Soda, though maybe not as self-rewarding as a dissertation, your posts have brought information, insight, caring and happiness to all who have read them. As we celebrate this milestone with you, know that there are not enough thanks, not enough hugs, not enough posts in the world that can let you know how much your dedication to this board and the sites that surround it have meant to all of us. We love you!

Does anyone have a favorite Soda post or story? Let the fun begin!

OHHHH mymymy.. the BIG 10K!!! lets compare, shall we?

IF your posts were FENCE posts, they would reach from the base of Mount McKinley to the top and back TWICE....

IF your posts were pages in a book they would equal (in length, not content, although I do find your posts often more entertaining and informative and understandable then theirs) the complete works of Issac Azmov AND James A Mitchner, or Nancy Drew and The Hardy Boys, which ever you prefer.

IF your posts were pounds of tomatoes (give me a break, I have tomatoes on my brain) they'd make 9070 14 oz bottles of katchup.

IF your posts were Big Macs it would take 3 and 1/2 days to sell them all in the USA.

IF your posts were condoms it would take 8 hours to sell in the USA

(Okay, in OBVIOUS response to the last two posts, keeping in mind condoms are usually sold in boxes of 12 or more ~ dont ask~ and Big Macs are usually sold one at a time per individual, STILL a man might be able to eat 3 big macs a week, doubtfully he'll be using 3 condoms a week, especially IF he's eating 3 big macs a week.)

Now, in all seriousness (dont laugh, I can be serious) no matter if they're short notes, or long rambling tangents, all of your posts have always been informative, entertaining and fun. Thanks so much for all your hard work. Between balancing your demanding work, your personal family life and friends and this board, someday, if I ever choose to grow up, I hope Im as eloquent, gracious and dedicated as you. Thanks again.

Woo hoo!!!! Congrats Soda on 10,000 posts. And like PM I want to thank you for your creation of and dedication to the website and the board. This place gives us all a chance to make new friends and to share our love of the Eagles without being subjected to the eye rolling and talk of unhealthy obsession and padded rooms we may otherwise encounter from those who just do not understand!

And truly, 10,000 posts is an amazing feat. I am about to hit a whopping 200 so I can't imagine EVER getting even close to that... you rock!!! :headbang:

Yes, many congratulations, Nancy  10,000 posts is quite incredible!

As PM said, words can't express how grateful we are for your hard work on the EOC sites. This community is my favourite place on the net, and the fact that some 'Borderers' have become 'real' friends, is fantastic. I'd never have seen Don in his solo shows if it wasn't for this site - that's the kind of impact your time and effort has had on my life! Seriously. I'm not overstating this. Thank you.

You're incredibly witty, warm and intelligent and I love reading your posts, as well as our nights in chat - they're always such a blast. I am confident we'll meet one day in the not-too-distant future... and I can't wait! I'm sure lots of favourite Soda posts (and a few dreams!) will be coming up - I'll have to have a search at a more decent hour ;) But, for now, know how much we all appreciate you here. You rock.

If this isn't my favorite Soda post, then it's right up there! It's from the Glenn Frey forum,
Glenn's doing Pebble Beach thread and it's dated 2-09-07.
---------------------------------------------------------------

HOLY CRAP!!! HOLY CRAP!!!! HOLY FRICKIN’ CRAP!!!!!

We’ll get back to that later. We’ll do this in chronological order.

For now, just the highlights… and we have some pretty HIGH lights, folks.

The first thing we should note is that my and PLS’ fears that Glenn would be freaked, annoyed, or downright scared to see us again were quickly put to rest. As PLS, dreamer, and I approached, he actually waved and smiled before teeing off (I smiled sheepishly, somewhat embarrassed, but PLS and dreamer smiled and waved back). As soon as he’d teed off, he came down and talked to us. We’ll go into what he said later.

As the day progressed, he often smiled and looked our way, once walked with us down the fairway chit-chatting, gave us all picks, occasionally would direct comments our way, and signed dreamer’s Strange Weather CD.

