I had never stopped to realize that all of the albums except On the Border are represented in their show. I knew there was a reason my Hershey sign pleaded:pray: "Ol' 55!" Too bad only the first security guard can verify that, before he made me deep-six it :scowl:...

LOL as to how to identify a full-fledged Eagle from a non-FFE but the color of his chest plumage!

Sorry it took me so long to get back here... I got caught in a torrential downpour after the show and I guess combined w/ all of the screaming I did during the show that night it made me sooo sick! But first off, let me just say that the show was ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC!!! The guys were perfectly flawless for each and every song just as I expected!!!

I did manage to smuggle my camera in... But unfortunately, the camera nazi's were out in full force so I wasn't able to get too many pics. :( I'll post the ones I managed to get just as soon as I get them uploaded to my PB though.

I got yelled at by security several times just for standing... I was like WTF? Who the f:censored: sits down at a rock concert?! Anyways, I was talking w/ some of the security guys during intermission and they told me that it wasn't up to them... They said that the band didn't want ANY photos taken or anyone standing except for at the beginning and/or end of certain songs?! I really just don't get it... Is this the norm for all Eagles concerts, or did I just happen to get unlucky at this particular show?

Oh well, I'll come back and post the pics that I managed to sneak once I get them uploaded.

Glad to hear from you, Jags and glad to hear the show was wonderful (of course). Too bad you got sick though.

As far as your questions - here's what I think. I believe that the band does set certain guidelines about things like standing and photography. However, I think that each venue interprets and enforces those guidelines very differently. When I was at the Verizon Center show in November, security was generally fairly laid back and relaxed. However, in Hampton earlier this month, they were bears - actually, more about the standing than the cameras. I think the band prefers that the fans sit during the earlier part of the show - probably because of their more ... err ... "mature" audiences. In Hampton, before the show started, security was down on the floor announcing that there would be absolutely no standing at any time during the show. Of course, as the show went on, there was no way they were going to enforce that. I tried to make my way to the stage at the end of the show because my niece had bought roses for each of the guys, and there was no way that they would let me even get close. However, in Birmingham last week, DonFan and her friend walked right up to the stage at the end of the show. Go figure!!!

Glad to hear from you Jags and glad that show was great.

This morning while the site was down I was cruising the internet and found a blog and now of course I can't find it again. :enraged: Anyways, this person was going on about this show saying it was such a bad experience but that the band sounded great! According to her she was 5th row on the floor, says that the security was horrible because they were yelling at everyone for being on their feet dancing. Says that EVERYONE was taking pictures and Don made a comment about it being very disruptive and that a few was fine but this is no photo session or something like that. Also said the crowd was extremely rowdy and pretty much out of hand at times. She blamed it on the Super Bowl crowd that it probably was and not actually Eagles fans. Says the band almost seemed upset about it and that Glenn and Joe left the stage super fast after the show.

Jags-what's your take on this? I will continue to keep looking for that blog and see if I can get it posted. It was quite the read!

Jags, glad you had such a great time, despite the camera nazis!

But - the band ordered that people not be allowed to stand except for "certain times" - oh my gosh! Man, that makes me cringe. I like to think of our guys as cool rockers, not uptight fuddy-duddies. At Fleetwood Mac shows, Lindsey Buckingham encourages the crowd to stand. Their audience is a simliar demographic. I don't get it. Frankly, I'm disappointed in our guys. Love 'em anyway but... wow. That is so uncool.

As far as photos - didn't Glenn say photos were OK?!

Maybe they should make a series of announcements when they come out.

Don: "Ladies and Gentleman, hope you enjoy the show. However, you should be aware that certain behaviors will not be tolerated by this band.

First off, you may not take video at any time. If you do, be prepared to be given the Frey Eye which has been known to shrivel the balls of grown men and completely vaporize those of more delicate constitutions.

