There were only two songs I sat down for. During Last Worthless Evening, a guy behind me literally took the seat and opened it up at the bend of my knees, just to get my attention to demand I and another girl sit down. We politely did. Guess what his next song was,,~~Pickin up prisoners and puttin 'em in a pen and All She Wants To Do Is Dance~~ the rest of the crowd was pretty much on there feet the rest of the evening.

...And make romance; she wants ta get down....I love the clavinet in that song even though it is so seventies disco.

Sounds as if it was a great show! Can 't wait to hear the details.

I won't bore you with too many details leading up to the show but some highlights.

My day started off the usual way, up by 6:00am except for the fact of knowing what was going to take place in just a few hrs time. I ended up driving myself to the airport. Taxi didn't show but luckily I live only two miles from the airport so no big deal.

Flight left on time. Just before landing I looked out and down and over the coast in the clouds I saw a rainbow. I took a picture, not sure how the rainbow turned out but will post ASAP. I was in MIA within an hour and a half of flight time. Not too shabby. I didn't know the mall moved into the airport. There were just as many shops and restaraunts as you would find in a mall/shopping center.

I had my rental and on the Florida Turnpike. When I approached Seminole Way I saw Don's face on a billboard. Fumbled around for my cell camera but of course it was no where to be found in the monster of a carryon I had brought. So didn't get a picture of that.

Last time I was at the Hard Rock Resort I didn't get to see the casino. So that was definately on my agenda for the 5hrs I had to fill. I slowly strolled the party spot for a while. Stopped to call my mommy and found two iguanas roaming a little tucked away spot. Which gave a view of some not so pretty water. One of the iguanas posed as if he had done this before. A couple had wandered back there so we chatted for a few. They too were there for the show.

Then it was time to see the casino. It was great cause just at the entrance on the left were things displayed from two of my other fave bands,,a pair of pants from Def Leppard's Joe Elliott and an outfit along with a signed bass by ex-Megadeth member Dave Ellefson. Next to those were G'N'R, Motley Crue and on the opposite side was a black outfit worn by Toni Iommi. Along the walls was a southern rock tribute, a Jimi Hendrix display of which had and interesting plaque. It said he had appeared on a tv show, the interviewer told him "you're the greatest guitarist in the world" and Jimi's response was "I'm the greatest guitarist sitting in this chair" basically saying it in a humble way. Very cool to read.

After strolling the casino a little longer I went back outside and sat, with my feet up sipping a coke, eventually a beer when the sidebar opened, and absolutely nothing to do. And it felt great. Another girl had come alone so we were able to chat a little before the gate opened.

I had got something to drink and the lady said she was waiting to hear "the last wasted evening". I thought that was funny.

Now I'll get to the good stuff. :soda:

It's showtime:
setlist(may not be absolute order)
Dirty Laundry
Sunset Grill
New York Minute
Witchy Woman
Last Worthless Evening
All She Wants To Do Is Dance
I Will Not Go Quietly
End Of The Innocence
One Of These Nights
Boys Of Summer
Life In The Fastlane
Heart Of The Matter
Hotel California
Desperado

I'll do my best to make this as in order as possible. This is ablsolutely the funnest show I've been too. No backdrop, no glaring lights, nothing but Don Henley and his crew of musical artists. It was great seeing Stuart and Crago again. He had a player that wore a tophat. I almost could picture Slash by the looks of the guy. Don't know who he was but I did see him coming out the side entrance that leads from the Casino to the concert hall just a very few minutes after the show, so not sure if he is from Miami or not.

Dressed in jeans with a black n white checkered shirt. I think it's what he wore last week minus the jacket. Don was absolutely charming the entire show. You could tell he was in a great mood the minute he came out. I and another girl behind me automatically stood up as well as a few others here and there. I didn't mind no one else was standing cause that gave a perfect opportunity for Don to gaze out and see us few who were only standing because we can't help ourselves when it comes to great music.

I guess not everyone understands that they want people to stand and not sit there like a bunch of potatoes.

The only thing he carried was a tamborine and a mic. After the first two songs he addressed the audience and said that he was glad to be back in his "second home". He encouraged people to "as a matter of fact lets turn the cell phones off and just enjoy".

He commented about having written the song Witchy Woman and "no the song is not about Stevie Nicks, I wasn't dating her then" and jokingly he said "I don't even like her" ,or something like that, with a great big grin followed by a little laughter. He was like this the whole time. Just really enthusiastic especially when some more of the crowd decided to get out of their seats.

Just before Last Worthless Evening Don informed the crowd of the subject behind the song. His impersonation of the woman he wrote about was too funny. He made a face, held his arm over his head as she did to him. It was hilarious. And then he said before approaching the woman Jack Nicholson had told him she would be like that because she was costarring in a movie with him at the time. Not sure what movie that would be.
Right at the beginning is where the testy man comes in with his demands of us sitting down. Which is ironic because the next song was All She Wants To Do Is Dance and this is where even more people had started staying out of their seats.I didn't look around so this is my view from front and side to side.

When I Will Not Go Quietly started some of the crowd started sitting back down and then during End Of The Innocence but one thing is for sure there were alot of people singing by the end of this one and even more when OOTN began. He also commented that OOTN was written in Miami. Then starts BOS/Life In The Fast Lane and for the rest of the show I don't think a soul was sitting or not singing.

Even though they performed 14 songs it still went by too fast. The next thing I knew it was down to Hotel California and I knew there would be only one more song, Desperado. And unless I was singing too loud, everyone knew all the words to this song.

Cloud 9, 10, 11, 12,,,,yep keep going. I'll post the pics I have tomorrow.

I forgot about Everybody Wants To Rule The World(cover) so 15 songs altogether.

I'm glad it was a terrific show, FFL!

I was reading the article you posted in the Don/Press thread hoping my memory wasn't too far gone. Thankfully I now have something to prove to my kids, lol. It was a great evening and because of this board I was able to experience it. I've been seeing bands perform for years whether it be in town or out of town, spontaneous or well planned and to be able to say the Eagles and Don are among some of the last to mark off my things to do/people to see list is something I'm very thankful for. Took a while but twice in 4 months time, I couldn't ask for more. :)

Not sure why these are so small, but they are taken from a cell phone. My daughter is going to see what she can do to make them larger before posting more.

This is one of the pictures I took on the flight down. As small as this is I don't know if anyone else can see the rainbow. Just over the thin cloud layer above the window rim. This is ironic too because(this may sound silly) when I close my eyes and hear them sing together, I picture a rainbow. Or like a sprout of colorful energy. Rainbows are very special to me.

And the precious iguana.. isn't he/she pretty.

FFL, Reading your review made me want to go back to this past weekend of Don concerts. I'm glad he was in such a great mood in Florida. Thanks for posting your review.

I do have a question, were they selling any Don merchandise at the show you attended? I was a little disappointed that they didn't sell any at his Oklahoma shows because I always like to have a tshirt or some kind of memorabilia from the concerts i attend.

FFL - I wish I could help with the sizing issue, but I'm not that technical either. Maybe one of our resident expert techies here will be able to offer some suggestions.

Someone had a very nice video recorder. Watch them fullscreen and it's almost like being there. I was standing just a little farther back from the heads you see when it's zoomed in. :) The guy in the hat was fun to watch him play especially during I Will Not Go Quietly. He didn't stand around like most of the others did.
