Have any of you ever walked into a store and an Eagles or solo song was playing? That happened to me today, and I was grinning from ear to ear! :-D
I walked into Staples to return something with my husband, and "Heart of the Matter" was playing. Best of all, it had just started, so I got to hear the entire song!:yay:
I grabbed my husband's arm, and exclaimed, "Listen to what's playing!" He listened for second, and said, "Mmmm" and walked on! I am still not sure he even knew which song I was talking about!

I had one experience in a supermarket when I heard True Love. I couldn't believe it, because the song was not a hit here.

Oh yeah Stars - I love it when this happens. Shortly before Christmas, I was in Target and heard New Kid In Town. I am so pathetic that I have my own personal rule when this happens - I am not allowed to leave the premises until the song is finished.

It happens to me all the time Stars. I also have a policy that I must listen to the whole song before I leave the store!

My favorite time was either last year or the year before on my first Christmas shopping outing, I stopped at a cute shop and went in and Please Come Home For Christmas started playing. It just started the whole Christmas season out on the right 'note' for me. I'll never forget that.

My most recent unexpected Eagles song moments, were Desperado (followed by Tequila Sunrise) in the music store, HMV, and New Kid In Town in Pizza Hut. I love the idea of all of us refusing to leave the shop until the track's finished, despite the fact we've heard the song a million times! It's somehow more exciting when it's played unexpectedly in public.

I totally agree Troub. Now what would you do if the shop was playing a whole ALBUM, like what happened me in Borders last Summer??? They were playing the Complete Greatest Hits. :headscratch::headscratch:

Well I just HAD to head upstairs to the coffee shop and remain there until the album was finished.

Laura and I also have a policy of calling each other if an Eagles or solo song is played on the radio. Drives hubby nuts!!

It happens rather often here. Just yesterday on a trip to the mall, I went into The Nostalgia Shop (which I do everytime I am there, and always purchase at least 1 Eagles or Eagles related pic) they were playing TITTL, then another and another. So when I went to checkout to buy my Eagles pic, I put my Eagles purse on the counter to get my wallet and told the girl that checked me out I liked the fact that they were playing Eagles greatest hits. She looked at what I was buying and my purse and started laughing and said she bet I did! :)

What's really bad is, like I posted a couple weeks ago in Things That Remind You Of, when you are setting in a restaurant and hear an Eagles song and someone from the kitchen opens the door and screams at you to ask if you are listening.:eyebrow: One of the advantages (or disadvantages) of living in a small town where people all know each other.

There's a sandwich shop in West Lafayette that is always playing Joe solo songs, and I once heard Take It Easy in there. The local O'Charley's plays solo Don songs quite a bit, especially End of the Innocence and Heart of the Matter. There's a shopping center on Chauncey Hill where I regularly hear songs like Already Gone, Heartache Tonight, and other of the Eagles' rockers blasted over the loudspeakers.

The most memorable moment like that was when I was walking through a mall one day feeling down about something, and I heard the opening "oooohs" of Part of Me, Part of You. I stopped short, looked up, and got the biggest smile on my face. My spirits lifted immediately. That's the power of good music; that's why we love these guys.

POMPOY always lifts my spirits as well when I hear it come on the radio unexpectedly. Makes me grin from ear to ear!

Can I join you please, Lisa?

Maybe I go to the wrong stores, but all I ever hear is the older, well-known stuff, like Desperado, New Kid In Town & Life In The Fast Lane. Take It To The Limit seems to be a real favourite in the UK, too. I would die if I heard Heart Of The Matter when I was out shopping!

That's right Soda.

I've already posted my story somewhere here too, but this past September 23, the day before my Chicago Eagles concert, I was shopping at the mall when New Kid In Town started playing. I wanted to shout out
"HEY, I'M GOING TO SEE THESE GUYS TOMORROW!!!!!"

Last week at work i was approaching my last hour of tables and I was so incredibly tired and sleepy. I'm still trying to adjust to working the nights. There weren't a whole lot of people playing blackjack at 3:30 in the morning and as I got to my last table I heard the beginning of Take It Easy. It's amazing how hearing one song can completely change your mood and wake you up.

Hey I just posted this on my 'birthday' thread.....