Secondly, you may take photos, but you may not take so many photos that I become distracted. There is no specific number or amount I am referring to per se, but I will announce when I become irritated. At that moment, you are to put away all cameras immediately.

Thirdly, you may only stand at certain designated portions of the show. We expect you to psychically know when these portions are. If we see that you have not read our minds correctly in this regard, be prepared to be chastised publicly from the stage and be made to feel like sh-t when all you did was enjoy our show enthusiastically.

Now... let's rock! In our chairs! In an orderly and subdued manner! Keep in mind that upper arm movement is only acceptable when it does not reach above the shoulders, except at the end of the song, where you are permitted to lean forward when applauding! The end of the song will be designated by a little nod we give at the end - you are NOT to put those arms up before then!"

 Soda - YES. As much as I love the guys, I find it all very strange. Who wants to be nervous about doing the "wrong thing" at a rock concert? I don't see the necessity for such stringent rules. If I was reprimanded for standing up at a show, I would be GUTTED. It does make them appear uptight and takes the focus away from the sheer joy of the music and the performance, IMO. It would be nice to see them loosen up a little - or at least let the security use their discretion. I've been to numerous concerts where some people have stood, others have remained seated, and there has never been any problems. Surely we don't need the band to dictate if and when people should get up and enjoy themselves...

I agree with most of what you all are say here, but I also have a problem with the idea of letting the security folks at the venue calling all the shots. I think one reason that the band may set guidelines is in an attempt to take some of the power/decision-making away from the security folks at the venue. Some of these security folks get on a power play and don't use very good discretion. Even with guidelines established by the band (assuming this is true), the security at different venues can differ dramatically, as I mentioned in my previous post.

I find these "band rules" very strange, too.
I have gone to five Eagles concerts over the last year in four different venues and never, at any time, was I ever chastised for standing up. In Birmingham last week there was a couple on the front row who stood up & slow-danced through both of Timothy's ballads!

As far as cameras go, the guys seem to have gotten much better at allowing pictures lately too--the general announcements before each show usually say no flash photography and no videos. They really do hate the flashes, though. "Frey Eye" may be bad but I have been the recipient of "Don's Deathly Glare" and it is quite terrifying, too!

The guards at each venue really do seem to have a lot of say over how close you get, however. In Memphis the guards wouldn't even allow me to leave my 3rd row seat to give Don his flowers, but I am still amazed that here in Birmingham, the guard personally escorted me to the front row for pictures. Go figure!?!

In Chicago I remember Don telling some people to sit down from the stage, but thank goodness it's not a regular occurrence. Maybe the guys have realized what a drag that is.

I understand why camera flashes would bother them, but it seemed Don told all photographers to take it easy with the photos, not just those with flash.

And DF - I remember you telling me about "Don's Deathly Glare" and I have to say - I wouldn't want to be the recipient of that, either!

This is all very strange. I just can't imagine the band not wanting everyone to dance, clap, and enjoy themselves. They will turn in to that "nostalgia act" they have said they weren't if they insist that people sit all the time.

I understand there are some people that want to sit. But why do they insist on sitting on the floor where most people want to stand and dance? Go up in nosebleed or stay home and watch a dvd. This is a rock concert for crying out loud!

LOVE your rules Soda!

I suppose that from the band's view from the stage they can see peoples' views being blocked by people standing. Some nights maybe they just get more annoyed and show it.

Hope you all enjoy! ;)

And BTW, for the record, I NEVER use a flash for any of my pics at concerts... Therefore I can't honestly understand how it could be so "distracting" to other fans, or even to the band for that matter? As I stated in my earlier post, the show really was awesome and the guys were absolutely perfect!!! And I'm very grateful that I finally got to see them do a full show. But I don't think that I'll ever go to another one of their concerts. :( I just don't feel that they really "value" their fans anymore w/ the way I was treated by security that night... Just way too many unknown rules about standing and it felt like I was in grade school or something, and it really made it hard to actually just relax and enjoy the music! I'll always love the Eagles though, but just feel like they really need to lighten up some and try to remember that it's the diehard fans like us that actually buy their albums/DVD's/ and expensive concert tix. Oh well, I guess after this many years of success they've earned the right to be sooo picky, but I dunno... maybe I'm just spoiled by the guys in Daughtry... They're always so gracious and humble and thankful and make me feel like they're genuinely happy that I'm there for them!

