Oh my, my. Woo hoo hoo! Last night was fabulous! I had a wonderful time, even if hubby didn’t get to go. I got to meet up with Peek and her friend Kristy during intermission and after the show. It was great to meet you girls and another member of The Border! My younger brother also came and we hung out a bit before the show. He lives there and the last time he saw them was when he was 17. The same show with me back in 1976. He thought they were awesome! I finally climbed in to bed at 1:35 this morning. Managed to get a bit lost getting out of town, but finally found a street I had heard of and found my route back home.

My niece was glad to take my hubbies ticket, and having never been to see them before, she loved them. She turns 20 next week, and I think we have a new convert! Our seats were 8th row, towards the center, smack between Joe and Glenn. We noticed empty seats in the 4th row and moved up there during the first set, but people came to claim them during OOTN and we had to go back. But that was ok. During Timothy’s little talk he asked if there were any college students there and there were quite a few. He said he was surprised, which got a big laugh.

The guys came out as usual and broke in to “How Long”. They all looked great in their suits, as usual. It was in the upper 70’s outside and a bit warm in the arena. I thought they might lose the coats a little early, but they didn’t take them off till after the acoustic set. I thought Glenn sounded a little hoarse. I was a little bummed because after the song got started everyone sat down. It was typical of the whole night. I never heard anything about any fliers or anyone telling people to sit down. It seemed everyone just wanted to sit back and listen. And I never heard or saw anyone mention anything about cameras. People were obviously taking pictures everywhere, all the time. Never noticed any death stares either! That’s a good thing! I hope mine turn out, but I am short and people in front of me were taller, so we’ll see. I’ll get them up ASAP!

Next I was expecting Busy Being Fabulous. It didn’t happen! Don headed backstage and Timothy came up to the mike and started talking about his new one IDWTHAM! I thought ‘oh no, they’ve cut BBF’. I was shocked. I wonder why? Anyway, Tim sounded and looked great!

Joe did GOTC and he looked and sounded great. I like his longer hair, although he did have it a bit slicked back with product. It got a little fluffier as the show went on.

Don’s first song was HC! He sounded a little hoarse, too. But he really looked fab!

The rest of the set went as usual, but my side of the floor seats remained calm and sat most of the time. They would stand and clap at the end of each song, but immediately sat back down. Grrrrrr. I wanted to dance!

Timothy got a huge ovation after LWKUA.

LROOE and WITW were absolutely beautiful. Somebody rocked!

Finally during Walk Away, Joe got a rousing ovation and people danced during most of it.

The band intros were great. We never got any of Tim singing the ‘tempted’ song or any of Glenn singing ‘My Girl’, but his dance during his intro was too funny! He really got in to it.

Don really got a huge ovation when he was introduced. So did Joe.

After that the guys removed their coats and I knew they were going to get with it! Joe came to the mike and told about Life’s Been Good which everyone thought hilarious. I took another sign and got it on the hat cam, if only very briefly. He really moves fast with it when panning the crowd.

The guys all seemed in a good mood and very animated.

Glenn did TIE and he sounded so good. My alltime favorite.

The crowd took over during the end of Desperado and Don just kind of waited for it to end and the lights went down. I knew it was over.

I took roses and rushed up as far as I could get (behind the 3rd row seats) to try to get them thrown up on stage. I had to pass them forward and never saw if they actually made it.

But, it was a great night. The Eagles are awesome! I’m a bit sad to think this will probably be my last time to see them. PEW has already begun to set in.

WOW---they cut BBF! I wonder why and will be curious to hear if it was just last night and if they will be performing it Sunday in Indy (is anyone here doing Moline tonight or Detroit Saturday?).

So glad you got to meet up with Peek and can't wait to hear from her also. Can't wait to see your pics. Glad you had a good time and converted the niece! :hilarious:

Very glad to hear from you as well as Maleah that Tim seems to be back up to par but poor Don & Glenn---hope the 2 days off tomorrow & Friday get their voices rested up before the weekend!!

Thank you, thank you, thank you, Brooke! I knew you would love the show. I'm so glad that you and PB met up and looking forward to hearing from her as well. Hopefully, BBF was cut only for this one show because Don seems to be struggling with his voice at the moment - similar to when they cut IDWTHA when Tim was struggling a few weeks ago.

But girl - you are in SO much trouble if you already have PEW!!!

Thanks for the review Brooke! Sorry you missed out on BBF. I think (and hope) it's temporary, and also that the guys get well soon - especially before Sunday!

