short rant - As some of you know, my family and I are moving to Colorado in a few weeks...I am SOOO ready...things here are just starting to frustrate me more and more...I won't go into to it all, but here's the gist...

Have you ever worked with someone who just wouldn't let things go and let people do what they are hired to do...like, a control freak? I mean this is so frustrating! This person I work for controlls everything! Then complains that she doesn't have time for anything and is so busy and blah, blah, blah...but IF she would let ME do MY job, I could make it so much easier for her...:brickwall: humpf!!!

Anyway - knowing that I have basically 8 weeks left gives the strength and fortitude to hold on...but I can tell you, when I leave, I will not be looking back - only forward...

Now, to settle my mood, I am spending the evening with the Eagles...F1 (both disks). I'm getting into my jamies early, grabbing some http://media.bigoo.ws/content/smile/party/party_28.gif and a :soda: (and maybe my hubby) and I'm going just let everything else fade away...I'll go to sleep thinking of how very soon, I really will be the new kid in town!

rant over...thank you for listening!

In my last job before they made me 'redundant'. Although I had been doing the same work for five years, I moved to a new location and my supervisors were totally unsympathetic and looked over my shoulder every minute. They were not exactly control freaks but they never understood that I could do the job alone without supervision.

I try not to talk about my work history on this board but what you said struck a chord with me so I thought I'd respond. I hope your move to Colorado goes well.... think of a certain song that was written about such a move, called River Of Dreams.

The excitement and anticipation of moving is probably making it seem like forever (the last mile is the longest, and all that) but very soon you won't have to deal with your boss ever again! Just hang in there. Let it roll off your back and watch the guys when you need a bit of a lift. What an adventure you've got to look forward to!

Are you talking about the song by Billy Joel? Good tune..

Thank you for your kind wishes...

Actually, although that is a great song too, FP is referring to Glenn:heart:s solo song where he wakes up one morning and moves himself and his wife from the city westward to a country farm. The video ends with him pushing his wife on a swing over the "river of dreams"...*sigh*... Although I don't get the impression they are moving to Colorado, it is still a fitting analogy for you in times of stress, I'm sure!

(When I first read your thread title, I have to admit that the top 2 thoughts that popped into my head were: 1. menopause--which I thought was very strange, :hilarious: and would leave Borderers like MikeA and Rick out in the cold, so to speak; and 2. something more about Barack Obama--which only served to remind me that I still have to finish up the last bit of my report on my Inauguration trip--if only for my own posterity's sake, at this point! :computer: )

Oh, hahahaha! aahhhhhh..thanks for the laugh!

I don't know about Glenn's song...I'm gonna try and find it...thank you...I was reading the words to the Billy Joel one and I couldn't see the connection :headscratch:...lol...which is why I asked...this makes more sense...

Somehow, I did not see this yesterday - thank you for taking time to reply and encouraging me, all of you (you don't even know me!) How kind you all are! :inlove:

You are totally correct Troub! This last mile has been the longest AND the hardest - but this too shall pass...i'm much more optimistic today!

PREACH ON SISTER ANNE!!! We've all had those kind of people to deal with in our lives!! Hang in there girl--you're in the home stretch and the beautiful Rockies await your arrival. I'm still jealous tho! :hilarious:

Anne,

Wasn't there another song done about the Rockies by some obscure Eagle?

Weird song. Something about "changing batters".

The Best of the BEST for you!!!!!!!

Moving west to Colorado sounds like a dream come true! I have always wanted to live there. I did live in Idaho for a year, and that was wonderful and beautiful.
I hope you have a wonderful life in Colorado-if I ever do make it out there, I would love to get together!

Ahhh...Mike, one of my favs from our Mr. Walsh! (guess I should stop crying cause the stories sad, huh! Cause we know you just don't need it...)

I bought my husband a talkbox for our anniversary which is next week...I thought I had him fooled, but we were watching F1 and when that part came up, he said, "oh, you bought me a talk box didn't you"...he has this uncanny (sp?) way of figuring this stuff out...he's excited though...

Thank you TBF and Brooke - you are both right...my plan is to keep this in perspective...heaven knows the reward that is coming in the sheer views alone will be well worth it!

Thank you stars! you'd be more than welcome!

I don't know about Glenn's song...I'm gonna try and find it...

Check it out! It's one of my favorites of Glenn's solo work.

You can also find the commercial video here:

P.S. I have to admit, I first thought the thread was about menopause when I saw the title too! My mom used to always call it "the change." I admit there have been many times where I wished I didn't have to deal with a monthly visit from mother nature anymore, so I could've understood it.

The only word I've ever been able to use to describe the views is breathtaking.

Speaking of "The Change"...and related issues:

I do work for Germany in dealing with their Loan and Lease processing in the automotive industry (the UK too).

The last project I was assigned to work on, has to do with Pending Schedule Maintenance. Primarily making changes of scheduled payment due dates set up now, but not to take place until some date in the future.

Discussing this topic has brought about some curious and hopefully unintentional transpositional type Abbreviations (PSMs).

Anne - I can sympathize with you about the working for control freaks thing as well. It's too bad when a person is unable to relinquish control of things, but it's even much worse when they are in a position of power over other people. In any event, with regard to your move, best of luck with it.

Now, as far as River of Dreams, Glenn actually did say that the song was inspired when he and Cindy were building their home in Colorado.

River Of Dreams (Glenn) is entirely about their move to Colorado, which is why I mentioned it. It is a much better song than Billy Joel's effort, which I have ironically seen live several times, while I will never see Glenn sing River Of Dreams.

The Freys no longer live in Colorado full time but they still have their house at Snowmass.

OK that is a great song! I love it...never heard it before...and it SO describes my mood. Too bad I can't have a theme song for this thread...that would totally be it.

Yeah, the Billy Joel one had me stumped...lol...this one makes much more sense...I really like it!
