It's been one year today since i got to see the guys in concert for the first time in Tulsa, OK. They say you never forget your firsts and this was one first that will stay with me forever. I went with ILAA and got lucky with a front row seat. I loved every moment of that concert and I even lost my voice for nearly a week after. There is so much excitement and emotion when you hear those first familiar chords of How Long and then the lights come on and there they are right in front of you. I remember being so awe struck and was so surprised when I had tears in my eyes when those lights came on. I'll also never forget throwing roses on stage and seeing Glenn pick them up and dance to center stage. Priceless. It was such a wonderful night. After looking back on that day, i can't wait till the guys start touring again and even though my first Eagles concert experience is one year old today the excitement of being at an Eagles concert never gets old.

My pics from the first Tulsa concert didn't turn out too good but I thought i'd post the few that were decent.

And how can i forget seeing these lifesize cutouts for the first time. I still wish I could've taken those home with me.

Awww Peek, now you're going to help us all remember the concerts we went to last fall! Mine was Sept. 24th in Chicago, and although it was a wonderful concert and I got to meet Soda, Willie and Maleah, I actually enjoyed the view better at my second concert this past March, where I had 2nd row seats. It is absolutely a surreal feeling when those lights come up and there they are, right in front of you!

No Willie, you should be feeling the warm fuzzies,:inlove: not melancholy!

I actually feel both! I get so happy and excited when I remember those concerts and how I felt every time those lights first went up, especially the Cincinnati concert, when I could look right into Timmy's eyes. :smitten: But then I remember I will probably never get the chance to do it again and it saddens me. :-(

As I've said before, I never thought I'd get to see them once - let alone twice. I'm not sad. Next year when we have Borderes going to concerts and posting reviews I might be wistful...but at the Eagles' prices I can afford to be wistful! ;)

:shh: Nobody was supposed to know about that. I guess the cat's outta the bag ;). I've got them all perfectly set up in my bedroom :lie:. It was a b*tch sneaking them past those security guards. If they had caught me, i would've been thrown in jail for theft the Eagles. It's just a shame it wasn't the real thing though. Now that would totally be worth going to jail. :hilarious:

LOL Peek!

My first Eagles show was in 2005. Like many of you, I never thought I'd see them live. I was in the fourth row with Perfect Little Sister. I'll never forget that rush when they came out, that thrill.... also, at the time, I never thought I'd see them again. That turned out not to be true, that's for sure!

Brooke

09-09-2009, 06:25 PM
Well, here goes, folks! Don't judge! Basically all of my "fun money" was dedicated to these shows.

Sacramento 2005
Glenn was making noise about this being the last time the Eagles ever toured - that it was California and that would be it. I was a new fan who had missed out on Farewell 1 because I got in on the action late. PLS lives in Sacramento. We decided we would go to a show together, and so I went. It was a life-changing event, seriously. Dreamer posted that she was going. I contacted her before I went to see if she'd be down with sharing a hotel room. This was TWO DAYS prior! I didn't even know her then except from her posts - I'd never even PMed her before - but her posts were always funny and intelligent. I could tell she would be fun to hang out with, and sure enough... she took me in and we've been close ever since! Karen Z was with her, and she was a riot to hang out with. What a good time we had! I also met Zermie there, although we didn't get to talk much. At the show, I was fourth row. What a blast!

That was it for a while. Then the Eagles toured Europe and the UK. I didn't even consider going until I realized that I was going to go to the UK anyway for some dissertation research... why not plan the trip to coincide with the Eagles shows there?

London's Twickenham Stadium 2006
Fourth row. So much fun! On this trip I met for the first time in "real life" timfan, WitchyMummy, Toonlass, and glenneaglesfan.

London's Wembley Stadium 2006
The first and only time I've had front row at an Eagles concert. SO FREAKING AWESOME!

Glasgow 2006
I never intended to go to this, but by coincidence, they were playing the exact same day I was in town! Too good to pass up, but I told myself I wouldn't spend more than $50 in order to keep within my budget. Luckily, I got myself a cheap seat in the boonies for less than face value from a "tout" desperate to sell his crappy seat at the last minute. Ouila!

Cardiff 2006
Never intended to go to this either, but GEF was going right after my visit with her was through. I decided to extend my visit and accompany her! Once again, I couldn't afford to splurge, so I waited around outside and got a ticket from another "tout" at the last minute. It wasn't awful - back of the floor - and I don't regret going. The show was great!

Again, another break - then the Eagles revved up the machine again!

The CMAs 2007
Nashville was within driving distance - at least my definition of driving distance - and I'd get to hang out with DonFan as well as Dreamer. Off I went!

Hard Rock Park 2008
Another bargain - I drove down and stayed for free with DonFan. I got to meet her daughter "Bama Girl" lol as well as Dreamer's uncle and niece Screamin' Eagle.

Chicago 2008 (1st show)
What needs to be said about this that hasn't been said already? Great show and I thrilled to meet TimothyBFan and her husband, Prettymaid and her husband, and Maleah. Got ninth row for face value about an hour before the show.

Chicago 2008 (2nd show)
Wasn't planning on going but decided to hang around outside the venue and see if I could get a cheap ticket from someone wanting to unload one. Again, I budgeted myself - I simply could not afford a full price ticket. If I couldn't get a deal, I'd go home. Sure enough, I was able to land one for ONE-THIRD of face value at the last minute. Suh-weet!

Cincinnati 2009
Driving distance... hanging out with TimothyBFan and her daughter... sounded good to me! So I went. And I nailed fifth row at face price at the last minute - only an hour before the show! Woot!

Indianapolis 2009
Of COURSE I'd go see the local show! No question! Prettymaid and her husband were my partners in crime for this one as we managed to get tickets within seats of each other on the second row. Good times!

So, I've been to 10 shows, plus the CMAs! Yeah, sometimes I've had to go on the cheap to do so. I couldn't drop full price that many times. Sometimes I'd have bad seats or gotten bargain tickets - but even if the seat was in the boonies, it was always worth it!

I think that Verna and I went to 15 Eagles concerts and two Joe Walsh shows and one Simon and Garfunkle cert all between 2004 and 2006. We went to 6 concerts on one week on one trip. I think the last one we went to was in Las Vegas. If we hadn't discovered from that concert trip just how cheap a trip to Vegas (sans concert) could be, we might still be using vacation time and money to chase Eagles. Probably not. They've just gotten too obsessed with money and priced themselves out of our budget. I still like their music though. However, I'll enjoy it via CD and DVD.

Vegas is just more alluring than concert trips to us because not only do we get free rooms at several casinos, we get either free or 2-for-1 meals. Really about the only expense is the car rental and the air fare to get out here. I usually win enough at blackjack to cover half those expenses so a trip out here generally costs us about $400 for a week. Sometimes less depending on how kind the machines are to Verna and how lucky I get at Blackjack. Peekaboo knows how volital that can be <LOL> even when I even the odds a bit by counting. NOTE: I do not play at Peek's casino!

I can't match the numbers of most people. I have only seen the band six times, and five of those were on the F1 Tour.

My F1 reviews are here if anyone is interested.

Wow, Soda and Mike! You all should be considered 'Mega Fans' with those numbers! That's awesome!

And you should get some kind of special recognition from the band. Hey Eagles......these guys deserve something! Like free tickets and a special meet & greet!

Yeah right!

But really!

You know what? WE all go to these concerts and we really get off on them. We enjoy them for an evening each time we can scrape together the money when the planets all align correctly in the cosmos.

But corney as it sounds, the real reward I've found is that while the concert goes on for 2.5 to 3 hours, the fans we meet go on for the rest of our lives and those friendships are often renewed daily thanks to the technology we've discovered here through the Internet.

How many people have I met, befriended, agreed with, argued with and yes, even "feuded with", as a result of preparing for those concerts and attending them!

With that said, if Joe wanted to come hang out on the wires or otherwise at our place by the pool eating hamburgers and slurping homemade ice cream, well, I wouldn't refuse! Nor would I refuse doing the same with any of my Internet Walsh and Eagles friends....except we might end up in the basement with the amps cranked <LOL> and singing Hotel California or some other appropriate Eagles tune!

Someone was smiling on me nicely this year cause not only did I get to finally see Eagles for the first time in January but also a pleasant surprise Henley show in Miami in May. And as soon as they're available another possible Henley date. Can't get much better than that...I don't think. Unless the other guys decide to go solo.

Well, I completely forgot what 9/20/08 was. I saw the Eagles in Columbia, MO from the front row! What a thrill it was! The whole experience was just nearly too much. Yes, we had seen them in 2002 and 2003, but not from the front row, just off center in front of Joe! It was awesome and something I'll never forget. Nor will my husband. My pics didn't turn out very good, but I do have a couple. The camera nazis were in full force and there's no one to hide behind in the front row!

And Timothy, if you still have my sign, just autograph it and send it back to me! I'll love ya for it!

I had a front row seat on 14 September 2008 in Dallas, between Glenn & Joe. That was amazing. It was easy to 'lock eyes' with them.

That was the night I got a wave from Will at the end of the set, then he gave me a smile & nod of the head when I waved my banner as they started 'Take it Easy'. :yay::smitten::yay: I'll never forget it.

At the Eagles concerts I've been to I've had 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 6th row seats, but I'm still waiting for that elusive 1st row seat. I had excellent views from all of those seats except for the 4th row seats in Charlottesville, and it just so happens that was the one and only time I ever purchased a five star ILAA ticket. They were actually very good seats just left of center between Tim and Glenn. Unfortunately, the seats directly in front of us happened to be occupied by two of the biggest guys at the show that night. Molly and Karen Z were with me, and all three of us are short (especially me). I don't think any of us had much of a view. I could see Tim fairly well, but I had to struggle the entire night to get decent views of Glenn. This did not make me happy!. But, there was the time in Sacramento. This was the show where I first met Karen Z, Soda, and PLS. Karen Z and I had great Row 4 aisle seats right in front of Tim. However, there was a smaill thru fare up to the front of the stage directly in front of us. About midway through the second half Z looked at me and said "c'mon". For a moment, I didn't know what she was talking about, but as she headed toward the stage, I picked up my bag and said "cool". We headed right up to the front of the stage, and security just waved us on. We watched the rest of the show from the very best "seats" in the house standing right at the stage directly between Tim and Glenn.

