Guys, I'm trying to expand the guest appearances section of GFO but I'm stuck. I can only find out so much without owning the actual albums. So here's my request. If you own one of the following albums, could you get it out and read the liner notes to see which songs Glenn appeared on, and what he did specifically (vocals, guitar, etc). You can post it here or e-mail me, but I'd love to have your help! Here is a list of the albums:

[edited to take out the ones Julie and Brooke helped me with; these ones below are the ones I still need help on]

John David Souther - John David Souther (1972)

David Blue - Nice Baby and the Angel (1973)

Randy Newman - Good Old Boys (1974)

John Prine - Common Sense (1975)

Danny O'Keefe - So Long Harry Truman (1975)

Carly Simon - Another Passenger (1976)

John David Souther - Black Rose (1976)

Fool's Gold - Fool's Gold (1976)

Ned Doheny - Hard Candy (1976)

Joni Mitchell - Don Juan's Reckless Daughter (1977)

Karla Bonoff - Karla Bonoff (1977)

Jack Tempchin - Jack Tempchin (1978 )

John David Souther - You're Only Lonely (1979)

Mickey Thomas - Alive Alone (1981)

Jack Mack and the Heart Attack - Cardiac Party (1982)

Lou Ann Barton - Old Enough (1982)

Various Artists - Girls Just Want to Have Fun Soundtrack (1985)

Jack Tempchin - Staying Home (1991)

Little River Band - Reminiscing (1995)

Jack Tempchin - Lonely Midnight (1995)

Jake Trout and the Flounders - I Love to Play (1998 )

Thanks again guys.

I will fill in what I know.

Ramblin' Gamblin' Man - backing vocals & guitar on the title track.

Good Old Boys - backing vocals on Rednecks (I don't own this. There could be more).

Heart Like A Wheel - acoustic guitar on You Can Close Your Eyes.

So What - backing vocals on Help Me Through The Night. There could be more.

You Can't Argue With A Sick Mind - backing vocals & I assume acoustic guitar on Help Me Through The Night.

Little Criminals (This is the album everyone should have for Frey involvement):

Short People - backing vocals

Little Criminals - electric guitar

Baltimore - guitars (lead) & backing vocals

Rider In The Rain - backing vocals

Stranger In Town - lead guitar on Till It Shines. He gets a special thanks.

Running On Empty - he co-wrote the lyrics of Cocaine. I don't remember if he actually appears on the album.

But Seriously Folks - backing vocals & arrangement on Tomorrow (this is the album where he is called 'The Lone Arranger').

21 At 33 - backing vocals on White Lady, White Powder. The subject matter is obvious. The song is awful.

Against The Wind - backing vocals on Fire Lake & the title track.

Bad Luck Streak In Dancing School - backing vocals on Bill Lee & Wild Age.

Hits! - backing vocals on Look What You've Done For Me.

One More Song - backing vocals on the title track (I THINK).

Innocent Age - backing vocals on Hard To Say.

The Distance - backing vocals on Shame On The Moon. With Little Criminals this is the essential backing performance to have.

I have some of these.

On Running on Empty, as Fp said, the only credit on the album is for the lyrics on Cocaine.

For Everyman-harmony on Red Neck Friend, co-writer on Take It Easy.

Linda Ronstadt-LR: Glenn-Arranger, guitar on Rock Me on the Water, I Fall to Pieces, Birds, Faithful, and Rescue Me. Background vocals on Faithful and Rescue Me.

Linda Ronstadt-Don't Cry Now: co writer of Desperado (of course) and electric guitar on The Fast One.

Souther, Hillman, Furay-Trouble in Paradise: On Somebody Must Be Wrong- background vocals by The Sons of the Desert (Glenn Frey, Don Henley & J.D. Souther)

I didn't know where to post this. I looked at the page with the cover songs and found the cover version of I've Got Mine sung by Ute Freudenberg. Do you ever listen to German schlager music? I doubt it. That's kind of music which makes you sick, honestly. You listen to country music in the US, the Germans (only the older people ;)) listen to schlager music <shudder>.

Anyway, I found the German version and listened to it. The sound clip is only 30 sec. but that's enough. All I can say is AWFUL http://www.ezboard.com/images/emoticons/eek.gif

It's the fourth song.

LOL! I did listen to this when I found the cover, because I was curious. Is it an approximate translation of Glenn's words, or did she just use the tune and make up her own words entirely?

From what I can hear during the 30 sec. she made up her own words. http://www.ezboard.com/images/emoticons/eyes.gif