Jags, Im glad you're feeling better and your pictures are amazing!! Especially since you say you dont use a flash! Wow! you must have a great camera!!
I understand how you feel about all the rules and such. It is a shame. I want to see them once, we'll see how that goes. If it's as bad as that, I may just wait for Joe's solo stuff to see him again. Besides, I doubt I could afford more then one concert.

Thanks for the terrific pics!!

Jags, those pics are just awesome! You must have a very nice camera. Thanks for sharing them with us!

Looks like Tim has had a couple inches cut off his hair! Looks good though!

I'm sorry you had such a bad time with all that happened. After all these years of performing, they probably do feel that they should have a little say in what goes on. Perhaps they are getting a bit grumpy in their advancing years! And Don is exemplifying his curmudgeonly self!

And I'm sure Daughtry is a bit 'hungrier' than the Eagles at this point, and therefore, is much more obligatory to his fans.

Hi Jags,
I was at the Jacksonville concert too, and I have to agree that the guys were perfect. I did notice that they were very strict about the camera situation. I was going to try and get some pictures, but security was just a couple feet away...My biggest annoyance during the concert was this young lady in the row behind me that kept saying she had no idea who the Eagles were. I also heard her say that she thought Willie Nelson sang "Lyin' Eyes"...but overall I thoroughly enjoyed my experience.

You managed to get some really good pictures. I guess I'll have to risk it next time. I'm kinda kicking myself now for not trying :brickwall:

Jags-Thanks so very much for these wonderful pictures. I must admit, I was wondering what your take would be on the whole concert after some of the reviews I was reading about the security, the crowd and how the band was seemingly pretty disgusted with the whole thing coupled with the fact that Tim and Glenn seemed to be under the weather a bit. Sorry to hear that you might not go again because of that, but not surprised. Soda and I were justing talking about this the other night! They really need to lighten up a bit I say!

Anyways--- This picture here is absolutely fantastic. Someone here said this is about the best pic they have seen of Tim lately--I agree---Beautiful!!

Jags - Thank you SO much for your fantastic pictures. Sorry you've been sick, but it was worth the wait.

I am glad you that you enjoyed the show, but sad that the 'concert experience' was so bad for you. It really is a shame that different venues treat the shows so differently and you don't know what to expect from one show to the next - as you said "too many unknown rules". It definitely leaves a very bad impression on the fans if the venue treats you like crap. Maybe if the guys do have guidelines as we were discussing earlier, it is to try to have more consistency among the various venues. But, if that is the case, it doesn't seem to be working very well, does it? :) That said, this is all JMHO, but I really do think the guys value their fans alot. Unfortunately, being around as long as they have, and having such a huge fan base probably makes it difficult for them to appear as gracious as we'd like. This actually made me think of something - on any given night in any given city, I wonder how many faces in the audience the guys actually recognize? I mean when you consider how many faces these guys have played to over the years, my guess is that it is a fairly large number.

Well no wonder hardly anyone was standing for the show. I had purchased my ticket the day before and actually ended up getting a seat in a right stage-side balcony. The entire show I kept saying "stand up people, what's the matter with you all." And now I know. I was fortunate to be in a place where security was few and far between & no one else seemed to mind, so I got to get up and dance when the mood struck me. Which pretty much was the entire show. Needless to say I would've been super upset to have to sit down especially in the front row. I was mesmerized and energized. I literally had chills from the time How Long started til Desperado ended. I've been a fan since I was six so to finally be able to see them live truely brought it to full circle why I've been fascinated all these years. Now all I want is another show, lol.
