I'm a little calmer now that I have talked to Soda! Hubby walked in as I was talking to her and I told him the Eagles were coming to Indy-he just shook his head. He instantly knew who I was on the phone with and told me he didn't care if I go but he wants a picture of me with the band and I better be decent in it. If not then they better at least play Disco Strangler for Nancy! :hilarious:

I'M GOING TO INDY!!!!!!!!!!!!

I just heard about this today too!:nahnah:

My husband and I are still planning to 'show up' in Columbus on the 29th and see if we can pull a "Soda" and get our tickets at the venue day of the show. If not, we'll just go have dinner, and stay the night in Columbus.

Now that I heard about Indy.... geesh.... guess we'll have to try this one too!!! How cool would that be to see them TWICE in a week's time?

TBF and Soda - maybe we'll get together in Indy!

Obviously my mental telepathy is reaching them. I kept sending vibes saying I can't keep taking off 2 days of work everytime I go to see them!

I have already gotten tix to Cleveland and Columbus, and couldn't really justify Indy...my brother found out about the show and has offered to get us tix in honor of my b-day! How cool is that?!? We've been on the outs big-time lately (due to evil sil), so I am really surprised and pleased that he would do this. We haven't done something like this for years.

I can't believing they were asking $195 for second tier (sec. 103, to be specific - seating chart here (http://www.ticketmaster.com/event/05004234ABEB9437?artistid=734977&majorcatid=10001&minorcatid=1)). Is that really supposed to be a primo seat???

eaglesvet
02-02-2009, 11:55 AM
That's very sad. I remember after I bought my Hershey ticket, I happened to check back about 2 1/2 hrs later and was surprised to see they still had floor seats available, not too far back. I guess it's just the local market that dictates how fast the tickets sell.

Do you think Irving has a hand in this (seat pricing) ?

sodascouts
02-02-2009, 02:28 PM
Well, the venue sets seat prices, and what they charge for which sections. It's the venue's idea to make 2nd tier near the stage top price.

However, the prices are largely determined by what the promoter has been forced to fork over for the band's guarantee, which is decided by Irving and our guys. The Eagles have one of the highest guarantees of any concert act, and it's been this way since Hell Freezes Over - which is why there was such controversy then. (Note: a "guarantee" is how much money the band must be paid up front in order to perform at a venue, regardless of ticket sales).

Henley has stated that their guarantee is so large to cover touring costs because of all their fancy screens and such. I think most fans would be happier with fewer special effects and lower prices. I know I would be! But Glenn is more straightforward: "I won't apologize for ticket prices. I think we're well worth it. We consider ourselves [an] elite touring act." But even he has added that after all, they play for three hours....

The truth is that it all comes down to simple supply and demand. What is the greatest amount Irving and the guys can charge that the market will bear, before promoters start balking because they believe they won't be able to make up the guarantee in ticket sales? Whatever that amount is - that's the amount our guys will ask for. Hey, that's capitalism, baby! ;) And apparently so far the Eagles have delivered.

Irving's ability to negotiate such high guarantees for the band are part of what has made the Eagles as financially successful as they are today. Hence, Glenn's Hall of Fame comment that they might be famous without Irving, but they sure wouldn't be as rich.

Anyway, that's why their prices are relatively consistent with different venues. The venue has to have a certain amount of tickets for top price in order to make a profit on the show. In order to do this, most venues have been making their entire floor and first tier sell for top price. Conseco is just doing it a little differently, pricing on position near the stage rather than on the tier (although they're certainly not the only venue to do this). Neither one really makes me happy, lol.

But obviously I must concede they ARE worth it to me, as I'll be there.

Now it's time for me to go sell some plasma. ;)

This is just so aggravating! Who ever heard of a front row face value ticket costing the same as a 2nd tier face value ticket?

TimothyBFan
02-03-2009, 09:57 AM
Right now I am going on record as saying I will not be going if I have to pay that much for a ticket that far away! I just cannot justify that! That is absurd in MHO! Of course the show is about 7 weeks away:hilarious:, all that could change!

I am looking forward to the Indy show. This will be my first Eagles concert my anniversary is the next day and I was able to get seats 7 rows from the stage it can't get much better that.

I do have a question about floor seats. Will most people be sitting or standing?

sodascouts
02-04-2009, 07:12 PM
Excellent keith! I hope I do that well (and welcome)!

It depends on the venue and the crowd regarding whether or not they stand. My last experience at Conseco was seeing Fleetwood Mac in 2003. For that concert, the majority of the floor stood.

The Eagles apparently frown upon standing during quiet songs, however, or when very few others are standing.

In a weak moment this weekend Hubby purchased 2nd row tickets for us. I was going to be strong and wait for face value tickets, but he's just not as strong as I am in this matter...:hilarious: I didn't stop him either!

So, Indy, here we come! 2nd row! I'm soo-o-o-o- excited!!!

AWESOME! You go girl!!

Still obsessively checking TM over here! lol

sodascouts
03-09-2009, 01:13 PM
Well, PM inspired me to check out TicketExchange and lo and behold, they had a 2nd row center ticket for $260! It's on the aisle in between Glenn and Joe, guaranteeing dancing room! I was originally holding out for face price, but considering the location, I figure I'm playing the $60 to get a break from the stress of checking TM all the time, lol. That price is do-able for me.

So, looks like I'll be near you and your husband, PM!

And despite my proximity to Glenn, I will pay attention to ALL the guys, I promise! (Not that I haven't done that before - 'cause I have - it's just I know some people get the wrong impression that I don't care about the other guys. I appreciate them all.)

TimothyBFan
03-09-2009, 01:30 PM
:thumbsup:Good job PM and Soda!!! I am so happy for both of you!!!

I just got off the phone with Nancy- told her I will not be going to Indy afterall! Seems reality has reared it's ugly head once again and it just won't be happening for me in Indy. Our son has had major ear, nose and throat problems since he was 7 weeks old and this winter had been exceptionally bad. We are going back to another specialist for more surgery (he's had eight so far) to correct hearing loss and try to get him to the point where he won't be having so many infections etc--and wouldn't you know it, his appointment is the following morning and of course if I need to cancel it, they say they can't get us back in till July. Cannot wait that long because if there is surgery etc, we need to have it all done before he heads off to IU. Add to that the expense of more days off, price of the surgery (because insurance SUCKS!!) and $$ put out for the big plumbing issue last week--I just cannot honestly justify the expense of a concert ticket and a day off work without pay right now!! I guess it would be different if I hadn't already seen them a couple of times in the last few months (especially with the great "interactive" seats in Cincy!).

So anyways, I am feeling extremely sorry for myself right now!:weep:

Please have a good time for me also and blow Timmy a great big huge kiss for me. Get pictures if you can also!!

Willie, for me it won't be the same without you. You've been at every single Eagles concert with me! (Okay, I've only been to one, but you were there!).

Hubby left a note for me this morning. He knew I was bummed about the basketball game last night, so that might have been a motivating factor. Anyway, it reads,

'Did you know 2 days/12 hours until Eagles! Second row center!!'

He's so sweet. :inlove:

Back in 1999 Eric took me to Nashville for Memorial Day weekend and we stayed at the Opryland Hotel. To my shock, in the beautiful atrium, he dropped to one knee, pulled out a ring and asked me to marry him! It was totally unexpected! Anyway, that next morning we woke up and he said,
"I had the strangest dream last night. I dreamed I asked you to marry me and you said yes!"

Ever since then anytime something exciting happens or is about to happen, he usually says that. The other morning we woke up and he said,
" I had the weirdest dream last night. I dreamed we had 2nd row tickets to the Eagles concert." And I said We do! We do!

Well as I sit here on the Border, I am a little regretful that I'm not in Indy right now. Just got off the phone a bit ago with Nancy and says she is so excited about their seats and that PM & hubby are only 6 seats down from her. Everyone has been sick here all weekend (including me still under the weather -a week now) so makes it a little easier to be glad I stayed behind this time.

Funny story-- about 2 hours ago the phone rang and I answered it. My sister in law yells "what the h*ll are you doing home?" She is in Indy right now for a hospital conference and they are walking downtown by Consenco and says bunches of people and some trying to sell tickets to the concert tonight. Says she finally asked someone what concert and was told the Eagles, told the women she was with that she had to call up here to see if I was in Indy. Couldn't believe it when I answered. She says you go to see them further away but when they are in the same state you don't go. Thinks I'm crazy now. After over 20 years of knowing me -you would think she would of known that already. :???:

I just keep telling myself that at least I don't have to worry about PEW this week!!

You girls are gonna have a FABULOUS time!!!! Oh man, I wish we could all be there with you. Have fun and i hope you all make sure that Don gets a rose this time too.

Willie, I wish you could be there with them. Here's my advice....settle down on the couch with a glass of wine and pop in the HFO or FW1 dvd. Even though you aren't at the concert you can have the next best thing, a front row seat from right in your living room. And look at it this way, you don't have to worry about any security or drunk people getting in your way.
