This is a fun thing my friends and I used to do for Fleetwood Mac, and I figure we could do it for the Eagles, too. It's like the game "Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon" where you could trace any person in Hollywood back to Kevin Bacon with six links. If you're unfamiliar with the game, see my examples to see what I mean.

Feel free to post your own names of people to link to the Eagles... just remember they have to be famous enough so that other people can link them, too!

Some examples involving Harrison Ford:

LINK THE EAGLES to HARRISON FORD (http://www.laurashinn.com/Harrison%20Ford.jpg)
in six degrees or less

1. Harrison Ford was in Star Wars with Carrie Fisher
2. Carrie Fisher wrote an article where she interviewed Don Henley
3. Don Henley is in the Eagles

--------------------------------------------

LINK THE EAGLES to HARRISON FORD (http://www.laurashinn.com/Harrison%20Ford.jpg)
in six degrees or less

1. Harrison Ford was in Working Girl with Melanie Griffith
2. Melanie Griffith was married to Don Johnson
3. Don Johnson co-starred with Glenn Frey in Miami Vice and Nash Bridges
4. Glenn Frey is in the Eagles

-------------------------------------------------

Get the idea?

Can anybody else link the Eagles to Harrison Ford in six degrees or less?

Harrison Ford was married to the woman who wrote ET: The Extra-Terrestrial
Drew Barrymore was in ET
Drew Barrymore starred in The Wedding Singer with Adam Sandler
Adam Sandler appeared in Coneheads with Drew Carey
Drew Carey had Joe Walsh on his show several times
Joe Walsh is in the Eagles

That right?

Here's a fairly simple one although it took me a half hour to research it!
(This stuff doesn't come easily for me!)

1. Harrison Ford starred with Barbara Bach in the movie Force 10 From Navarone.
2. Barbara Bach is married to Ringo Starr.
3. Ringo Starr is the brother-in-law of Joe Walsh.
4. Joe Walsh is one of the Eagles.

Here's another one...

1. Harrison Ford Starred in the movie Blade Runner.
2. Ridley Scott directed the movie Blade Runner.
3. Ridley Scott directed the 1986 Pepsi commercial starring Don Johnson and Glenn Frey.
4. Glenn Frey is one of the Eagles.

I don't think mine are very embellished.

Maybe the new game should be called "Six Degrees of Harrison Ford!"

LOL! We can attach the guys to anyone! Any suggestions?

How about this one?

Link the Eagles to Michael Landon

1. Michael Landon played Little Joe on Bonanza
2. Lorne Greene played the father on Bonanza
3. Lorne Greene played Commander Adama on the original Battlestar Galactica
4. Maren Jensen, who played Adama's daughter Athena on Battlestar, was Don Henley's longtime girlfriend
5. Don Henley is one of the Eagles

Although I am not following all of the proper rules, please allow me this indulgence--I was so pleased I thought of it on the way to work this am:

Link any Eagle to Eaglesvet:

1. Eaglesvet is Stella B's daughter
2. Stella B's favorite song back in the 60's was "Those Were the Days My
Friend", sung by Mary Hopkin (see 'The Soundtrack of Your Life' thread)

3. Mary Hopkin's song was produced by Paul McCartney
4. Paul McCartney was in the Beatles with Ringo Starr
5. Ringo Starr is Joe Walsh's brother-in-law
6. Joe Walsh is in the Eagles with the rest of the Eagles!! TA DA!!

Linking the Eagles to Michael Landon...

1. Michael Landon co-starred in Little House on the Prairie with Jason Bateman (he played James Cooper Ingalls).

2. Jason Bateman had the misfortune of being in the incredibly sucky movie Tropic Thunder with Tom Cruise.

3. Tom Cruise was in Jerry Maguire with Glenn Frey.

4. Glenn Frey is in the Eagles.

A bit tongue in cheek!

Link the Eagles to 'Glennsallnighter'

GA's brother plays golf.
GA's brother has met Tiger Woods
Tiger Woods knows Glenn  Frey
Glenn  Frey is a member of the Eagles

Note: Not that any of the above has been of any use whatsoever to GA!!

lol!

Link the Eagles to sodascouts:

1) Soda's mom went to high school with Janis Joplin
2) Stevie Nicks' high school band opened for Janis Joplin at a music festival
3) Stevie Nicks dueted with Don Henley on Leather and Lace
4) Don Henley is in the Eagles

I think this might be more intriguing to link a B-lister (a Border-lister) than a Hollywood A-lister, if you ask me! I like yours a lot, Soda!

TimothyBFan

I had forgotten that story about Janis Joplin. Didn't you say something about the infamous class reunion she once attended of the high school to thumb her nose, so to speak, to everyone that had looked down on her in school or did I just read about that somewhere else?

OK EV-the best I can do:

Link Timothy B Schmit to TimothyBFan (and I'm not the only one that can use this one!)

1.) TimothyBFan has a friend Soda
2.) Soda has met Don Henley and Glenn Frey
3.) Don Henley and Glenn Frey are in the Eagles along with Timothy B. Schmit!

Lame I know--sorry-but I wanted to see my name linked with Tim somehow

TimothyBFan
01-12-2009, 02:18 PM
Oh my --I just thought of another one that links me...