Now as far as the Glenn and Joe solo shows that I've been to, at most of them, we were allowed to go up to the stage. Wow, talk about a view!

OMG - I looked at Today In Eagles History a few minutes ago, and I realized that today was the date that I attended my 3rd Eagles concert in Oakland, CA. Now, if you wonder why my 3rd concert is so special, it's because this is the first concert where I had a really good seat (3rd row center), and when I was ... err ... 'chosen' by Glenn. Yep - it was exactly four years ago today when a certain wavy-haired guitar player captured my heart for good. I remember that was also the night that I took excruciatingly detailed notes, and ended up writing a very long review. After I realized that the anniversary is today, I went back and re-read the thread. I was literally lol as I read the discussion in this thread. I posted it shortly before the kickoff of the LROOE tour in Europe so there was already some excitement in the air around here at the time. Here is the thread for anyone else who wants to reminisce ...

Well I started reminiscing when I saw on the Eagles history calendar that today is the 4th anniversary of the Eagles show in Sacramento that Soda and I talked about earlier in this thread. Now, for the band, I guess this was just another show, but for me personally, this would turn out to be truly an 'event'. As we said earlier, at the time that we went to this show, I really did believe that it would be my very last Eagles concert. There had been a feeling for quite some time that the California tour would be it for the band. It didn't seem that there would ever be another Eagles album, and that the end for the band was in sight. How wrong we were! Not only was it not the end, but rather I was personally just getting started. Again, this is the concert where I first met Z, Soda, and PLS. We were truly like school girls in our excitement of going to the show and meeting one another. This was only my 4th Eagles' concert, and was the first time I had ever hooked up with other hardcore fans for a show. What fun the weekend turned out to be. Although it had been in the back of my mind for several weeks, this was the first time I seriously brought up the possibility of going to Pebble Beach. Little did we know what future endeavors that weekend would lead to. So the last 4 years have been quite a ride for me, and I'm hoping the end is nowhere in sight.

I love reading these. 2009 was an amazing year for me. I did three things for the very first time;

- saw the Eagles in concert

- saw Don Henley (twice) in solo shows

AND

- set foot in America.

Three BIG ONES for me. Seriously. I've wanted to visit the States ever since I can remember. And, until Christmas 2008, I wasn't even sure I would get the chance to see Don or the guys 'in the flesh'. It was all such an adventure.

Not only that, but I met some wonderful friends, whom I hope to be in touch with for a very, very long time! All thanks to this place.

I didn't see Eagles in '09 either individually or collectively.

Yet it was a great year that I'll reminise over for the rest of my life.

It started out in February when I acted on the impulse to get a VOX modeling amp.

I followed that up in September by fulfulling a desire I've had all my life for all practical purposes. I finally bought a Gibson "Les Paul"...Unfortunately, I ended up getting it the same year that Mr. Les Paul passed on to greater Music.

I also completed my first year as a member here on The Border.

It has indeed been a Great Year.

I got to see the Eagles in Hampton in January, Don Henley solo in Norfolk in November and - something I also never thought I'd see - Timothy B. One year ago today was the last time I saw the Eagles in concert. That concert in Columbia, Missouri was well worth the drive. It was a really fun and special evening. I had never been to Missouri and it was a nice little road trip with my friends Christi and Eric (although Eric went with us/helped drive, he did not go to the concert). We stayed at a really fun hotel and casino. We had an excellent time doing a bit of drinking and some gambling (FYI for anybody drinking and gambling in Missouri: you are only allowed ONE alcoholic drink every 30 minutes while gambling  ). I also got to meet our very own Brooke. It was only for a few minutes during intermission but Brooke is just as kind and wonderful as she is here on the Border.

Christi and I had second row seats on the very end of Tim's side. At first I didn't think it was all that great to be on the end but it actually worked out quite nicely for us. It allowed us to go on a few beer runs and bathroom breaks without having to get in other people's way and it really worked to our advantage at the end of the concert when I was able to get right up front (with security right in my face) to give the guys some roses.

Now just to refresh my memory even further with some pics of that awesome night...

Peek, thanks for taking me down memory lane, too! What a great show that was and it was great to meet you and Christi! Very sweet ladies you two are!

Is that your arm handing the roses up? I had roses too, but was in 6th row and had to pass them forward through the crowd and never saw them make it on stage. :-( For some reason, at this show the first 3 rows were a continuous row with no aisles and even though I was near the middle aisle in 6th, I couldn't go closer up than behind the 3rd row.

Anyway, what a night! Last time I saw them, too! I'm feeling PEW coming on. :sigh:

Yeah, it was at this show. I felt bad that he didn't get a rose. What happened was Joe saw me with the roses but he gestured and mouthed that he couldn't go to the end of the stage to get them and that security guard was not letting me pass him so I just threw them up on stage and one didn't make it.

