pure rapture on our faces.

For the curious, here was the setlist:

Peaceful Easy Feeling
Lyin' Eyes
Some Kind of Blue
The One You Love
Silent Spring / Tequila Sunrise
I Love to Watch a Woman Dance
No More Cloudy Days
Take It to the Limit
I'll Come Running Back to You
You Belong to the City
Smuggler's Blues
Who's Been Sleeping in My Bed
The Heat Is On
Heartache Tonight
Take It Easy
Desperado

Afterwards, Dreamer, Molly, PLS, PCG, and me all went and hung out at a bar... actually several, as we kept closing them down... and relived our experience.

Such good times!

Some memories from the next day:

Once again PLS and I seemed to miss the boat ;) when it came to hooking up with people on Saturday morning. Part of this was because our rather busy night had made it quite difficult for us to "rise and shine." Another part was that my cell phone didn't work in the hotel, making it impossible for me to call folks and know where to meet up.

Nevertheless, I managed - in my Nancy way - to make a fool of myself.

Here's the story:

While walking through the casino lobby, PCG saw Will Hollis and Danny Grenier heading towards an elevator. She ran to catch up and PLS and I hustled after her, a bit more slowly, lol. We caught the elevator they were on.

So, we're on the elevator, and we're just standing there awkwardly, scared to say anything. I think, "This is ridiculous," so I turned to Will and Danny and said "Great show last night." They thanked me. I tried to think of something else to say but struggled... mercifully, the elevator stopped and the doors opened. I thought it was our floor and hopped out.

Then, I saw a sign for the pool in front of me. "Huh... this doesn't look right..." Then it hit me - I'd gotten out on the wrong floor. For some reason - and I don't know why - this caused me to go in a panic. I turned and screamed "THIS ISN'T OUR FLOOR!" Everyone on the elevator - including Will and Danny - was like "Um, calm down... it's OK..." Meanwhile, PLS and PCG started to come out after me, looking uncertain. I cried again - this time flailing my arms - "NO, THIS ISN'T OUR FLOOR!" However, since I had made no move to get back in the elevator, preferring instead to act like a madwoman, they came out anyway.

The doors started to close. Someone, I don't know who, grabbed them to open them, but by this time there was mass confusion and everyone was certain that I was insane. PLS and PCG just allowed the doors to close again and calmly said, "We knew it wasn't our floor, Nancy." "WHY, WHY, didn't you TELL me!" I cried. PLS and PCG were looking at each other and I could tell they were thinking something along the lines of "Did Nancy forget to take her meds or something?"

Mortification hit me full force and I turned so red that a guy passing by asked me if I was OK.

I had the pleasure that night of having Danny Grenier point at me and mouth "Elevator girl" during the show.

I sure know how to make myself memorable.

I'll try to remember more about the second night, but with no notes, it's hard!

And thank you Molly and Z for pointing out the 3 years anniversary of Casino Rama. What a great time we had. I think it was all of our first Glenn solo shows, and it definitely brought a smile to my face as I reread this thread. OMG - I can still remember how excited I was for weeks both before and after these shows! When I read the reviews now by fans who are so excited about a show, I can soooo relate to how they are feeling.

Soda, your real-life escapades rival your dreams for degree of hilariousity! Having read on past the elevator incident in the thread that PM quoted, am I to understand that it is standard protocol that the Borgata in AC allows fans to rush the stage at concerts? If so, I may have to pay them a visit! I have actually never seen a show there, believe it or not...

ev - I'm not Soda, but since she wasn't able to join us in AC at the Borgata, I'll comment on your question. I hear that it is pretty common practice there to allow fans to rush the stage. When we saw Glenn there, Molly, Karen Z, and I were literally right there at the edge of the stage at Glenn's feet. We even joked that we were so close that we got spit on. The security people were very helpful - before the show, they gave us a "hint" about when they would let us go up.

When I saw Joe there, they actually sold general admission standing room only tickets which I loved. I got pretty close to the stage then as well, but not as close as I did with Glenn's show.

Okay - I'll try to keep this as G-rated as possible. I don't know how many of you remember the character that Alec Baldwin created on Saturday Night Live called Pete Schwetty. It looks like YouTube has taken the video of the skit down, but here an audio clip. It is hilarious.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jUxRrzVs8vM&feature=related

Anyway, what does this have to do with Glenn? Well, at the Borgata show when Glenn was performing Desperado, he felt the need to have an er ... shall we say ... 'front-end adjustment'. As we said earlier, we were all standing right smack in front of him so no one missed it. I thought my eyes were going to pop out of my head. However, apparently some of the others witnessed the same thing happen a week earlier at Casino Rama, but I had missed it then. In any event, we dubbed these as the "Pete Schwetty" moments.
