They have broken the dress code!
You can have a look at this in the Photogallery of the side!

OMG, they are in JEANS and Don even has on one of his UPS shirts.

Good deal! They look AMAZING!!!!

At first I thought "Maybe they've finally seen the light" but then I remembered that the Rio Tinto Stadium is outdoors, and so they may have just been making an exception like with the Hard Rock Park and Stagecoach.

Here's hoping that's not the case, though, and that Europe sees more casual Eagles!

I think they looked great and when I saw the jackets I figured they dress for comfort because it was outside.

They are layered up pretty well. It looks like it must have been cold.

Hopefully they do the casual look more often during the rest of the LROOE-tour, they look so nice (understatement!) when they are dressed comfortably.

Even if they would go back to the half dressy and half casual. They do look so handsome in the suits but the JEANS look great.

JEANS!!!!

What a sight to see!! :smitten: They all just seam so much more comfortable when they are dressed down. Although I don't mind the suits, my fingers are crossed that they continue the casual look.

YEA! I was so happy to see them wearing jeans again, and dressed so casually-I have to admit, at first I thought I was seeing older pictures, and had to look closely to make sure they were current!:)
At any rate, I am hoping and praying they keep the casual look for their European shows!

Gosh they all look really great in the jeans. Its lovely also to have at least one clear close up of each in their casual gear. Doesn't Glenn  look so cuddly in that jacket :inlove: ?
I am going to one outdoor and one indoor gig when they hit Ireland. It will be interesting to see if the dress code changes for each of them. I must say that they did look good in the suits in London, but at this stage, having seen so many pictures essentially the same it would be nice if they went casual for at least part of the show when they return to Europe.

Although I don't mind the suits(mainly 'cos Will looks sexy in his) I'd like to see them in jeans at one of the shows I'm going to - maybe I'll be lucky in Glasgow as that's an outdoor show.

I say :yay: for the jeans, too.

However, as Soda said, it appears that this show was very similar to the one we attended at Hard Rock Park last year in which they played an abbreviated set and dressed in jeans. So as much as I would like to believe the suits are history, I'm not counting on it. Love those jackets though!!!

I am clearly in the minority, but I prefer Don in his handsome dark suit instead of his (as AzEaglesFan stated) UPS --Ugly Plaid Shirt. Jeans are great on ALL the guys, especially for outdoor concerts--I just like solid shirts. I do think Glenn and Joe looked really great in those pictures.

Now, about that review:

From the Salt Lake Tribune (http://www.sltrib.com/news/ci_12338861?source=rss):

With Henley and Schmit showing little personality or charisma, Walsh and Frey were the showmen, with Frey bantering with the crowd with some of the funniest lines from a frontman in recent memory; he dedicated one song to his first wife, "Plaintiff," and called the band's tour "The Eagles Assisted Living Tour."

I am just thrilled that the reviewer thought Timothy & Don had little personality or charisma . Glenn IS a great frontman, but he would be even better if he would come up with some NEW lines, especially since the "plaintiff" line this reviewer quoted has been used for years.

DF, your hatred for the plaid is legendary! I am unsurprised you prefer a suit to it. lol

I noticed the guy who reviewed the show is the same guy who did the Q&A with Don... you know, the one where Don was a bit rude to him... could have colored his perceptions a tad.

Like DF, I am very fond of the suits and I don't believe they will be ditched. I have yet to see them myself and I want to see them. I did like Glenn's jacket though.

I sympathise with DF about the comments on Tim and Don's lack of personality and charisma. But while I was pleased with what was written about Glenn, once more it was about his role as MC, not his role as singer or musician (although the word 'frontman' was used).

Good eye Soda!! I guess I will overlook his lackluster review then.

As far as the jeans--well I think you all know which direction I go and I'm one of those who also LOVES the plaid Don! They looked pretty Yummy in those pics to my eye!

No wonder the reviewer was so critical. Oh well, Don showed plenty of "personality" during that Q&A, didn't he? ;)

I loved that!! A true blue fan who knew who wrote the songs and all. All you Glenn lovers will be glad that he agrees with us-that he should get a chance to showcase some of his solo stuff also.

It sounds like Tim was back to 1 song again and this blogger thinks he had trouble hitting the high notes-again! What the heck is going on there? I hope he's not having trouble again with these European dates coming up so fast.

He claims they were in good spirits-unlike that reviewer we read earlier.

Oh--and great to hear BBF is back!!!!:guitar:

I saw that about Tim only having 1 song! At first I was concerned, but then I remembered it was an abbreviated set like at the Hard Rock Park. As you said, at least BBF is back!

Maybe the cold weather affected Tim's voice. Hopefully all is well.

I'm going to the 2 shows in Ireland. Haven't been to Ireland before, but am I right in thinking that Belfast is indoor & Dublin is outdoor? or have I got that the wrong way around?
I was going to the Galway show that's now cancelled, so I'm going to Glasgow instead.........and then to Birmingham. Can't wait.

Amen to that. :headbang: Or the infamous, "we call this one the credit card song." Uggh!:? And, Don could lay off Nancy Grace while he's at it. She is so over-with and wasn't half as bad as Babah Walters or Kathy Lee, I didn't know my K-Mart line of clothing was being made in a Hondurus sweatshop, Gifford when it came to bubble-headed-banal-blappering-bitches. :singer: What happened to spontaneity guys? :headscratch:

I am sooo late in joining in...haven't had time to 'Border It' in awhile. The guys look sooo HSG, I nearly about fell over when I saw those photos! To my eye, "dressing down" makes them look about 10-15 years younger---especially Don and Glenn! Definite improvement over the suits! Although, you would think it might make their stage presence seem a little looser, too, wouldn't you?