Thanks for that, TBF.

I don't think Peek will be back till tomorrow night. And she said that people over on Tim's side were standing and dancing a lot more than in my area.

And let me add, the guys all got great standing ovations. It was just that Don's and Joe's were noticeably bigger. And probably because they are more well known solo, as someone mentioned somewhere else.

Thanks, Brooke - glad you had a great time. Try to keep PEW at bay just a little while longer. Reminisce about all the good moments. It sounds like there were quite a few!

That's strange about BBF. I presume it was to do with Don's voice. I hope the guys get better soon. I feel like my head's going to explode today every time I sneeze, so I sympathise if they're feeling rough!

I'm happy to hear that there were no camera/seating telling offs ;)

I'm so glad you enjoyed the show, Brooke, and that you and Jess got to meet. Were there any other songs that Don's or Glenn's voice sounded rough during?

Brooke
03-18-2009, 04:05 PM
You know, thinking back, Glenn's voice sounded pretty rough on most of his songs. Still good though, and he carried on really well.

To me, it seemed that Don's voice got better as he warmed up.

My pictures are crap. It seemed that just as I would click the shutter, bright lights would come on and wash out everything or people in front of me would raise their arms up or move in front of me.

Here's the only three worth posting at all.

Hey Brooke - sometimes it's quality over quantity. In this case, it was definitely worth the price of several rolls of film just to get those pics of Glenn all 'messed up'!

Brooke, I really enjoyed your review and your pictures-thanks for posting!
I had a similar experience with taking pictures of our guys. I took about 40 or 50 pictures, and only 3 or 4 came out! I just don't do well with that digital camera at all! My hubby had just taught me how to use it that afternoon, and I obviously forgot everything he said! I felt just terrible when I saw the pictures, but I was grateful that a few did turn out. It would have been a shame if NONE turned out at all!

Great review and pics Brooke  Hope your roses made it. Did you include a secret message - lol Oh yes, I still remember the sign you threw up on stage at St. Louis with your secret message on the back (Keep coming back to Missouri) - nope, don't even try to deny it. How many times have they played in Missouri now????????

I just got home a little while ago but i gotta make this quick because I have to get ready for work....back to reality now. I don't wanna go to work because i'm so exhausted but i gotta do what i gotta do.

WOW!!!! Another amazing concert!!! I had such a wonderful time!!! And it was great to get to meet Brooke and her niece!! We were hoping to meet up before the concert but i was running soooo late. It took us nearly 8 hours to get there and the closer we got to the arena we ran into traffic. Needless to say, I was FREAKING OUT!!!! We ended up missing the first two songs...at least at the time I thought it was the first 2 songs till I read Brooke's review. I can't believe they cut BBF!!!! We walked into the arena as Tim started IDWTHAM.

The guys all looked and sounded great!!! Glenn was sounding a little hoarse but I thought he pulled off pretty well. I thought Don did great hitting the high notes. Joe rocked out like always and since I was on Tim's side i got to check him out quite a bit. He looked and sounded great.

People around us were standing and dancing for most of the night. I loved it. It's so much more fun when people around you stand up and dance. Right after HC I saw Don hand his drumsticks to a crew member and the guy came around and gave the sticks to a little girl that was about 5 seats down from me. Don really has a soft spot for the kids.

I'm running outta time here so i'm just gonna skip to the end and i'll be back after work in the morning to add more and post my pics.

I got 4 single roses to give to the guys. They came to Tim's side last so I was right up front ready to give them the roses. I got as close I possibly could and the security was right in my face but i didn't back off one bit. Glenn came over first and I was waving the roses trying to get his attention but he never saw them. Joe came over and he saw me with the roses and he actually told me "Sorry I can't walk to the front of the stage." I tried to tell the security that i wanted to give the roses to the guys but they weren't budging. I finally threw them up there and all but one made it on the stage. Joe and Tim walked over to pick them up. Joe handed one to Glenn and he held it to his heart...so cute!!! Joe picked his up and looked at me and said thank you. Poor Don didn't get a rose. Dang it!!! I don't know what happened to the one that didn't make it on stage. After the guys left the stage it was gone.

I really gotta go get ready for work now. Here's just a couple of pics from tuesday night. I'll get the rest posted tomorrow.

