I know you have all seen this dvd before, but with an empty house last week, I finally got around to watching it, and am just posting a few random thoughts. First of all, what an awesome performance. Here he is, singing solo on all those songs, playing lead guitar, and still finding the energy to chat, tell jokes and generally charm the socks off the audience. So many moments, so many times I had to stop and replay something. I love it when he cracks up at the beginning, thinking he is in LA! I love it when he demonstrates his command of French: "Un petit joint?" (at least I think he says that). I even find bad boy Glenn having a surreptitious smoke somewhat endearing, I'm ashamed to say. I love his cute accent when he is reminiscing about talking to Jack Tempchin on the telephone, and I find this quote both moving and inspiring:

"We have to extract joy out of living every single day."

I'd just be interested to hear your thoughts.

It's a great show. I need to watch it again (and Kate, I will post a couple of screen shots from it for you). He's funny, he's chatty, he's his usual self. He's 'a bit hoarse' but his voice is still awesome.

I love the San Diego bootleg. There aren't but a few Glenn solo shows on CD or DVD around that I know of. IMO, San Diego is Glenn at his best. It's the most talkative performance of his I've ever seen. His charisma, sense of humor, and personality really shine here. It cracks me up when he lights up the cigarette, and says something about his fitness endorsement has expired. Yes, I think I'll have to make more time to watch it again soon. I liked the fitness bit as well, Kay! He says his voice is hoarse, but it's not noticeable to me. I'm going straight over to Frey Fever to look at your shots, Julie.

I hadn't really hoisted in that all the bootlegs came from you to start with, Lisa. Thanks for making them available. EF, you must take up Lisa's offer asap!

No, of course we didn't tape it...we don't do that. But everyone's copy started with our copy. I had never seen this show anywhere until a friend of ours who is a big Glenn fan tracked it down and was kind enough to share it with us.

And we all thank you for circulating it further. I think Lissa was probably just a bit surprised, as you are always saying people should acknowledge that they got stuff from you, yet when you get something from another person, you still say the "original" is from you and don't mention them (not even on your trading site). A bit puzzling, that.

I'm not going to rise to your bait. You're trying to start yet ANOTHER argument. I don't know what you hope to gain from it. I personally am tired of it. You make a big deal about saying people are welcome here, yet whenever we post, we are smacked down by you. So it would seem everyone except us is welcome. Bit puzzling, that.

I wanted to add about San Deigo, now that my houseguest has returned to Mississippi and I have some time (Yes, Mac fans also travel all over to groupie tour ;)).

I adore the San Diego show, and I too love his joke about his "fitness endorsement expiring." He's so playful and interactive with the audience - seems a lot looser then than he does now when performing solo. Perhaps he feels more pressure to be perfect now, I don't know.

I think that quote about extracting joy from every day is one we should all keep in mind. Dwelling on negativity does nothing for no one.

First of all I have to say the DVD is not the best from the quality and sometimes I had a hard time to understand what he says especially when people clap their hands while he’s talking.

The first great moment is when he cracks up after Sexy Girl thinking he’s in LA as Kate already said. I also laughed about his talking about the album Strange Weather and the joke about a new album title Happy Bitching Lazy Life LOL.

It was great to see him performing POMPOY, which I’ve never seen before. Love it! Sadly it was during a medley. And at the beginning of Take It Easy he mixed up the lyrics, that’s funny. I’ve never seen Glenn so funny, so chatty and relaxed. As he said talking between the songs this night just seems like a therapy for him LOL.

Sadly the audio crashed during Livin’ Right and came back at the end of Heartache Tonight.

Love his My Girl interpretation. And Desperado, this time I didn’t think he looks like Joe Cocker.http://www.ezboard.com/images/emoticons/wink.gif

Like Kate I had to stop so many times and replay something especially when he cracks up with the LA thing. Generally I repeat all his laughs it’s so lovely. All in all I really enjoyed this great show and thank you all for your recommendation.

I'm in Frey fever now and just started Live in Dublin. Can't get enough.

EF - I just knew that you would like San Diego for some reason. ;) Like I said earlier, I think it is wonderful and I have to admit to watching it quite a few times. As a matter of fact, I am listening to it now. To further show my shallowness, Glenn mentions a school classmate near the end of the show, and I looked in the Dondero High 1966 yearbook that I bought from Fred Pike, and sure enough, he is in there.

I can't wait to hear from Brooke. Hmmm, I wonder if she will like it? ;)

Michaela, I really enjoyed your review of San Diego. I'd love to know who actually recorded it. My take is that Glenn was much more relaxed than he was on Dublin because he didn't know it was being recorded. (Maybe a beer and a cigarette helped! ;) )

Yeah Kate - I did see the yearbook on ebay - I think the $90 asking price is way too much. I'd be surprised if it sells at that price, but you never know. If you all want to see the picture of the classmate, I can scan it. I was a little reluctant to post his picture on the board, but since it's a private board, it may be okay. What do you all think?

Okay ladies - I finally got around to scanning the picture of Glenn's classmate, Kenny Rose, that he mentions in the San Diego show. This is the one out of their 1966 Senior yearbook. I'll probably only leave it up for a week or two, so save it if you want it.