Let's hope all you European Borderers do get the outdoor eye candy at your shows ! I can't wait to hear how it goes!

Thanks for posting that, AZ. Honestly, as I was reading this, I thought it sounded like an exaggeration. I read through a few of the comments, and apparently other people that were there did not have the same experience with ushers as this writer reported.

TimothyBFan
05-14-2009, 10:39 AM
Wow-Wonder if that's for real. If so, the ushers have taken it a little overboard!

I'm sorry, but this is exactly how I felt at the Indy show. However, if I hadn't been sitting so close to the stage I wouldn't know about the 'policy'. It's hard to imagine ushers being able to get the policy's rules across to the whole crowd!

carol7lynn
05-14-2009, 12:35 PM
Some venues have ushers that either take their job way too seriously or not seriously enough. I've experienced both situations and I'd rather have them over-react than under-react. Why? 'Cause usually when they over-react, and you don't challenge them, they'll generally leave you alone but when they under-react it can become a free for all.

I noticed in the few pixs I saw of the concert people were sitting and no one was at the stage. I just attributed it to the fact that they probably had a fence up. Now I know why.

Eagles ushers

Public Forum Letter

Updated: 05/13/2009 07:30:59 AM MDT

The Eagles initiated Rio Tinto as a concert venue, but to the classic rock band the audience probably appeared to be unenthusiastic. The band played to repressed and quiet fans, afraid to do more than bounce quietly in their seats.
The tyrannical ushers made sure that everyone remained reverent and still. During "Life in the Fast Lane" and "Hotel California" the ushers waved anyone who dared to stand up and sing along back into their seat. They had security escort out a petite blonde who refused to keep her arms folded in her lap. When she was returned to her seat, her section-mates of all ages stood to support her during the next fast song.
Besides the power-happy ushers, and the bugs, the concert was fantastic. Rio Tinto could serve as a wonderful place for summer concerts of all kinds. Apparently, it would be best suited to host symphonies or other recitals that don't inspire listeners to stand up and dance.
Hopefully, at the next concert we will be able to feel less like misbehaving preschoolers and more like fans.

I'm sorry, but this is exactly how I felt at the Indy show. However, if I hadn't been sitting so close to the stage I wouldn't know about the 'policy'. It's hard to imagine ushers being able to get the policy's rules across to the whole crowd!

This saddens me! I know we have been over and over this before and I have been pretty harsh at times but honestly, I just don't know how to stress enough just how wrong I feel this is! I agree that there has to be some order (I had to get help in Cincinnati when 2 drunks were getting mouthy and falling all over my 16 year old daughter) but WHOEVER is making up these rules, rather it be security, Eagles, Eagles management, venues, etc... needs to keep it in perspective that it is a rock concert. When, like it states above, they are telling people they can't sing along or stand during songs like LITFL or HC and fans are supposedly afraid to do anything other than "bounce quietly in their seats" after paying $200.00 a ticket, there is a VERY BIG problem!

We here, are the die hard fans that are willing to endure anything to see these shows over and over but what about the casual fan that goes and sees this type of thing happening and tho they loved the music and would love to see them again next time around, decide not to because of "the rules"?

Ok enough of my tirade AGAIN!!!!

What's really funny, the radio just started playing Already Gone as I typed that last paragraph! :hilarious: I kid you not---an omen?

I have expectations when I go to concerts. I expect the musician to put on a show. I expect to stand and expect 85 percent of the audience will stand the entire time! I expect to sign along, yell, hoot and holler. All in a respectful way or course. I'm never surprised to see half naked woman, drunks or joints being passed around. It's a freaking rock concert, not the symphony!

For the price of their tickets (3 hrs or not) I should be allowed to stand, dance and sing-a-long in my 24" x 24" space I "rented" for that time. :partytime:

Oddly, I wouldn't even feel bad saying that to any of the band members either. Really, I want to say, "lighten up while you still can"...

Prettymaid

I forgot to mention above that it was someone from the Eagles camp, not the venue, that gave us the rules at Indy. Here's the paragraph I wrote in that thread:

We immediately went down to find our seats and that was when we really got pumped. Hubby and I were in the second row right in front of Glenn's mic, and Soda was seven seats down in front of Joe's. Okay, I briefly thought about asking Soda if she wanted to switch seats, but thought I'd better stay with Hubby!:grin:. Besides, our seats really were great. For one thing, the distance between the stage and the first row was very minimal, so we were right there - I mean RIGHT THERE!!! We talked with our concert 'neighbors' for a while, and then it happened - a man with a laminated Eagles badge around his neck walked in front of the seats stopping occasionally to announce the 'Eagles standing/sitting policy'. He was very polite - more imploring than dictating, but gave us the rules nonetheless. We were to basically look around during slower songs, and if the majority of people were seated we were to stay seated. But if it was a faster song and the majority of people were on their feet, it was okay for us to stand. I guess the point was that since we were in the front, we could potenetially ruin the view of the people behind us, which could cause a ripple effect.

Yahoo for the JEANS !!!!! Just wish it meant they were going back to the 50/50 set up but I expect not :-(. Probably just did it to stay warm, but they did all look fantastic and relaxed. Wish I could have made it to that show oh well next time they're on tour here I'll check for out side shows :hilarious:.