My husband and I were waiting outside our hotel in Miami, Florida for the shuttle to take us back to the airport this morning and over the hotel sound system I heard "Bells will be ringing.... the sad sad news....." awh!!!! Don was singing me home! LOL So weird to see Christmas decorations and hear Christmas music when it's sunny and 78 degrees and palm trees everywhere!!!! But so good to hear the boys sing....:partytime:

cm - I know exactly what you mean. In the late 90's, I was working in Florida for over a year. I was traveling back and forth from Virginia to various cities all over Florida. I just so happened to be working in Miami during November and December that year. Sometimes I would fly in on Sunday just so I could spend the day on the beach. It was very weird seeing Christmas decorations on the beach. Too bad they didn't pipe in Please Come Home For Christmas - that would've been perfect. I have to admit though - I had a very difficult time getting my Christmas shopping done that year. No way I wanted to leave that beach and head for a shopping mall!!! :nope: :nope:

Bob and I went to Harbor Freight and they had a radio on in the store and Already Gone came on, I never looked at so many tools in my life so we wouldn't leave until it was over. Then we went to the 99 Cent store and Heart of the Matter was playing. I've heard them play that song in there quite a few times. They must be Henley fans.:partytime:

Hubby and I just got back from the restaurant around the corner (the one I have posted here that we heard How Long). Anyways, we were standing in the buffet line and PEF came on, hubby nudged me and said "they're playing them again!" I just stood there with a silly grin once again. Have I said how much I love this restaurant!

At the veterinary hospital I work at, there are 3 distinct areas that have music playing: the waiting room with either radio or CD (which I rarely hear); the treatment room where I spend most of my time working on hospitalized cases or the pets I admit from an appointment - (radio); and surgery where I spend most of my day on Thursdays - (radio). I usually let my technician decide the station du jour when we're in surgery...as long as it's not really hard rock or rap, I'm OK. The waiting room and treatment room stations are under 'whose-ever' control, and something I don't even think about...I just listen as I pass through or work within. Normally I might hear, at most, one Eagles song in my 3-day workweek. Yesterday, however, I heard a first...three Eagles songs in one day! The morning started off with Already Gone, and a couple of hours later I heard Don on Hotel Cal. Then, near the end of the night, Take it Easy came on. Although I was all smiles earlier in the day, it wasn't until TIE that I physically stopped in my tracks with the cat I was treating, grabbed a post-it, and wrote down the initials for the 3 songs. The treatment room tech looked at me kinda funny, so I just returned the look and said matter-of-factly, "What? I heard 3 Eagles songs today," as if that event would lead anyone to write it down on a post-it! She simply took the cat from me and waited till I was finished.

Only the other doctors (and maybe a few others) know about my Eagle fan-dom, and no one knows about the Borderhood (unless they're sneakin' a peak over my shoulder after hours when we should be writing up files...)

Went to the restaurant around the corner for breakfast again this morning and they were playing How Long again! My husband says since we never hear any commercials, it must not be a radio station they are listening to but someone must have a cd or ipod playing over the speakers. We always hear at least 1 Eagles song while there. No one pointed it out to me today tho like they usually do.

Then we went on into the city to get a few groceries (and to get me the heck out of the house after a week being snowed in with kids) and the radio station we listen to has "block party weekends", they played 3 in a row, Lyin' Eyes, Hotel California and Witchy Woman. It's been an Eagles day for me and I wasn't the one playing them.:-)

I mentioned this in my birthday thread but it probably belongs here. I was at work the other night and just as the clock struck midnight and into my birthday, I was walking out of the breakroom and onto the casino floor and heard Dirty Laundry playing. We have a radio at work which has a broken antenna and that's why it only receives two radio stations. Since a few weeks only one radio station is available. The one I hate  because they mostly play music I don't like (I'm not so into rap and beat or Brittney and Bushido). So most of our working time the radio (which sits on my desk) is playing very quietly.

But from time to time I start smiling from one ear to the other and turn the radio louder. Because sometime, on rare occasions, they play the Eagles, Glenn Frey or Don Henley.

Last time that happend our boss came in and said: "Why are you turning the radio louder?? Do you want me to leave, I don't like it that loud!!". My co-worker turned around and said: "Don't worry. That won't last long, just a few minutes. She always turns the volume up when they play the Eages".

Hehe

I work at a Verizon store in our local mall....we have a little kiosk in the middle. It's always funny because they tend to play the Eagles or Don quite a bit (especially "I Can't Tell You Why") and naturally if I'm speaking to a co-worker I will stop mid-sentence and listen. They give me the oddest looks.

Hahaha!

Sometimes when I'm at college the radio will play a lot of Eagles or Don Henley (usual Eagles, because The Netherlands just know 2 songs of Don Henley :worried: I've got to make some change to that!) and that's usual when we're having a lunch break or whatever, so I'm sitting there with my friends trying not to turn red because Don is on the radio. And sometimes it won't work and they ask: "What's wrong with you? Did Don passed you or something?" Uh...

Hubby has to be on the road about 4:30 every morning, we got up this morning and turned on the radio for the weather and they were playing LITFL--hubby looked at the radio and said "Oh, come on!!!" I just laughed. I personally don't mind being serenaded at 4:15 in the morning by the Eagles.