Great pics and reviews guys! I love that last one.........Don actually looks really young in that pic...very cute. It looks like Joe's pointing with his right hand...... :fear::hilarious:

They sang BBF in Fargo so like Soda said, I'm guessing it's just a temporary removal until Don is feelin better. Like Brooke said for this show, Don started out really hoarse for ours too but warmed up as the night went on. Glenn sounded like he was hoarse throughout....I felt sorry for both of them that they still don't seem to be feeling better. :(

We were goin to all write something on a little hard hat mini "helmet cam" and give it to Joe......but everybody made fun of me for it so I didn't. lol I really wanted to come up with something unique for Don but couldn't think of anything. :( How cute that you got Joe, Glenn, and Tim's attention with the roses! What sweeties :D

You know what Willie? I thoroughly enjoyed being on Tim's side. It was great to get to see him in action a little more closely this time. The only bad thing about it was that for the most part, my view was obstructed by cymbals whenever Don was on the drums and percusion.

Since we're going to be in the second row Sunday night, I was thinking about doing something out of the ordinary when Joe points the camera at us, but I can't figure out what to do. I was thinking about comically making out with my husband, but I don't think he'll do it!

Aww, Brooke, I wish your side would've stood up more. I had a blast on our side. My friend Christie, couldn't believe how great the guys sounded. She told me a few times that she thought that they sounded amazing, just like on the albums. Every once in a while she would ask me questions about who was who in the back up band and what song was coming up next. A few of the people sitting around us heard us and they were surprised about how much I knew about them and then they started asking me questions.

When the guys came out to do the encore, Tim and Glenn were standing by each other and Tim didn't have his guitar plugged in. Glenn saw this and laughed and Tim just shrugged his shoulders and gave a look as if to say "Oops". It was really cute.

I forget which other city Don did this in but during The Long Run he was telling people to stand up and dance. Pretty cool of him, i thought.

I'll try to think of some other things that happened while I get some more pics posted.

I think Brooke mentioned that it was slicked back but got more tousled as the night went on. I noticed it in the beginning but it didn't seem like it was as slick as usual. I'm not a fan of the slicked back hair on him either.

Fab, Jess, thanks so much! The pic of Tim & Glenn (where Glenn's looking in your direction) is wonderful.

:yay: for Don telling people to get on up during The Long Run!

Okay here's the pics with the roses.

Glenn didn't see them so when Joe walked over he saw me with them

Joe was telling me that he couldn't walk to the front of the stage to get them so I just threw them up there.

How cute of Joe to hand one to Glenn

What great pictures, thank you so much. I can't help but notice what the different stage lights do to the guys' hair color. In some of the pictures Timothy's hair looks almost dark brown and in some very light. Glenn's goes from dark brown to light brown. Don's goes from med brown to kind of a dark blond. Joe's goes from white to golden blond.

This must be Dirty Laundry, I remember seeing in the far corner images flipping up and I knew they were articles but I couldn't see the entire backdrop. Of course most of my attention was on the little drummer boy anyway.

Thanks to all of you who have managed to capture the screen images.

PB - thank you so much for your review and pictures. That is a great sequence of shots you got with the roses, and it is too bad that Don didn't get one. On well, at least you got three of them on stage. I couldn't even get anywhere close to get ours on stage in Hampton - those damn over-zealous security guys again! :cuss: Anyway, you got some great shots.

Thanks for sharing your great photo's. Love the 'Roses' story ones. What a memory of the show they are for you. You're so lucky to have had such a special 'Eagles moment'.

Can't wait to see them in June.

Jess, I think Timmy is the cutest in your Rose Sequence photos...in the one shot where he's got his arms stretched out up high, looking like he's going to dive forward to get to those roses no matter what! And then, when he actually has his rose and is holding it up like a trophy! I love that!

Also thanks for the pics--especially love this one-which I'm sure you would know. I will put it in Schmit Sexiness if someone hasn't done it already.

Well i'm glad that you all like the pictures. I'm more than happy to share them with all of you.

I also love that the pics with the roses tell a story. The funny thing is that I didn't even think about taking pics right then. I was just so excited to give them to the guys that I handed my camera to my friend Christie to hold for me while I made my way to the stage and she took those pictures. Thank goodness she did because now I have something to look at and treasure.

I've had PEW since we left Missouri. I keep telling Christie that I wanna turn back time so that we can go back to the concert. This was more than likely my last time to see the guys. I want so badly to see them in Kansas City next saturday but i have to work weekends. I've never called in before so there is a first time for everything.

