Some of you guys know I got a promotional copy of the Soul Searchin' video that was sold on Ebay, but my VCR chewed it up. Well, a visit to the Purdue University audio/visual department, some special equipment and doctoring, and ouila! It's good as new!

There is a new beginning I hadn't seen before that answers some plot point questions I had. (Glenn seems to like those little video "intros" to the songs like he has in Sexy Girl and True Love.) It's here (http://www.glennfreyonline.com/multimedia/videos/SoulSearchin.mpg) if you want to check it out - but as with all the high quality videos, it's fat - 55 megs.

Yay! I'm so glad they were able to help you with that. :D

Yeah, at first they were a little reluctant because it was obviously non-academic, but they were both young men, so I played the part of the helpless female who needed the help of the brilliant A/V men or she'd just break down and cry. "Oh, but I don't know where else to turn, I figured if anyone could help me, it would be you, with all of your expertise..." Yep, it worked. ;)

Wow, that is awesome. Thank goodness for computer guys!

Great quality, and touching that she's holding their baby at the start - makes more sense of when he's watching the people in the park.

Thanks for posting that one, Nancy!

Yeah, it made me go back and correct some things in my little summary. I had assumed he wanted kids when he saw the scene in the park, not that he was reminded of his own.

Because I'm a newbie on this site I have to look at so many things and I just found this video. It's a heartbreaker! I've never heard this song before. So romantic *sigh* So I'm going to get the album asap :)

EF - I highly recommend the Soul Searchin' album. I think it is a very good listen overall. However, No Fun Aloud and Strange Weather are still tied as my favorite Glenn solo albums. I love them both even though they are very different. :)

Thanks for the tip, Dreamer. I bought No Fun Aloud and Strange Weather a couple of weeks ago and Live in Dublin as well and I love it. My favourite song from the live CD is River Of Dreams, it's awesome.

I agree with all of the above sentiments. Strange Weather and No Fun Aloud are tied for my favoirtes as well, but Soul Searchin' is certainly worth buying. As for River of Dreams... one of my all-time favorites. My only disappointment with the recent tour was that ROD wasn't played, but I knew it was a longshot, and I got everything else I wished for, so I certainly can't complain! I tell ya, that tin foil hat with the antenna that I use to psychically send messages to Glenn is finally working.

Since you're new - EF - I'm totally kidding!

Ummm Soda, you forget that we've seen you in that tin foil hat!

Personally, I like Soul Searchin' better than Strange Weather. And no, it's not just because of some of the back up singers.

Well, I guess I can let you in on the secret EF, but keep it on the down low. The CIA is watching me and if my invention gets into the wrong hands, it could cause a disruption in the space-time continuum that would mean the end of the world. ;)

Would you like to elaborate on that Karen? It's interesting that someone could think there's a better album than SW! SS is my least favourite Glenn album! And yet, as usual, it does contain some of his best songs...

The last time I heard Working Man I thought 'this is all very well, but Springsteen and Seger do this stuff so much better'.... I don't know why the album is so inconsistent. I like Let's Pretend We're Still In Love but it's really not that great, and Can't Put Out This Fire is too repetititve. It's Your Life is far too mushy. Etc.:(

Soul Searchin's problem is that it's uneven. You have gorgeous songs like Some Kind of Blue, True Love, It's Your Life, and I Did It For Your Love, but you also have the wretched Two Hearts. Still, as I said before, definitely worth buying.

I tend to enjoy music more when it makes me think of things I've experienced - both good and bad. When a song takes me back to a good memory or special moment and can make me smile, then I can honestly say I enjoy the song. I judge each song individually and don't expect there to be any type of theme within a CD (unless we're talking about something like Tommy). In my mind, songs are written one at a time and not with eye on what other tracks they will be with.

Rarely will I enjoy every song on a CD. I have found that as my outlook changes over time I often can relate to songs that I didn't care for earlier.

Is this a simplistic approach? Absolutely! I spend eight hours a day analyzing financial data, oversee a two family investment property and manage all of my mother's investments. The last thing I want to do is disect something that I'm expecting to give me pleasure.

Of course, there are exceptions to everything. A certain long-haired bass player comes to mind here. ;)

Sweetie, cutting that man up would be pretty far down on my To Do list!

Can anyone tell me if Soul Searchin' has been sung by anyone else other than Glenn? My husband has just heard Glenn's version and is convinced he's heard it before by someone else. Can anyone help me out with this?

sodascouts

Not that I know of, RG. But Glenn deliberately made it in the style of artists like Al Green, so it could be that your husband is associating it with that.

I felt the same thing when I first heard Lover's Moon. I was SURE it was a cover of an old standard that I'd heard before. It was only when I saw that it was co-written by Glenn Frey that I realized it was only because the song was simply in a very familiar style that I believed I'd already heard it.
