I know we have lots of exciting new stuff to talk about, but I just got this magazine article off of Ebay, and I thought it was pretty interesting. So, for your perusal:

Another great read.

I wonder how much ink has been devoted to analyzing the Henley-Frey dynamic over the years? I never tire of reading their take on the situation as it has ebbed and flowed.

Thanks for posting!

Yeah, reading stuff like that makes you realize why Don got so down about the breakup of the group. He'd lost his 'significant other'!

Thanks for posting that Nancy! Looks like a good ebay investment. It's an interesting read, and I enjoyed seeing that group picture in colour.

Glenn is so focused. That is what I think when I watch his F1 interview and that is what he always has been, despite the drugs. I actually feel there is a lot I don't know about the Frey-Henley dynamic. I would love them to write a couple of songs in the vein of the new Elton John album, The Captain & the Kid, where they analyse their relationship. You can pick bits of it out in songs like Tequila Sunrise, After The Thrill Is Gone, Wasted Time (perhaps) and The Sad Cafe, and in a couple of rather negative solo songs, All Those Lies & Nobody's Business. It would be great to hear.

Interesting. I've never thought All Those Lies was about the Eagles, but I do agree that the rest of them show that dynamic to an extent.

Yep - that was an interesting read. I would also love to know more about Don and Glenn's relationship, but I doubt if we ever will except for the little snipets that we can piece together. I hold this teeny tiny bit of hope that one day one or both of them will reveal more, but it probably won't happen.

As far as All Those Lies, I have always thought it was about the Eagles. I love the song. I still think it is one of Glenn's best solo songs.

Dreamer, Don has said that he has plans to write his autobiography, so one day we will at least have his side of their relationship.

Who knows--maybe Glenn will pen his as well.

Well Dana - that would be really cool as long as he doesn't tell us what we already know. And since we know the two of them are so competitive, Glenn won't want Don to get anything over on him - so if Don writes his autobiography, then Glenn will have to write his as well. <grins>

Glenn and Don writing competing autobiographies - wouldn't that be a hoot?!

Come on, boys. Give us dirty laundry. ;)

Wouldn't that be interesting? I've enjoyed reading the available biographies, but they seem to be sourced from what is generally available on the internet, with no really true insights into the dynamics.

A lot of them seem to just regurgitate published interviews. The "To the Limit" guy actually talked to Don, but then he denied involvement and so you wonder just what to believe!

So many of the quotes in "To the Limit" are "according to a source". That always makes me suspect.

I don't know why Don hated that book so much. It totally dwelt on him at Glenn's expense - unless he felt as I do, that Glenn was unfairly ignored.

According to the author, Don got angry because the guy mentioned Don's little corruption-of-a-minor scandal. He was supposed to pretend it never happened, apparently.