Great pictures, Peek! I love the ones with the roses, too. How great Christie took those pics for you! I wish mine would have made it to the stage, but as I couldn't get anywhere close to the front, I had to pass them through 3 rows of people and I don't know what they did with them! Idiots! It was strange the way they had the sections. The first 3 rows were continuous. No aisles. Then from row 4 back, there were 2 sections. So,even though I was in the middle and could make it up to behind row 3, that's as far as I could get. Oh well.

It was great meeting you and Christie! I know I'd love to go to KC too, but funds will not allow! PEW is very bad.

Peek, those are great pictures with the roses! I can't believe Don missed out on his rose with you, too, just like he missed his roses with me! Bless his heart . I don't know when I can afford to see him again, but I will HAVE to make it up to him! ;)

Maleah, I've always told myself that I would never call in unless I would absolutely have to....but this is one of those "have to" times isn't it?

I wonder what happened to your roses too, Brooke. Maybe someone in the Eagles crew got them backstage for you. Christie said she saw a crew member run over and pick up the rose that I threw that didn't make it on the stage. Maybe someone took them backstage for you.

DF, Don certainly deserves a make out...I mean make up for the roses from you and I both. I just gotta figure out when and where I can see them in concert again.

From a blog, something nice again about Tim!!! Yay!!!!

http://orcaarrow.livejournal.com/30992.html

"On Tuesday Jen and I went to see the Eagles. I am so glad we got to go. Since Jen is an employee of the University of Missouri we got tickets at a reduced price. The concert was awesome. They've returned to the original, electric, version of Hotel California. I took years to adjust to the Hell Freezes Over album version. I've now gotten to the point where I like it. The concert was wonderful. They looked liked they were having a good time. I really enjoyed seeing Don Henley and Glen Fry play live. Joe Walsh was amazing. Although I'm convinced Joe has no idea where he is most of the time. I didn't know Timothy B Schmit before Tuesday, but he was excellent. I didn't realize that he contributed lead vocals on several of the Eagles tunes.

After the concert Jen and I stayed behind to let some of the traffic clear out. I was amazed at that small army that emerged to breakdown the stage and associated equipment (the media pit and hanging screens). The worst part of it was seeing all of the garbage that was left behind. I was really disappointed in the amount of detritus that was left for someone else behind for someone else to clean up."

Yes, Yes, YES! lol I look at it this way......you can always make up for a day of work.......but if you miss an Eagles concert and this is the last tour....there is NO MAKING IT UP! EVER! :D Not that I'm trying to be the little devil on your shoulder......or am I? lol

I really, really, REALLY wish that a bunch of us could go and take up the first few rows at the same show. It would be so much fun! It was so much fun at the Fargo show because the 55 year old lady in front of me (25) and my best friend (20) and she kept turning around and singing the songs to us because she was so impressed that we knew more of the words than she did. LOL It was a blast!

Well, as of today, a few things have come up that i now need to save my money for. Reality has some bad timing when it comes to going to see the Eagles in concert. But, Maleah, with your encouragment i almost had myself talked into calling in and going this saturday. I was seriously close to doing it.

I think it would be the concert of all concerts if we were to all be at the same one!!! We would have soooo much fun!!! One of these days (or rather One Of These Nights) it will happen.

Since there's a seating rule in place we'd probably get in lots of trouble cause I don't think they'd be able to keep us sitting for long periods of time. If at all.

I did this last year met up with some friends from another forum in Nashville one day and then Birmingham the next. It is so much fun travelling and meeting up with fellow rockers to see your favorite band play. And actually ending up in the same vicinity of seats makes it even more fun. I'm doing it again in August, but staying within FL state limits this time. :)

Too Funny!!! This kinda happened to me in Chicago. The woman behind me made a few comments about how I knew all the words to the songs so I must be a huge fan--My hubby confirmed that with a roll of the eyes to her. :hilarious: Finally toward the end of the concert, she tapped me on the shoulder and said she knew I was just to young to remember all these songs. :eyebrow: She obviously had very bad eyesight!! :hilarious: I told her since I was 45, I remembered very well when all these songs came out. I'll hand it to her---she genuinely looked shocked! :)

LOL! Too funny guys. When we were walking into the Fargodome with our Joe outfits on, we struck up a convo with 3 ladies walking in beside us who must have been 45-55. My brother rolled his eyes and told them "I don't claim her. I don't have a clue who she is" and one of the ladies goes "oh well in that case you can sit with my friends and I'll sit with your sister and her friends! They look like they know how to have a good time!" :hilarious: The look on my brother's face was priceless!
