View Full Version : Eagles OK still cameras!!

Just read in a Rotterdam review on Eagleland that Glenn has said that still photography is now allowed at their concerts (although videos are forbidden). How awesome is that?! I can bring my camera to the London shows without shame! Woot! (It's a good thing, too - I am such a coward I would probably be too chicken to take photos otherwise, even after successfully sneaking in a camera).

Edit: I bet this will go for the Frey solo shows too! That's especially good news since it is unlikely there will be professional photos taken at those shows, unlike at Eagles shows where sometimes newspapers will take a few during the first three songs.

Correct me if I'm wrong Nanc...but don't the solo tickets read, "no audio or video recording"? In fact that does not forbid still cameras. I am very tempted to bring my camera. Can you imagine the shots I could get????

I'll double check when I get home, but if that's the case, no problem! You should bring your camera - after all, you were once a professional photographer - but I think L&M are right when they point out bringing a super-deluxe one might be a bit overboard.

The Rama tickets don't say anything at all about cameras or recording, at least mine don't.

I think caution is still the way to go. They might tolerate a few photos because they know most people are going to get crap for photos. They are not going to be happy about "professional" cameras....at leas that's always been our experience with them.

I just check our Rama tickets and saw this:

"In conformance with the Rules, alcohol, illegal drugs, cameras, recording devices, clothing not being worn and bags or containers of any kind, may be excluded from the premises."

Hmmm, MAY be excluded........

That's in very small print! I'm impressed you could read it!! I had to stare at it a long time to figure it out. <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/images/emoticons/smile.gif ALT=":)">

Illegal drug may(?) be excluded. LOL So I guess as long as you pass it around it's ok?

I think the small print on the back is kind of the "default" every ticket gets, and the front is venue-specific. I notice the Michigan tickets say the same on the back, but on the front only prohibit audio and video recording devices.

I'm just terribly excited about the idea of getting tons of (relatively) good photos out of these concerts. I'll try to remember, though, that there are no guarantees!

Don't worry Nanc...I'll leave the big lens at home. I don't really want a pic of his left nostril hairs anyway. :D

The Atlantic City tickets don't say anything about cameras or recording devices. There are, however, some very broad statements on the back of them saying that Management can do whatever they feel like.

Thanks, but I won't tell you how many times I had to enlarge it to actually read it! ;)

Thanks for the pointers, Bree. I'd forgotten momentarily about all the grief security gave you!

Regarding Rama...PLEASE, please, please be careful. Yes, tons of people were taking tons of pictures, both with cellphones and digital cameras...but I was almost kicked out for HOLDING my cellphone which was not taking pictures at all (and infact did not even have a camera on it). Cameras are technically not even allowed on the premises, being that it is a casino (cheating risk, etc.). I'm not saying don't try--heck, my new cell has a camera and it's coming in no matter what, lol--but BE CAREFUL. If you are in the front few rows, anywhere on the floor really, or on an aisle, unless you can conceal it (as in, hold it between peoples' heads so that the camera cannot be seen, only the flash when it goes off), do not use it. That was the only way people were getting away with it...well, them and the guy who was blatantly taking pics from front row while security was busy yelling at me and my non-photo-enabled cellphone. ;)

As Melissa said...I am sure they'll still be checking for cameras, unfortunately, because unless the band has given direct orders to security to the contrary, they won't be breaking their policy. However, being that I take pictures at almost every show I go to, I say--stick the camera down your shirt, works everytime, and have a blast! ;) And that is awesome of Glenn to say that!!

Edit: I did see security at Rama "speaking with" several people who stuck cameras up into plain sight down in my area...that's why I say "how people were getting away with it", lol. They *will* come get ya if they see the camera.

My friend and I: "Nice coat Glenn!"

Joe Walsh, at next pause between songs: "Hey, nice coat, Glenn."

Glenn: "Thanks, thanks...yah, I picked this up at the..Liberace garage sale, glad you like it..." ;)

It's all good! I mean, maybe it's just me...you know, I'm just Trouble with a capital T. ;) Regardless, I'm always happy to teach y'all everything you don't know about Partytown.

(I couldn't resist. ;) )

I'm just curious, but why do artists care if someone takes pictures of them at a concert?

I'd hate to finally see them in concert and not be able to get some pics of that once in a lifetime (in my case lol) experience :?

sodascouts

I guess they worry about people selling them and making money off of their likenesses without giving them any kind of royalties.

oh geez  well......it's kind of sad for those of us who would NEVER sell the photos

And they get distracted by the flashbulbs. Not that this is necessarily always a problem, especially when the camera is fairly pathetic. :!:

I'm sure I would turn as red as a tomatoe when I would get this stare.

I'm sure I would turn as red as a tomatoe when I would get this stare.

So would I

But the question is........would it be worth it if you had a picture like that of your own afterwards?

So.............if you don't use a flash is that easier for them to forgive and ignore?

Maleah, perhaps you don't know that I took that photo on August 5, 1988 at the show Glenn did in Sydney with the Little River Band. So yes, it was worth it, and I used a flash, but not a very strong one.

Maleah
01-08-2007, 07:06 PM
lol I figured you probably did.......and I figured it was probably worth it

When I asked if it would be worth it, I meant because EF said she would blush if she was on the receiving end of that stare.

Where you in the front row?? That's a great pic! I love how he's looking right at you! :D

Up close and personal. How great to have a photo of that moment!

I was in the front row. I think he heard me several times. Unlike 2004 where I was struck dumb when I got the Stare. I didn't dare take a camera then.