I was at a restaurant this afternoon, having lunch with a friend, when "Lyin' Eyes" came on the radio. I stopped eating and said to my friend, "Listen to what is playing!" She knew right away-she likes the guys a lot too, and said she is sorry she missed them when they played around here. I had invited her to the Philly show, but she wasn't able to make it. Hopefully, she will see them next time they come around. She told me she told her husband they are one of her all time favorite bands. I forgot to mention this here, but there was a rickshaw in town the other day, advertising a local radio station. I love it when I get to hear the Eagles or a solo song on the radio. As I was busy doing errands on Friday, I heard an Eagles or solo song every time I got in my car. Every station I turned to had one playing at one time or another. And the night before that, I actually heard the Heat Is On at work. Last week I was put on hold at work and it was Peaceful Easy Feeling on the other end of the line.

The only problem with this would be if they took you off hold--it would be tempting to say "put me back on till the song is over please".

Again this weekend, as they do every weekend, WAOR 95.30 had their block party weekend and once again was able to catch a couple blocks of 3 songs by our guys!

I was thinking the same thing when I read FFL's post.

Lou, that was nice of him to play the Eagles for you.

I don't know who it was that was playing the music at work last night but they were playing some great songs. I got to jam out to a lot of good classic rock and just when I was thinking "Why aren't they playing the Eagles too?" I heard the beginning of a familiar song. :yay: Sunset Grill was playing. Not the Eagles, but it was just as satisfying.

Okay, I have been hearing the Eagles music everywhere lately. Last night I went out to dinner with my family and we got to hear "Peaceful Easy Feeling". Then, late that night while I was at the grocery store, I heard "Take It Easy". And today, while I was out bowling, I got to hear "Witchy Woman", "Heartache Tonight", "Already Gone", AND "LITFL". I didn't get to see who selected the songs off the tune selector, but whoever it was, I applaud their music selections  Needless to say, it was the best time I had had bowling in a while :hilarious:

We had to run out for awhile today (even tho everyone here is sick this weekend!) and when I ran into Walmart for some cold medications, they were playing PEF. We decided to stop and get a good lunch so no one would have to cook, as we were just getting up from the table to leave, Boys Of Summer came on so I sat there and said now we had to wait. Larry said no we won't because we would probably just hear it in the car anyways! :p Need I say, I made sure we did!

Yesterday, as I was driving down the road to the grocery store, I saw a van that had Eagles Medical Supplies on it - never had heard of it before, but now I know who to call if I need an inhaler! But the best part was when I got inside the store, I got a double treat - first they played The Last Worthless Evening, and then about 15 minutes later, True Love came on. I think they must have seen me coming because I hung around that place a lot longer than usual, and bought about twice as much as I intended. But, all in all, a very good trip. I think I need to get out more.

Now, I am not someone who dreams a lot, and, if I do, I usually don't remember them. But, this morning when I was coming out of my sleep, Tim's song 'A Better Day Is Coming' was playing over and over in my head as I was waking up. As I said, I don't remember dreaming anything. The only explanation I have is that this is somehow related to the Timothy Survivor Game. I have no idea why it was this song because it isn't a standout for me in terms of being my favorite or least favorites of Timothy's solo songs. Another explanation could be that someone is trying to reassure me that my overall crappy week is coming to an end. If this is true, then the song may move up a few notches on my 'favorites' list.

I became the topic of discussion and they all came to the conclusion that it's an obsession---Gee, you think so? DUH!!!!!:???:

Then Saturday morning, we all went out to breakfast at a restaurant that we frequent a block away and we were walking back, and when we passed the service station of the corner Take It Easy was playing. Absolutely - all thing must stop when you hear an Eagles tune unexpectedly!!! I've been dying to post this since last week, but as I said in another thread, I haven't been able to get on the board much. Last week, my sister and I were on a day trip, and she drove. We were only on the road for a few minutes and my sister said, "Gosh, you should have brought some of your Eagles CD's. How in the world are you going to get through this whole trip without any Eagles music?" First, I scolded her for not having at least one single Eagles CD in her car. But then, I told her not to panic, surely if we find a classic rock radio station, we would not have to go too long without hearing an Eagles song. I got the eyeroll, but, of course, I was right on - within a half hour, we heard Take It Easy and later on, One of These Nights. But the best part was on the return trip home, we got a Hotel California 3-pack - that's right - Hotel California, New Kid In Town, and Wasted Time all in a row without commercial interruption. I couldn't help but just sit back with a huge grin on my face as I looked at her and said "I told you we'd hear plenty of Eagles music!" :yay: :yay: :yay:

This just makes my day;especially when my cds are at home. Since seeing them in Indianapolis in march, not a day goes by that I dont play one of my cds or my dvd of Farewell 1. I just bought a dvd of 2 hours of interviews of the guys from amazon for 10.00. This is worth buying for all eagles fans. And I have to say that the 3 hour show in March is the best concert I have ever seen; hope they make a dvd of this tour. I am going to play some video before the night is over. Love Those Eagles! Saturday morning I wanted to go get my Mom and take her to the cematary to decorate my Dad's grave (she hasn't been able to go there in almost a year because that's when she got so sick and was in and out of hospitals--she is now walking with a cane and able to get around so we thought we'd give it a shot). I had to borrow my son's car because I knew she wouldn't be able to get in and out of our SUV. Anyways, we discovered a new radio station. Apparently my son has been listening to this station for months--Oldies 94.3--Yup--My 18 year old listens to an OLDIES station--I'm so proud! We immediately came home and stuck it on every radio we have and have heard everything from Temptations to Donna Summer, from Frank Sinatra to Nancy Sinatra and everything from KC & The Sunshine Band to the Eagles. They play everything, motown, rock, classic rock, rat pack, 70's and 80's. It's great and a lot of Eagles.

Told Nancy on the phone yesterday, all weekend they had been running a contest where they would ask a trivia question and the 11th caller to answer would win a brand new vinyl copy of Hotel California. Sometimes the questions were Eagle related and sometimes they weren't (which I didn't get). I tried often (tho, my family can't figure out why because I already own about 4 vinyl copies of it) but the closest I ever got was 9th caller.

"Wait, turn it back!!!" I didn't mean to yell that at her but I got all excited thinking that Don was on tv. I'm not sure which tv show it was, maybe Law and Order or one of those shows like it, but it was right at the end of the episode and it was a funeral scene. That's all I saw but it was enough for me to be able to hear a little bit of the song.

Earlier this evening I thought I heard an Eagles song on the radio,,I was in another room and the volume wasn't up loud,,when I went in the room it wasn't the Eagles but when that song ended the next song they played was Take It To The Limit.

Is it me or does the beginning of this song make your heart skip a few beats?

Last night, for the second time since i've been working at the casino, I heard The Heat Is On. Music is constantly playing at work and I love it when they play an Eagles or solo song. I was actually a little jealous when my good friend and co-worker, Christie, told me that she heard Busy Being Fabulous playing at work last week and I missed it because I was on my break. I have actually stood in the employee entrance a few times when I was supposed to be on a break just to hear an Eagles or solo song that was playing.

In the supermarket. I HATE 'musac' as a rule but my main man and I were shopping late yesterday when I heard the sweet sound of Timothy singing LWKUA. We stopped shopping and started dancing right there in the aisle. YES, everyone who saw us thought we were crazy but we do that sort of thing every now and then. Keeps it interesting and I love doing wacky, spontaneous stuff. Aside from seeing them live, what's better than dancing to The Eagles at the supermarket?

Cliffy, the home repair guy, fixed my car this weekend (no.. really.. he did!) but he had to disconnect the battery so all our presets were lost. My eldest, Jenni, was perturbed as we left to pick up Sarah from school so she set about resetting them (to her standards, I shall RE-reset them later) and came across Dirty Laundry while scanning the stations. I yelled "WAIT! STOP! GO BACK!" Since it was a warm day and I had my window down, the man walking down the road as we drove past stopped in his tracks and looked at us panicked. Jenni just gave me her signature "Chaa" and eye roll. I was pretty happy tho. I think the poor man figured out we weren't talking to him.

This morning I got in the car to go to work. I only live 3 minutes away. The radio was off but I turned it on and actually thought to myself "Slim chance of hearing any Eagles". But I pushed the preset to the station I thought I'd have the best odds with. A familiar beautiful accoustic intro was playing and I grinned a huge grin as the live version of Seven Bridges Road played! Needless to say I drove as slow as I could and parked just as it was finishing. Made my day!

Well, actually the 1973 The Smoker You Drink, the Player You Get album that includes Rocky Mountain Way is Barnstorm. The 1972 Barnstorm album was recorded by Joe, Joe Vitale, and Kenny Passarelli. For The Smoker You Get album, they added Rocke Grace to the lineup and were billed as Joe Walsh and Barnstorm. All four men have writing credits on RMW so to me, it definitely qualifies as a Barnstorm recording.

Walking through Parkdale Mall with my old friend and her kids (ages 4-15), we heard the guitar solo for Hotel California playing over the mall's loudspeakers. "That sounds familiar," the eldest girl said. "Yeah, it does," the next youngest said, a boy. "That's 'Hotel California' by the Eagles," I volunteered, happy that they at least kind of recognized it. "Oh yeah! We've played that song on Guitar Hero. That's why it sounded familiar," the eldest girl said. Off they went, missing my look of chagrin, lol.

I got a "twofer" today. Finally my clock radio woke me up with the Eagles! Life In The Fast Lane! What a song to wake up to!

And then, on my way to work I got PEF! I've mentioned before that my drive is only 2-3 minutes long. Unfortunately I could not listen to all of it, as I was running late. What a morning! :grooving:
