I just read this on the Eagles Desperado Weblog: eagles.blogharbor.com/blo...03507.html (http://eagles.blogharbor.com/blog/_archives/2006/4/22/1903507.html)

I hope he doesn't take if offline completely. There are too few Eagles sites as it is!

Edited to add: for some reason it's not letting me link to the blog, so if you want to read it, you can go to the main site, www.eaglesmusic.com (http://www.eaglesmusic.com) , and then click on the blog link at the top. It says:

"For many years I published the Desperado Eagles fan site for a growing number of visitors.

At the moment the site has the highest Google ranking for the keyword Eagles'', even higher then the official Eagles site.

Last years there have been many Eagles' activities like touring in America, the Far East and Australia and off course the release of the Dvd. With less activities to be expected in my opinion in the near future, the Desperado site may get into some sleeping state, with less new items to offer and therefore decreasing number of visitors.

For me that expectation will no longer be a challenge to continue publishing the site.

So that’s why the Desperado site will be stopped on June 1st.

Eagles fans all over the world, thank you for your attention throughout the years.

- Webmaster"

That 's bizarre. 'Less activities to be expected'? Only a European tour and a new album.

I visited that site before I found the Fastlane and I thought it was amateurish, to be as polite as possible. I can't say I am sorry it's closing.

Well, regardless, it always makes me sad when a fan site goes by the wayside.

He says he's taking it offline for good. I think there's probably more to it than what he says about not enough happening to justify the site since as you said there's a lot going on, but that's his own business and none of ours. At any rate, I still find it a shame.

It was that site that I found first when I just wanted to find out who was who, and what had happened to them all. At that time (only last year) I didn't even know about HFO and all that followed. I was intrigued by the HC insert, and my old Eagles LP, and wanted to find out more. I thought the site was good, but that was before I discovered the Fastlane! I've been back a few times since, collected a few photos, looked at the lyrics guide, but you can't go much further, can you? I too will be sad to see it go, but long live the fastlane, glennfreyonline and the real fan sites!

This way to happiness...

Looks like the official Eagles site has snatched up the old Desperado domain. www.eaglesmusic.com (http://www.eaglesmusic.com) now redirects to www.eaglesband.com. (http://www.eaglesband.com.)

Yes, I imagine they had the domain on automated backorder, ready to snatch it up the moment it become available.
