I know Joe has a cameo at the end of the movie, but now there's this rumor going around that he had the lead guitar on Gimme Some Lovin' instead of Steve Cropper and Matt Murphy. The person who brought it up said that it was mentioned in a book about Belushi and a book about the film, but didn't say if either of the books were official or authorized. Also, his reason for Walsh having to play on the song made NO sense. He said that John Belushi showed up two hours late for the session, and because of this, they had to have Joe Walsh play guitar on it. Like I said, it makes no sense. What's the deal?

Maybe someone else might recall something about this. I do not myself recall hearing anything from Joe on the issue and haven't read anything about it, so I'm interested in what if anything, you do confirm about it.

I've never heard this either, but that doesn't mean it's not true!

Well, I've not heard this one before but I had a little look around and listened to the single for Gimme Some Lovin'

Now, it sounds to me like Belushi has JW singing back up.

The only reason I can imagine Belushi's timing being an issue for recording a song, is if the others had had to leave and JW was left and played the lead part. He has of course played the song before and knows it.

The book that has been mentioned is called "Wired" http://www.amazon.com/Wired-Short-Life-Times-Belushi/dp/0671473204 and was written after interviews with many people is Belushi's life, but whether that makes it accurate is another thing entirely.
