View Full Version : Another Glenn Frey solo album?

I had forgotten that in May 2005, Glenn said "I have my own unfinished symphony that I probably should attend to. I'd like to do another solo album, I've been collecting songs for the past couple of years, and they all sound like Eagles songs. I might get serious about recording them -- we'll have to see what happens."

So, now that we know an Eagles album is going to happen, is the point rendered moot? Or maybe he was at least half-serious when saying on the PTO tour that if ILTWAWD wasn't recorded with the Eagles, he'd release it on a solo album?

Food for thought. :)

Personally, I have no problem with this plan at all. I can't wait for Prelude To Obsurity II. :D

To me the fact that he finally titled a tour Prelude To Obscurity and put merchandise out, suggests that he might consider finally naming an album in this way. On the other hand he is going to be heavily committed to the Eagles, promoting the Eagles album. I don't know where he would find the time to do his own album even if he does have some songs completed.

Is that the first time he's had merchandise? Maybe that is a good sign. I wouldn't even mind a mix of original stuff and covers, just want to hear him again.

It is the first time he's done merchandise since the Party Of Two tour. I don't even know if he had any for the SW tour.

I personally would not like to see any covers on any new solo album - except for ILTWAWD, if it isn't on the Eagles album.

He probably had SW stuff, but I've never seen any pop up on Ebay yet. I agree that the fact he had merchandise IS a good sign. It shows that he recognizes he's still viable and marketable as a solo artist as well as with the Eagles.

I'm sure it doesn't hurt that merchandise is very profitable for the artist. <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/images/emoticons/smile.gif ALT=":)">

Yes, but the thing is, he hasn't bothered to sell solo merchandise since 1993. So, if he figured he could sell enough this time to make it worth his while, whereas he didn't think so in the recent past, it's a positive sign. I mean, it is a pretty unusual step to sell merchandise for a tour where half the shows are inaccesible to the public. lol

Or maybe he just took pity on his fans who are so eager for such things. ;)

I think one reason there was merchandise this time is that there were several shows...in a row...not just one or two here and there. It really was like a mini-tour so having the shirts made a little more sense unlike when he played Tunica.
