New You Tube Video player

I've just installed a modification that will automatically turn YouTube links into an embedded player. If you'd prefer to leave them as links, just disable "Automatically Embed Media" in your "Miscellaneous" post options (located in "additional options" beneath the Submit Post button).

All of a sudden my youtube video links aren't showing up as an embedded player. My appropriate boxes are checked - what now?

Never mind - I think I figured it out.

This is something other people might wonder about too.

A few days ago, YouTube changed its "Share" url to be youtu.be. Our embedded player doesn't recognize that. In order for your video to be embedded, you'll need to use the URL at the top of the webpage that is still youtube.com.

For instance, this is the "share" URL:
http://youtu.be/OPospvRqP_s

And this is using the URL at the top of the page:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OPospvRqP_s&feature=related
