I was thinking it might be fun to share sites we visit or stumble across that might be of interest to our fellow Borderers.

I was just sent this link, and I think it's a hoot!

http://dorkyearbook.com/

ETA: I saw one girl with her Atari (http://dorkyearbook.com/photo/1280/96181861/1/6pYT6bL7smaexa3gjR6YSbQ0). I remember the thrill of getting one of those! And it came with the awesome game of COMBAT (http://www.atariguide.com/0/090.php) free in the package! Rock on! ;)

Well, I think I have a picture to send into that blog. I won't post it in the body, but if you'd like to see my early dorkitude....

My family, Christmas morning 1984, playing Space Invaders on our new Atari. I'm holding the Connect Four. Note our amazement at this magnificent piece of modern technology.

(Oh my gosh, my sisters would kill me if they saw this!!! lol)

At the time, I was unconcerned that the Eagles had officially announced their breakup with the release of Glenn and Don's solo albums, lol.

Nice family pic, Soda! We had the Connect Four, but not the Atari :weep:...
and for what it's worth, Connect Four was still popular with Graham a few years back! A timeless classic, I guess!

Ha! Too funny Soda! That actually reminds me of my kids back then. I think my daughter is about your age. She's 31 and your pic there reminds me a bit of her.

As someone who teaches web design, I find this site both hilarious and useful at teaching my technical writers what NOT to do!

This site tells you what song was #1 on the day you were born:

Mine was "Kung Fu Fighting" by Carl Douglas. (Why couldn't it have been "Best of My Love"? :sigh:)

In the British charts which are the ones we tend to use here it was
Cinderella Rockefella by Esther & Abi Ofarim

In the US it was
Love Is Blue - Paul Mauriat

Thank for that site Soda!

Ive always been a dreamer

Mine was Cold, Cold Heart by Tony Bennett.

I also checked out all of the guys and here's what came up:

Don - Peg of My Heart - The Harmonicats

Timothy - Near You - Frances Craig

Joe - Near You - Frances Craig

Glenn - Buttons and Bows - Dinah Shore

Well, I never heard of Near You or Frances Craig but that must have been a pretty big hit in 1947.

These sites never fail to give me a laugh when I need it. It's just a collection of funny/weird/bizarre things that people have overheard on public transport. Some of them crack me up.

A friend of mine told me about this site. I too became addicted to it for a while but only once did I see any animals come to the watering hole. I had better luck with the brown bears in Alaska (or somewhere?). It is very addictive.

I thought we had a thread for interesting sites but I can't seem to find it so I just started a new one.

A friend sent this site to me this morning and it's pretty cooland freaky at the same time. Just type in your address and it shows your house inside of a snow globe.

No, really, I got a scene of a highway.

I assume it works from the mapping systems? I know if you type in my brother's address into Googlemaps, you get a field about a quarter mile from his house.

I actually get a picture of my house and the house across the alley. I took a screen cap of it. Mine is the one with the black shutters closest, but it has to be an older picture because there's a giant butterfly in our front yard now and a little decorative black rod iron fence. The other house is now empty and has a lot of plants around that side by the alley. I think that black suv in front and a bit to the left of our house is my son's old vehicle he sold about 4 years ago.

Google doesn't have a 'street view' of my house, so I get an aerial photo of my house, which doesn't look as cool!

I think it was taken a few years ago as well. The hedge has not yet peaked over the front wall. In fact, on closer examination it is possible that the hedge may not even have been planted which puts it as late 07, maybe 08

The Serie del Caribe will be in my Town from Feb. 1st. to 7. Is like Latin America Base ball World Series. Pro teams champs of Puerto Rico, Dominic Republic, Venezuela and Mex. Local team our neighbors from Obregon City, Sonora The Yaquis. Good ball indeed, plenty of MLB players.