1.)TimothyBFan has a friend named Keith who was a local roadie 2x for Van Halen in the 80s.
2.) Keith met Michael Anthony
3.) Michael Anthony has worked with Timothy B. Schmit
4.) Timothy B Schmit is an Eagle

I can't find the picture of Tim and Michael off hand but I know it's floating around here somewhere.

Per PrettyMaid's request in another thread:

1) Soda ripped a copy of the Holland 1973 How Long off of a bootleg she got from a cool guy and uploaded it to YouTube because she had never seen it there, and thought it was really cool.
2) Shortly thereafter, Glenn's kids saw the clip on YouTube and pointed it out to Mom and Dad.
3) Cindy suggested to Glenn that they record it.
4) Glenn Frey is in the Eagles, and the Eagles recorded the song.

Pretty cool, eh? Now if you look on You Tube you'll find that the video has been uploaded again, but at the time, mine was the only one on there and indeed even after it was taken down, another copy wasn't put up by someone else until months later - and that was simply a reposting of the file I had put up (you guys know how diligently I check YouTube for new stuff from all my posts in the YouTube threads). It still kind of blows my mind when I think about it.

TimothyBFan

It blows my mind also Soda!! Too Cool!!! And that is one of the reasons I love this place! Like I told you last night -I think this is the greatest place for Eagles fans-and I meant it!!!:partytime:

Well Soda I for one have no doubt at all that it was the original one that you put up that inspired Cindy and to suggest to Glenn  that they record the song. Blows me away too that you did it!

These are all great links!

Wow Soda!! That's so neat!! There's no doubt in my mind that it was the amazing Soda's video that was the inspiration.

It's the marvel that is the internet, that takes some inconsequential act done in my apartment and turns it into something that can reach a big star like Glenn - kind of like what happened with Journey's new lead singer, but on a MUCH SMALLER scale, lol.

When I first heard that he had been inspired by the Holland How Long video on YouTube, my heart just started pounding as I realized mine had been the only one there. I was like "There must be some mistake. He can't mean YOUTUBE! I put that video on YouTube!" I started freaking out. Oh my gosh, I still can't believe it. I wanted to mention it to Glenn but I was worried it would sound like I was being a glory-hound. I did mention it to JD Souther, though, and gave him a copy of the original file.

Me LOVES the internet! lol

Yes we are Soda! It's amazing!

And yet again, this just baffles me that they (Eagles) are so opposed to YouTube and yank everything of theirs off ASAP. Why can't they understand that the exposure they are getting there is a help to them, not a hindrance? Heaven forbid they miss out on collecting a few $$$! As if they needed it! :headshake:

Or at least the 'great minds' thing!

Okay - I finally came up with one of these:

Arnold Schwarzenegger starred in the movie The Running Man.
Cindy Millican appeared as a dancer in The Running Man.
Cindy Millican married Glenn Frey.
Glenn Frey is in the Eagles.

TimothyBFan

I was reminded of this one last night--And I'm so proud of myself!

1.) Willie is married to Larry
2.) Larry works for a company that is owned by an investment group owned by Jim Messina's.
3.) Jim Messina played in a group called Poco with Timothy B. Schmit
4.) Timothy B. Schmit is a member of the Eagles

Ha!--Another Willie/Timothy connection! :hilarious:

Alrighty...let's see if I can get one of these things figured out!

Let's connect me to an Eagle!

1. Maleah is friends with Rick Hendrix, who is a music promoter
2. Reba McEntire is one of Rick's current clients
3. Reba recorded a song called "On My Own," on which Trisha Yearwood sang
4. Trisha Yearwood is friends with (and has recorded with Don Henley
5. Don Henley is a member of the Eagles!

Or I could get rid of the Reba link I guess and just have

1. Maleah's friends with Rick Hendrix (music promoter)
2. In 1997 Rick won a grammy for his work on Trisha Yearwood & Garth Brooks song "In Another's Eyes"
3. Trisha Yearwood is friends with (and has recorded with) Don Henley
4. Don Henley is one of the Eagles!

Yay! lol

OK, got another one!

1. Back in 1989, eaglesvet and her friend were "clubbing it" in NYC. They happened upon Cher hosting Chastity's 20th birthday party at that very dance club, got Cher's autograph, and even chatted with her for a few moments!!

2. During the 80's, Cher was romantically involved with Tom Cruise.

3. Tom Cruise starred in the film Jerry Maguire in 1996.

4. Jerry Maguire also featured Glenn Frey in a supporting role!

*G* I never met John Corbet, but Sarah did and she got his autograph for me. She was living in Seattle and working for a well known local artist. She was also an artist and did some textile work. John had s some of her stuff at a friends house (Upholstery and curtains etc..) and hired her to do a set of curtains for his Living Room. While working there, he invited her to his club. She went with a friend and they met John at the club. He hugged her and talked to her most of the night. The next day he invited her again, but this time just the two of them. She went out with him a few times but I dont think she ever "Spent the night" *G* Evidently he IS as great looking in person as he is on the screen (This was right after Northern Exposure and before anything else) She stopped dating him because she said he was kind of whiny and complained a lot (her description, not mine). She finished his curtains and saw him a few more times at the club, but just as friends.
She also did some work for Janine Turner but she never dated her *G*

Glenn  Frey has a son called Otis
Glenn  Frey is a member of the Eagles