I was actually laying in bed this morning, waking up, and thinking about these pics (having a little of my own PEW).

It reminded me and got me thinking about all the pics of the guys I've seen lined up singing and playing etc. The moment for my concerts that still "hits" me every time I think of it is that d*mn opening note of How Long when those lights go up and you see them for the first time all lined up. Will I ever be able to hear the opening note of that song and not get a bit melancholy over that moment? I still shed a tear every once in awhile over it. Looking forward to seeing a dvd of one of these shows someday so that I can relive it over and over!

This makes me wonder.....who said he couldn't go to the end of the stage? Is that a "security rule" for all the guys? But then, I remember someone posting about Don coming to the edge of the stage and handing out his drumsticks to a kid, don't I?

Anyways, it doesn't really matter and I'm glad some of them got the roses, but it makes me wonder.

I would definitely agree with your assessment here, PM!

And Brooke, when we were at the Hampton show, the security folks wouldn't let us anywhere near the stage to place our roses. It was very disappointing, especially for my niece (Eaglette), who had taken the time to write a very cute note to each Eagle that we had attached to each rose. It was very frustrating because they wouldn't even let us throw them, nor would they take them and place them on the stage for us. This was right around the same time that Jess and DonFan had both gotten their roses on the stage. As a matter of fact, the Security staff at that Hampton show was a big pain in the a$$ that entire night!

I just noticed in Today in Eagles' History that today is a little bit of personal history for me as well. It was 7 years ago today that I attended my very first Eagles concert right here in my hometown. Yep, that's right - after over 30 years of being a diehard fan, I FINALLY attended my first show. I was so excited that I could hardly stand it, and I've never looked back since. It's particularly sweet to reminisce about this given the recent reminders that the band can't go on forever.

Reminiscing on....

'It don't matter to the sun' - Don Henley shows, November 2009

The auditorium was silent,
The stage lights were down,
Then out of the darkness,
Came a beautiful sound.

A single stage light shone,
On fingers moving with skill,
And there at the grand piano,
Was my talented darling WILL.

Well, I noticed in the Eagles History calendar that it was two years ago today that Soda, DonFan, and I (and some of our families) saw the Eagles concert at the Hard Rock Park in Myrtle Beach, S.C. That was really a fun trip and it's a shame that the park closed down so quickly. Anyway, I thought I'd post a few pictures to help reminisce. I love this picture - it was hanging in the Welcome Center at the park.

I love 'em myself, and the Led Zeppelin coaster was one of the best I've ever been on. Sad to say the Eagles roller coaster was quite wimpy. It reminded me of one of the first real roller coasters I rode at Astroworld when I was nine called "Runaway Mine Train." Not that it was a kiddie ride - it was the real deal - just very tame.

An interesting bit of info I just came across: The Hard Rock Park was reopened just a few days ago (May 23)! [ETA Correction: May 23, 2009. Thanks TQ!] It's been bought by "Freestyle Park Enterprises" and as such is now called the Freestyle Music Park. Unfortunately, since the Eagles' deal was with Hard Rock Inc. and not with this new ownership, the Eagles ride has been renamed "Iron Horse" and has been stripped of its Eagle-ness. :(

Sorry, but I beg to differ, Missy. I repeat, it took me many hours to recover, and there was no way in hell I would have gotten on that Led Zeppelin one. I don't think Willie would have either - even if Jimmy Page himself said he'd ride it with her.

It's been nearly 3 months since San Jose and, I guess because of the Meet n Greet, PEW has been pretty much delayed for me, but recently it's really starting to set in. Our experience in San Jose was like something out of one of my stories except, well, that would have ended differently *G*, but still, it's been a wild ride! Every time I look at my desk top, cell phone, framed picture on the wall or facebook avatar, I get that same goofy grin and that same feeling so I guess Im pretty lucky that way. I cant help but feel like someday I'll see them all again and that meeting Joe wasnt the last time. It's been a "challenging" summer so far with the questionable weather and some personal issues, but the memories I have of San Jose, meeting everyone there, the SHOCK of seeing Joe walk by!!!! the incredible show with the awesome seats, then Portland, MEETING Joe!!!! sitting with Tim's family, the pictures, the video, the friends!! The memories of all that keep my spirits up and I know that there WILL be more in the future!

Wow, am I feeling it today! I'm reminiscing (or torturing myself) by watching the few videos that are on YouTube from our front row concert in San Jose back in May. These are only short, low quality clips but I can remember bits of this so, so well. Like where Glenn sings the "and it breaks her heart/hands as cold as ice" part - I vividly remember singing along to it and him looking RIGHT back at me. :sigh:  We were just to Glenn's left, as you look out from the stage.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g3allQ8ES5A

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UNbKpx9fY2A&feature=related

I just found this last one today. It was taken on a guy's cell phone, and you'll have to turn your laptop to see Glenn upright, lol, but it's the whole of Lyin' Eyes, along with the intro. It's worth it more for the vocals. I think he sounds amazing and just as strong as he ever was. Unfortunately the guy navigates away from the screen and JUST misses out on the part where Glenn mouthed "much" to us! But it's still good to hear the song.

It seems I've started an epidemic! I apologise. But it ALWAYS helps to share with other Borderers. :grouphug:

Actually, after talking to Jess, I'm feeling much more upbeat. We have some incredible memories to revel in. I still can't quite believe Glenn personally gave us those picks! I'd never have imagined that would happen. It's the sort of thing you fantasize about before you go to the concert!

Aww, Lou. you were killing me with those texts and posts on FB earlier today. It was such a wonderful reminder but you got me wishing i had a time machine so I could go back to that concert. Everything we went through to get there was totally worth it.

How about a few more reminders?

This still cracks me up!! I'm feeling a bit of PEW myself for a couple reasons. First, knowing I WON'T be there tomorrow night in Indy only 3 hours away and second, it's almost exactly a year ago (next Monday) that Soda, PM & I made our sojourn to Chicago to see Timothy's solo show. Feeling pretty Melancholy right now.

I too was recently recalling Timothy's solo show. I loved meeting so many people from this board and seeing TBS up close. It was awesome.

Days later, I remember driving out of my way to pick up his CD at the only record store in the area to carry it. My phone broke on the way home...I didn't even care because I was dying over White Boy from Sacramento... and recalling his show...

Ah, good times...

5 years ago today, I saw my first Eagles concert in Sacramento, California. It was truly a life-changing event.

I hadn't initially planned to go. I saw some good tickets for a reasonable price on Ebay, and impulsively I decided to buy them thinking it would be the only time I could see the Eagles, as they had talked of hanging it up. I treasured every second. It was a fabulous show and one that will always hold a special place in my heart - you never forget your first time. ;)

Seeing the Eagles was a thrill, of course, but I also met PLS, Dreamer, and Karen Z at that concert. I had communicated with PLS for months but I didn't really know Dreamer and Z at the time. When I couldn't stay with PLS due to logistical difficulties, I asked Dreamer to let me bunk with her and she agreed. I'll always appreciate how kind, generous, and friendly Dreamer and Z were to me.

And that's not all! That night would also eventually lead to me meeting Glenn. I never would have gone to Pebble Beach if not for Dreamer bringing up the idea and PLS agreeing to go with me. Heck, I didn't even know what the deal was with Pebble Beach at the time. Me: "Go to Pebble Beach? Well, I think Glenn is all that and a bag of chips, but I don't know if I'd want to come out here just to watch him golf. I'm not really that into golf..." Dreamer: "No, you can actually meet him and talk to him!" That revelation - that I could actually have a chance to meet this guy I so admired - led to my first trip to Pebble Beach all sorts of unforgettable adventures. I even developed a degree of appreciation for golf! lol

Here's to that wild night in Sacramento, good times, and good friends!

Hmmm - I think I vaguely remember that show. Well, it wasn't my first Eagles show, but it was the first time I had ever met up with other fans at a show - so it is a 'first' for me in that way. We had a great weekend and I've been meeting up with other fans at shows ever since whenever I can.

And after all the planning and research about Pebble Beach that I had done, as it turned out I wasn't even able to go that first year because of a scheduling conflict with my job. I was so upset, but Soda and PLS were great - they called me once or twice every day with 'updates'. I think they must've felt sorry for me. In retrospect, I should have quit the stupid job and just gone because I ended up quitting the very next month. I don't think hardly anything could have held be back from going the next few years though.

I saw the Eagles two years ago today :) I remember being ecstatic when I found out the Eagles were coming to New Orleans. The two months between buying the tickets and going to the show were the longest two months of my life :hilarious: I was so excited the day of the concert. I was no where near the stage but I still had a fantastic time. I hope they come this way again!

I remember being in New Orleans two years ago today, and trying to get a ticket to see the Eagles! I was only offered one way back on the floor, and it was so expensive that I passed on it. I was so disappointed to be in the city and unable to see them.:weep:: However, July 4, 2009 I was able to see them in Glasgow, Scotland so that made up for it! :applause:

Been doing a lot of reminiscing the past few days because it was two years ago on Jan. 29th that I saw the guys in Tampa, FL. I can't believe that was already two years ago. I remember planning for months for that trip. It was such a crazy time because my uncle had passed away on Jan. 21st and for a while there it didn't look the trip was gonna be happening but things seemed to fall into place and i made it to Florida but I didn't have a ticket to the concert until literally 5 hours before showtime. I had to resort to Soda tactics and it worked. I got really lucky and got a 5th row seat for face value from the box office. I don't know how you do it Soda but i remember that being a real nail biter not knowing if you can just walk up to the box office and get a good seat on the day of the concert. Thank goodness it worked because that was a fantastic concert. The guys were looking and sounding great. I've listened to my bootleg of that concert a few times over the past few days. Puts me in a great mood since we've got all of this snowy and freezing cold weather going on right now.

Here's some of the pics I took from that concert.

I noticed on the Today in Eagles History calendar earlier today that on March 15, 2005, I attended only my 2nd Eagles concert in Hampton, VA. Although I had been a fan of the band since the beginning, I had to wait over 30 years before I saw my first live show. I've tried to make up for that in recent years, but, hopefully, I still have a ways to go before I'm done.

Well - I'm reviving this thread again because today is another very special day for me. It was this day in 2003 that I attended my very first Eagles concert ever. After waiting over 30 years to see my very favorite band of all time, I can't even describe how excited I was that night, I was in heaven - sucky seats and all!

It was actually the Hampton 2005 concert that I mentioned in my previous post that was literally a life changing experience for me though. After seeing that a couple years later, I was so psyched, I came home and started checking out everything I could about the band on the Internet. That eventually lead me to another site where I made quite a few friends including Soda. She eventually started our predecessor board, Flip City, and the rest is history as they say. :yay:

It turned out that the guys were staying at the same hotel as us. I didn't get to see them but we spotted Will, Stuart, Al and even got a pic with Smokey.

It was also my first time to see the guys do Best of My Love. It's not the whole song but I did get a short video clip of it.

You were in the perfect place. You got all three! Loved watching Don drumming to HC close up! Loved the drum faces. I don't know drum terminology, but feel free to help me anyone (Austin?). I love the parts where he drums off to his right-it always looks like he's just a little behind to me; plus I love how it sounds different. Today, 2 years ago I saw my first Eagles concert!:) You know maybe I was a little bit excited abtut it!
I remember I woke up much earlier than usual and had a feeling of happiness in the belly with the knowledge that it was finally so far!
I could not concentrate on work, I only count the hours until the concert.
On the 2 hour and a half long drive, I've looked determined every 10 min if I have the tickets. I also had fears of coming too late completely unfounded we were 2 hours too early in Hamburg!

And then finally started the concert! It was incredible, an unforgettable evening! I still get goosebumps when I think about it!Totally crazy!:spin:

After the concert, I was happy but also sad, which is perhaps the wrong word, I felt somehow empty! I wanted more, and yes I got the chance, a little more than 2 weeks ago , I was allowed to see my 2 Eagles concert!
I want still more! I hope that I can enjoy at least 1 or 2 further concert more!

It was this date in Eagles' history in 2008 that I saw my first & only Eagles' concert at a festival in Moncton, New Brunswick. What a thrill! I learned later that GH was there too! It was an outdoor venue with a crowd of 55,000 in attendance! They bring in big name entertainers to highlight the festival which is held once a year. This year it was U2. Pierce Brosnan was in the audience. (One of my favorite actors.)

Here is the link to an article posted last week in the Moncton newspaper, anticipating the U2 show & reminiscing about past years: http://timestranscript.canadaeast.com/opinion/article/1426405

Here are the parts that mention the Eagles:

In 2008, the Eagles brought a musically perfect show, along with a tremendously energetic John Fogerty to a crowd of 55,000.

And of course there was the final song of the Eagles concert, when the stage lights turned the gentle mist into a night-time rainbow as Don Henley sang Desperado. I think that was just a bit more incredible than walking through the crowd during the Bachman-Cumming show as a choir of 33,000 sang "Takin' Care of Business" at the top of their lungs.

That show is one of the best memories of my life :!: :!: :!: :partytime:

It's my turn to reminisce.

You can always tell when I use this avatar that it's the anniversary week of August 5, 1988 when I saw Glenn for the first time when he was touring as a guest of the Little River Band. Although his segment of the show only lasted about 45 minutes I was directly in front of him and it was beyond awesome. I still think the version of YBTTC I heard that night was perhaps the best ever; he shared the vocals in THIO with Glenn Shorrock which wasn't so good.

Obviously this photo is dear to my heart. I finally got some more eye contact photos last December which are better quality than this, but this is the first.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v242/ozeagle/Solo%20Years/August%201988/EyeContact.jpg

This is probably my favourite of the other photos; I think this is during the medley of Lyin' Eyes/Take It Easy (I would have preferred to hear the whole songs but he was a guest after all)..

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v242/ozeagle/Solo%20Years/August%201988/FreyAug884.jpg

We didn't get all of Desperado either but what we did get was wonderful:

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v242/ozeagle/Solo%20Years/August%201988/FreyAug8811.jpg

And that was it until 1995; and I thought that was it for solo performances. Seems I was wrong.

Today(9 Sept) 2008, I was on my first visit to the USA to stay with my friend Phyllis and we saw the Eagles at the Toyota Centre in Houston.
We were due to see them again on the 11th but they cancelled the show due to Hurricane Ike coming in. Galverston Island and South Houston suffered a lot of damage and many people were evacuated.

The cancelled Houston show was re-arranged for 1 December, so I missed that one; I gave my ticket to Phyl's mum who went instead of me.

A few of my photos from the Houston show - back in the days of the suits!

Three years ago today was the last time I saw the boys live - September 21, 2008 in Milwaukee, WI. It was my second Eagles concert and even though we had not-that-good seats, I still had the time of my life. I didn't get many good pictures and a lot of them are blurry, but they're still all on my computer and I changed my avatar to their performance of Hotel California. Looking forward to seeing them again someday! (40th anniversary's coming up...)

Sometimes, the not-so-good seats turn out being the best in the house.
It sounds like that was the case for you. By the time I was 15 I had only seen them twice too, but I can still remember where I sat and who I was with. You obviously loved it or you wouldn't remember the Anniversary date and I think you'll remember it always.
I hope everything works out and you can get to see them a third or even fourth time :partytime:
Do you remember what song they started with? I'm thinking it was How Long, but they changed things up a little so I may be wrong.

They did open with How Long. That's one of the songs I remember very vividly. And I'm really hoping they do another tour - I remember thinking that the LROOE tour would possibly be the last time I'd ever see them live, but all the possible 40th anniversary talk is making me cautiously optimistic about seeing them again. :D

No one can be absolutely sure, but I've got a very strong gut feeling that they will tour for their 40th Anniversary. Better start saving your babysitting money or your allowance in an "Eagles" fund. You never know when you're gonna need it!!

One year ago, 1st and 2nd October I saw the Eagles in Reno and Oakland.
The Reno show ended without encores as an alarm went off accidentally and the arena was cleared, even though we heard later that the Eagles were still back stage waiting to come back & do the encore(s). :-(An arena security mess-up there, as they should have told us it was a false alarm and that the band were coming back.

Oakland - great show. Got a smile from Will :)(we were front row and near him) and I won a set of Joe Walsh guitar strings from the Reno show in the ILAA party draw. What a night it was! Happy memories.

Another concert anniversary! October 18, 2003 was the first time I saw the Eagles in Green Bay, WI for the Farewell 1 tour. It's been eight years! That seems really long ago... which probably explains why I hardly remember anything. I do remember them opening with The Long Run, but along with some other vague details, that's about it. It was still fun, though - I remember going crazy when they started singing. :P

November 14 2004 was the night I saw the band in Melbourne on the F1 tour. I then saw them in Sydney on November 19-21 (three straight nights) and on the last night of the tour, December 4. The highlight of the Melbourne show was No More Cloudy Days; remembering how that made me melt works every time. It was the first time in 9 years that I had seen them.

Actually the November 30 photos would have been better if I had the camera on 'sport' rather than 'museum' as a helpful Borderer explained to me before I went to December 2. I therefore took extra care on December 2. For the last two shows I was on Joe's side.

I just realized as I was about to leave for work that today is a special Eagles-related day for me.

10 years ago today, on Dec. 6, 2001, I saw an Eagle live for the first time. It was Mr. Don Henley at Stevie Nicks' 2001 Arizona Heart Benefit. He performed an unforgettable version of End of the Innocence that was especially poignant considering the relatively recent events of 9/11; it gave me chills. He also performed Boys of Summer, and of course Leather and Lace with Stevie.

He and Stevie were wonderful together. I got this photo of them:

I have to admit, when Don introduced it by saying how much they were missing their families, I started to tear up (both for them and me - up until then leaving the kids behind had been a GOOD thing!!). It felt quite intimate that he would say something so personal (more in the way he said it, than the words). :-o :xoxo:

Just realised I missed my 2nd anniversary of seeing the Eagles twice at the Hollywood Bowl on 16 & 17 April 2010.

Quick thoughts:-

Opening with 7BR
Glenn wearing baseball cap backwards
Will looking gorgeous with longer hair(1st time I'd seen it longer)
Great sound at the Bowl
Being right in front of Timothy

Lots of people(including me!) stranded because of the volcanic ash causing flights out of US to parts of Europe to be cancelled.

EAGLES MGM GRAND, LAS VEGAS 24 APRIL 2010

Another 2nd anniversary today for me; I'd seen 2 Hollywood Bowl shows, and should have flown home to the UK by 24th.

Thanks to volcanic ash I got an extra 9 days holiday, so what else could an Eagles fan do, but get a concert ticket & a flight to Vegas? especially as my friends who I was staying with had already booked to go.
Not a difficult decision to make!! :D (and how would I ever forgive myself if I passed up an extra opportunity to see my darling Will?)

I could only get a seat on the side, rather than the floor but it was quite close to the stage - second block, lower level if I recall correctly.

It was a good show, with lots of crowd reaction. Even on the side seats people were on their feet & singing along. :yay:

I hadn't been to Vegas before, so it was a new experience for me. I remember looking out of the plane windows as we flew over the desert, and seeing Vegas coming into view. I hadn't seen that kind of landscape before(not a lot of desert in England!!).
It was very hot in Vegas that Saturday as I walked the Strip, taking photos and watching the fountains etc.

