tbs fan posted this in another thread (https://www.eaglesonlinecentral.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1516), but I thought it was big enough news to deserve its own!

According to Rusty Young's wife Mary (http://www.poconut.com/index.php?&content=community&com=board&brd=topic_227810), Timothy will be putting in an appearance with Poco at Stagecoach.

And in the thread, Mary says they're working on getting Randy, too! Can you imagine???

Sure wish I could go!

This is such exciting news! I sure would love to go, but that is so far and such short notice...Oh well, hopefully he will be making another appearance  I've always wanted to see the Timothy Poco line-up in person! (this would be minus George unfortunately)

I've been listening to Poco on youtube... and OMG, I didn't realize that I actually know some of their songs. They were freaking amazing!!! Of course, I'm only listening to the old school stuff.

I can't believe they didn't reach Eagle status. I'm shocked, because they are amazing!!! Really!

That's a show I wish I could attend. I hope to catch it on youtube.

BTW, Soda, on Timothy's site, is there a way you could upload Rose of Cimarron to it? I'm so afraid it's going to be off of youtube soon and then we won't see beautiful Tim singing.

I was just entertaining the idea of going until I saw the ticket prices :fainting: Unless I'm reading the site wrong, anywhere even remotely close to the stage is ranging from $300 to $500. The $700 seats that are REALLY close have sold out! These people sure have better funds than I do...Still wish I could go :brickwall:

TimothyBFan
04-03-2009, 12:11 PM
 WOW---that much? I didn't even look at the price because other than Poco, there isn't anyone there I would really wish to see (sorry all you Country fans!) and wouldn't travel to do it anyways. But that is way beyond imagination for ticket prices!

Ive always been a dreamer

Good grief - Makes Eagles ticket looks cheap! I'd love to go. but even if I could go, there is no way that I'd be willing to pay that outrageous price.

Right now I'm waiting to find out which stage Poco will be playing. :brickwall: If it's not the Mane (as in horse's) stage then I'm definitely going since all I have to buy is a $99 GA ticket for Sunday.:partytime: They should be posting who is playing where in the next couple of days. Otherwise I'm going to have to get creative. Got to lay out some major bucks for FWM, Jackson Browne and U2 in the next month so I doubt that I'll be buying any Gold Circle seats this time. Not for a one hour set.:fear:

I'm hoping to get a photog pass for the Mane stage photog-pit if all else fails which will give me access to the stage for Poco's first 4 songs. I talked to a lot of people in the photog-pit last year and a lot of those people were just fans who requested a photo-pass and some some of those people had nothing but a digital camera. I actually have a professional Nikon so if they change the rules and require a prof camera I'm good. Long story short I'm keeping my fingers crossed on that request right now. Wish me luck.

P.S. How was the Mac show in Pgh?

Good New everyone. After a ton of on-line research, I finally found what I needed to know-Poco will be playing the Palomino Stage at 4:40 P.M on Sunday, April 26th. This is great news as that stage is GA. Thank God! Just ordered my ticket. FYI with fees it ran $101. Not bad. Found the info on Richie Furay's web-site. Here is the link: http://www.richiefuray.com/liveshows.html

Let's hope they don't change their minds. Anyway I plan on being the first one at the stage and am not moving for anything. I will have tons of pix to upload afterward you can be sure of that. WhooHoo!:partytime: That also means an early night for yours truly as they should be done by 7:00 pm at the latest and I can get out while the gettings good unless I decide to stay for Pure Prarie League.

If anyone else is going solo and wants to hook up PM me.

If you're coming from out of town here is a tip: If you fly in then go to Ontario International Airport, Ontario, CA-avoid LAX it is a nightmare and Palm Springs will be very expensive. Best place to stay is Indio-good luck with rooms. And, lastly it will probably be 100 degrees during the day-i :soda:t was last year.

I am sooo excited. :hilarious::hilarious:Thanks again Nancy :angel:for staying on top of things or I would have missed it completely.

I understand completely-price now days is an "object." :worried: But the good news is all you need is a one day, April 26th, General Admission ticket-$101 with fees. The high-priced tickets starting at $299 are for the Mane stage.

