I visited Don's wikipedia page (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Don_Henley)to confirm a release date and noticed that the Personal Life section had been edited. I've never heard of this before:

Henley was first married in the early 70's to Cheryl Amaro, a Massachusetts native that he met while the band was still "paying their dues." Traveling with the band as much as possible, the relationship lasted for some time, but was unable to weather Don's infatuation with Stevie Nicks (see below). They divorced in the late 1970's.
In the late 1970s, early 1980s, while still married, Henley dated Fleetwood Mac (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fleetwood_Mac) musician Stevie Nicks (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stevie_Nicks), and had a long term relationship with actress/model and Bond girl (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bond_girl)Lois Chiles (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lois_Chiles) [7] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Don_Henley#cite_note-6).

I breach the subject because the recent edit claims to quote him yet has no citation, and I was always under the impression that he had been engaged twice prior to marrying for the first time in '95. Cannot find hide nor hair of this woman in any of the books I have, and no mention of her online. Am I unenlightened or...? Due to absence of a citation, the user-submitted nature of wikipedia and the tone of the addition it almost seems as though someone injected this portion purely to tarnish or irritate him in some manner.

Well this could explain who the mother of Don's oldest mystery daughter is.

I tell my students never to use Wikipedia as a source for any of their papers because it is very unreliable... people can put whatever they want on there and it may or may not be corrected. I remember one person edited Don's entry to say that he was born in "Vagina, Texas" (hopefully this person was not over the age of 14).

I think if this were true we would have heard about it by now. When the first time you hear a fact is from a Wikipedia edit... let's just say I'd hesitate before swallowing it.

As for breaking up over Stevie Nicks, Don was doing a lot more than Stevie back then...

I don't use Wiki as a source, it's just fun to read while I'm standng in line somewhere. I have contributed articles and corrected items in the equestrian entries, because laymen scripting horse-related articles... well, "pathetic" is really the only sufficient descriptor.

:hilarious: Actually my first thought was, they broke up over his infatuation with Stevie Nicks? Shouldn't that be prefaced by "...a number of people, among them...."

Quoi? He has another daughter? How do I manage to miss all this? (Sigh.) I guess that's what I get for keeping my recreational web surfing to a minimum. So there's an ex-wife and a kid on top of the teenage partygoer that he's managed to keep out of howevermany books? If this is indeed true, I am extremely impressed!

ABM - I agree with Soda about Wikipedia. I definitely wouldn't proclaim that Don has an ex-wife based on such an unreliable source. Although it's certainly not impossible, I have never read anything indicating that Don was previously married.

However, Don does have an older daughter named Brittany from a relationship in the 70's. There is not an awful lot known about her, but just about everything we know can be found in this thread ...

Well, if Don is not forthcoming about details, I'm sure there's a good reason for it.

I think you're right about that, Soda. If he doesn't want to talk about it, he has good reasons! I know it's hard for people in the spotlight to have a private life, but some things are best left unsaid, for whatever reason.

I've never heard of Brittany either. She would be in her 30's then? This one is a different one from the girl that was with Don at the MusiCares gala?

No, Brittany IS the person who was at MusiCares.

Well. Now that I've removed my head from the sand with a resounding pop. I was going to scout out a photo but the distinctive "Dirty Laundry" backdrop started coursing through my mind and, with twinges of guilt, I abandoned ship. He might not have reached his newspaper magnate, but I guess he impacted someone...

I thought that I had read, heard or seen an interview with Don where he said that he had been engaged a couple of times but had never married (until he married Sharon) so I thought thatI would take a quick look. I haven't looked too hard but I did review parts of the "California Nights" compilation. It is a collection of individual interviews with Don & Glenn & reports about the Eagles that I bought a couple of years ago. In one interview that Don did with Jerry Lazar, Jerry stated that Don was one of the last eligible bachelors & came right out & asked Don if he had been married. Don said that he hadn't & one of the reasons was that he wanted to make sure that he was ready. Don went on to say that he was still friends with all his former girlfriends & fiances. He said that he expected to marry some day & have children. The interview must have been in the spring of 1992 because he mentioned that Glenn had become a daddy & had a one year old- "a girl I think". That would have been Taylor.

There is still another interview where he gave more information about his engagements, which I am sure I will come across sometime. I am almost positive though, that he didn't mention their names.
