SAND CASTLES

Here are some pictures I found showing an art form that really impressed me. I'd seen Ice Sculptures, but never anything like this.

I thought of Ticky when I saw these....they are from Oregon and are apparently something that is an annual affair!

Arent they incredible Mike? I've never been to the sand sculpture contests on the coast, but I have heard about them. They're usually at peek tourist season and the coast is crazy $$$$ then. We usually go in the fall.
There are two main contests, one at Cannon Beach which is only a few hours from here and the other in Lincoln City, an hour south. Those pictures look like they're coming from Lincoln City. Sometimes, just before the contest, they have demonstrations at Pioneer Square in Portland. Those I have seen and they are very impressive!

here are some more pics of an alternative art form I thought was pretty cool. These pictures arent in Portland, Im not sure where they are, but this same guy has been down town many times and I've seen him in action. He's pretty cool.

Ticky, is that 3-D sidewalk art? I can't tell where the art ends and reality begins! Amazing!