I'm not a gambler but I like to have a look around the casino, and I even risked $20 in the slots...and lost it of course. I do like to watch roulette, don't know why but it fascinates me.
Why are these places so sexist? they had 2 scantily clad young ladies dancing on the bar.....but no hunky male dancers. Not that I personally wanted to see them; after 3 hours of drooling over Will, the Eagles, Scottie-the-hottie et al, I'd seen enough hunky males for one night I guess. :smitten::smitten::smitten:

Yesterday a year ago I saw my 2nd Eagles concert, what a fantastic Day! I was excited the day I got all annoyed, I was only quiet when I finally sat in the arena, but only briefly! Lol ! Even if the set list was shorter than my first concert 2009 it was great! I've enjoyed every minute!

Oh, I remember that day & at first I didn't think I would be able to make it happen! I went from extreme anxiety to ultimate excitement!!!

Koala, I can relate to your thoughts, remembering is great. Two months ago I was packing and planning for the concerts in Atlanta.

This is a couple of days late, but I want to say Hi to Carole(Tequila Girl), Melanie(Annabel) & Hannah for lots of fun one year ago on 1st July at the Hop Festival in Kent UK where the Eagles did a short but well-received set. Hope to see you at another show soon.

BB King's 5 weeks ago. Will Tuesday ever be just a day of the week, and not how many weeks it's been since I saw Timothy?

Hopefully Steph! Do you think you'd be well enough if Glenn:heart: tours in the UK later in the year?

I remember the Hop Farm day too. I had been tempted to go but the fact that it would be a shorter set put me off. And I was very glad! Because while you girls were watching our boys performing I was booking my tickets for Niagara Falls!

What a year it has been for Glenn  and all of his fans!

GA, I'd love to see Glenn's show if he comes to the UK:thumbsup:(and hopefully he'll bring Will with him  'cos I'm in need of a 'sighting'). Hopefully I'll be allowed to drive again in a month or so; it depends on how quickly my right leg decides to come back to normal(still have some sensory loss at the moment) Keeping my fingers crossed.

Also GA, do you realise that it was 3 years ago that Phyllis and I met you & your family in Belfast and Dublin at the Eagles shows? How fast time goes by.
Here's some of my photos from those shows to help you remember(as if you would forget). You can see Will at the piano in the first photo, so the song is WITW.

On my recent trip to the UK, every time we stopped in a city where I saw the Eagles back in 2006, I had a wave of nostalgia! It was hard to keep from going on about it as we traveled through them, especially since back then I was also in the UK in June.

Those places full of Eagles memories that I visited this time around:

London, England at Twickenham (https://www.eaglesonlinecentral.com/forum/showthread.php?t=178)
When I saw a sign for it (we didn't go there), all I could think was "Wow, has it really been 6 years since I saw my second Eagles show ever?" I remember taking my first photos at an Eagles show. I was 4th row. Oh my gosh, I was so inappropriately gushy about certain things, it makes me almost want to go back and edit my review! But remember, we were still a private board then... at any rate, it was only my second show and I already thought the Plaintiff joke was old hat after hearing it on Farewell 1 and several live bootlegs (shhh). Little did I know how many more times I would hear it!

London England at Wembley (https://www.eaglesonlinecentral.com/forum/showthread.php?t=177):
I couldn't go to Shakespeare's Globe this time without remembering how I had to hustle from there to the Wembley show and almost didn't make it on time back in 2006. Then, I got to the ILAA counter and I got FIRST row! I wouldn't get that again until Atlanta a few months ago. Back in 2006 such a ticket cost about $500. Ah, the good old days... it was also the first time Glenn looked my way a few times during a concert, and I wondered if he recognized me from that first Pebble Beach trip that had occurred a few months prior. Pebble Beach was the only time he had ever seen me before, but heck, it was for three days, so it was possible he'd remember! Gosh, I was so hyper-concerned about Glenn recognizing me back then - what would he think of me if he saw me in London, I wondered worriedly. Luckily eventually I came to realize that while Glenn has an amazing memory and seems to remember people regardless of how few times he's met them, he doesn't find it odd that people go to multiple shows, even if they are far apart. (I know, "duh" right? I was just very insecure. I'm much better about that now... and you know, Glenn kind of helped me out in that regard. I'm not saying I owe my increased self-esteem to him because I don't need Glenn to be sweet to me in order to be validated or anything like that, but what can I say, it did me good. It did me a lot of good.)

Cardiff, Wales (https://www.eaglesonlinecentral.com/forum/showthread.php?t=176)
My thoughts this time: "It's nice to see the city instead of just the area around the concert venue." It was an impulse show that I went to because glenneaglesfan was going and I was staying with her at the time, so I didn't have a ticket. I walked around the venue talking to 'ticket touts' for an hour. Yeah, I have no desire to walk around that part of Cardiff again! Now I have memories of the city as amazingly beautiful and full of history. Cardiff has much improved in my mind with this recent trip. ;)

We didn't go to Glasgow, but seeing as how my memories of that concert were pretty bad, it's just as well!

Ah, reminiscing.

I saw my 1st Eagles' concert on Aug 4, 2008 in Moncton, New Brunswick. I had joined The Border on July 27th. Memories, sweet memories!

GlennHoney was also at this concert, although I hadn't communicated with her on The Border at that time.