Poco is playing the Palomino stage which is GA-standing room only-no seats. From the pix I have seen of last year's show, the Palomino stage is in a tent so if the temp does get into the hundreds, as it often does in Indio, then it won't be as bad as being out in the scorching hot desert sun.

Thanks everyone for the words of encouragement. I'm still pinching myself this morning as I just couldn't see spending $850 for a seat I would only need for an hour and had figured the best I could hope for is a reserved seat in the back. Anyway, I was over on the PocoNut web-board and from what they are reporting, Timothy will be playing a couple of numbers.

Poco, Timothy Schmit reunite for Calif. festival
Fri Apr 17, 2009 2:41am BST
By Gary Graff

DETROIT (Billboard) - Timothy B. Schmit says he has to do some "homework" in order to perform with Poco for the first time in 32 years next week.

The singer and bassist, who was part of the pioneering country-rock outfit from 1970 to 1977 -- stepping in for Randy Meisner, who joined the Eagles, then subsequently replacing Meisner in the Eagles -- is joining fellow Poco alumni Richie Furay and Jim Messina for the group's April 26 performance at the Stagecoach festival in Indio, Calif. Co-founder Rusty Young and longtime guitarist Paul Cotton are still active members of Poco.

"(Poco) was a huge part of my career in music," Schmit told Billboard.com. "It was a huge stepping stone. I was very young and very excited and happy to be in it, and it took me all over the world, really. I heard myself on the radio here and there, and it was really great. So, you know, I treasure the time and experience I had during that time in my life and in my career."

Schmit, who was on tour with the Eagles when he was approached about the Stagecoach show, said he hesitated when Furay asked him to be part of Poco again.

"I'm of the mind to look forward, not back," said Schmit, who's donating his Stagecoach fee to original Poco drummer George Grantham, who suffered a stroke on stage with Poco in 2005 and is no longer able to play. "I really mulled it over quite a bit, and I decided this would be the (right) time, so I agreed to do it. And I'm glad I did."

Young said that besides Poco's biggest hit, "Crazy Love," the Stagecoach set will include songs such as "Kind Woman," "Good Feeling to Know" and "You Better Thing Twice," as well as "Your Mama Don't Dance," Messina's post-Poco hit with Kenny Loggins.

Schmit, Furay, Messina and the rest of Poco will warm up for Stagecoach with an April 22 show in Santa Ynez, Calif. Young said Messina has hired a video crew to document the reunion, though it's unclear if the footage will be released.

"I think it's going to be great fun," Young said. "I think it's a for-old-time's-sake show. It's a perfect occasion and venue. We all shared common dreams...The music was important to us. The friendship was important to us, and it's still the same way today. That's what makes it all work. We still care about each other, and we care about the music...The music stands up after 40 years, and that's something to be proud of."

The Poco reunion isn't likely to stretch into a long-term concern, however. Schmit has more tour dates coming up with the Eagles and will release a solo album later this year. Young is working on both a memoir and a solo album; he and Furay will also be opening for some upcoming Loggins & Messina concerts.

I'm looking into it as we speak. Seems as if Poco is doing 2 nights (April 21st/22nd) at a saloon called the Maverick (a bar) :nahnah: and a show on April 23rd at the Clark Center all in Santa Ynez. The rehearsal, sans show, on April 22nd is going to be filmed from what I understand. Will let you know. Thanks all for the heads up-again I would have missed the events entirely.

Anyway, I'm exhausted right now as I went to see Bruce Springsteen last night and had to go to work on three hours sleep. The concert was super and the buzz was "Where's Patty?" A no-show for both L.A. dates. Is the rumor true? Bruce say it ain't so! Seems they would have made some announcement if she were sick and not, perhaps, a woman scorned. We will see. Mike Ness from Social Distortion sat in on a couple songs, as did Max Weinberg's son (also a drummer like his dad), and they rocked the Sports Arena. :applause: I love L.A.

The Maverick is sold out for tomorrow night. :partytime: WhooHoo. :partytime:

PocoNuts on Poco's web-board, said that TimmothyB is not going to play at Arroyo Grande on Thursday night after all. But we will see what we will see. Either way both venues are too far a drive for me-3 to 4 hrs. Two hrs is the most I'll drive to see anyone.

So the best I can do is Indio folks! But I will be there. My ticket came yesterday! Now everyone just pray the temp stays under a hundred. :brickwall: Right now it is over a hundred in Indio-I live 90 miles west of Indio and it is ninety-seven right now! Yikes! It is supposed to cool off starting tomorrow and hopefully it will only hit about ninety on Sunday! At least the stage is indoors under a tent so I won't get :nahnah:heat stroke.:soda:

Last Friday, night Sir Paul played for 3 1/2 hrs at Coachella which uses the same grounds as StageCoach. That has to be a record! Hope some of the old Macca Magic is still in the air-waves when Poco hits the stage.

Patti had an accident falling off her horse recently, after Easter, and was evaluated at a hospital down the shore. I imagine they told her to rest up.

Bruce has been grooming Jay (Weinberg) to fill in for his dad at those concerts where Max cannot break free from The Tonight Show with Conan O'Brian. Although Conan has been very understanding during previous tours-- because he has the new show/time slot/location, there apparently will be a few concerts (mainly in Europe) that Max will have to miss so he can be on the set with Conan. Jay apparently is a quick learn, and is pretty talented (and lucky!) for his mere 19 years!

A couple of fans reported on Poco's board, Tim sang all night last night at the Maverick after a couple hours of rehearsal so that is a good sign that he'll be doing the same thing at StageCoach. As long as he's on the stage Sunday night, I'm good. The weather is really cooperating and they predict the desert will only get up to 82 degrees. Thank you God! Can't wait Carol-Lynn!

Found this recent article (http://www.sfexaminer.com/entertainment/Poco-stops-to-smell-the-rose-43494392.html) with Rusty Young that mentions Timothy, Randy, the Eagles and Stagecoach. Turns out Young is writing an autobiography, too. I'm sure you PocoNuts already know that, but it's news to me!

An excerpt:

Young is finally writing an autobiography chronicling his four crazy decades in country rock. Previous books, he says, “always got it wrong, which is infuriating.” So his account boasts characters such as Janis Joplin, Jimi Hendrix, Gram Parsons and renowned alums Randy Meisner and Timothy B. Schmit, both of whom Poco lost to the Eagles.

But he’s not bitter. “If the Eagles weren’t so successful in the mid-’70s, we probably would’ve been dropped by our record company before our ‘Legend’ album happened in ’78,” he says.

The history is still being scripted. On a rare Eagles break, Schmit will rejoin Young and co-vocalist Paul Cotton for its Stagecoach Festival appearance in Indio on Sunday. Furay and Messina were already on board, Young says after playing a recent reunion gig in Missouri.

Poco will soon be staging “Rose of Cimarron” concerts, playing the watershed set from start to finish.

No new album to tout, Young says, but he’s content.

“The way I look at it is, I wish I had Don Henley’s ranch in Wyoming. But at every concert we play, I meet people who say, ‘This Poco song was played at my wedding’ or ‘This one was playing when I proposed to my wife.’ There are all these stories about how our music has affected people’s lives. And that, to me, is much more valuable."

I have had my share of moments of weakness, but I don't think I can go through with this. I really would love to fly out to see them... :sigh:

Hello from sunny SoCal! Less than EIGHT HOURS TO GO!:partytime:

I've been up since day-break getting ready and hope to leave within the hour. Gates open at noon and the first band takes the Palomino stage at 1:30 P.M. I hope to be one of the first to stake out my spot at the stage and am taking extra batteries and an extra 2 gig disc to make sure I can capture most/all of the 70 minute set and will post it tomorrow-maybe a pix or two tonight as I should be home by 9:00 p.m. Not sticking around for Kid Rock or Kenny Chesney since traffic will be a nightmare then and I have a 90 minute drive as it is.

The good thing is, the weather has cooled down about thirty degrees since last week-end so the heat shouldn't be an issue. Just getting a spot up close. A lot of people on the StageCoach chat forum are more interested in the acts on the Mane stage so I'm hoping that's where they will stay leaving Poco to the PocoNuts.

Stay tuned!