Then, on the 18th hole, it happened. He came over to talk to us one last time. We chatted about this and that (I asked him about golf, PLS talked to him about surgeries and kids – more later). He hadn’t been playing his best (although he held his own and made a comeback after starting slowly). The day was cloudy. The game of his partner, Stadler, was kind of sucking all day, hate to say it. He talked about how tomorrow would be better… and then, by way of parting…

HE KISSED ALL THREE OF US ON OUR CHEEKS.

Can you say HOLY CRAP! HOLY FREAKIN’ CRAP!

Now, before anyone gets the wrong idea, he was just being sweet. In fact immediately afterwards, he talked about how happy he was in life and mentioned he had a great wife.

So… that’s all for now folks. More details later!

Oh my gosh, guys! I am so touched, I seriously have tears in my eyes. I checked and my 10,000th post was in Frey Fever, so I just deleted the two quick administrative posts I shot off so I could hold onto that glory! ;) Hard to believe, but I actually didn't notice I had hit 10,000 tonight until I saw this thread!

I have been feeling down lately and this just made my heart swell! I can't think you enough for these kinds words!

Congratulations on your 10,000th post, Nancy. You have certainly had some entertaining posts over the last few years, that's for sure. I join everyone in thanking you from the bottom of my heart for all you have done and continue to do to make this community and all of the EOC sites thrive. We have sure come a long way primarily due to your hard work, dedication, and enthusiasm. Thank you, thank you, a thousand times thank you!!! We do indeed love you!

Now, I have several favorite posts, and I have to admit that I am somewhat biased about some of them. The one PM posted is one of my favorites, and this one from Glenn's show in Niagara Falls ranks right up near the top as well. I'm not posting the entire post, just the ending ...

Well, while it may be out of sequence, I’ve been saving our most personally exciting news for last. So here’s the kicker, folks. Glenn had seen us… and…

HE DEDICATED I LOVE TO WATCH A WOMAN DANCE TO US BY NAME.

Exact words: “I’d like to dedicate this song to some friends of mine – Lissa from California, Nancy from Indiana, and Kay from Virginia. They drove all the way out here to watch the old man sing.” Needless to say we were FREAKING. Oh my gosh, he is so cool!!!!!! Can I get a HOLY FRICKIN’ CRAP here? I think so! This is a man who obviously cares about his fans. What a guy! I admire and respect him so much (gush, gush, gush).

Pretty Awesome Soda. 10K. I've see on other forums, folks with 10K or more posts, but they are the ones who totally dominate the forums they are on.

Such is NOT the case here.

Your discretion in posting and the information you disseminate here are so appreciated as is your devotion to keeping the forum running on an even keel despite the varying biases we all have...you keep us in line.

Congratualtions from me, too, Soda! I've had a busy weekend since the chat Friday night, so am sorry to be late with this.

I just want to thank you too for maintaining all of these wonderful Eagles sites. I've learned so much and this, most definitely, is my favorite place on the net. Even though I haven't gotten to meet you in person, I feel like I've known you for a long time and hope that someday we will get to meet. You seem to be a genuine, caring, fun loving young lady. Thanks so much for sharing your fandom with all of us and for making this such a fun place to be. You rock!

Here's another one of my favorite Soda posts. Many of us know about Soda's knack for getting a great concert seat at the last minute. Here TBF is talking about perhaps wishing that she had waited longer before she bought her Chicago Eagles ticket, and Soda gives her some sage advice.

It's dated 8-25-08 and you can also read it here: https://www.eaglesonlinecentral.com/forum/showthread.php?t=880&page=9

But does make me wonder if maybe I shouldn't have been more patient instead of jumping on the first day to get them. I just couldn't help myself-I'm an Eagles virgin and couldn't wait!

I am so sorry I wasn't here when this milestone was hit. Reading these posts have really put a smile on my face (especially this last one!). :hilarious: I really can't think of a favorite but I know I have always enjoyed each and every one of them. What a way with words you always have.

Now the mushy part....
This board has meant so very very much to me since the day I discovered it (I lurked for several months if not a year or so) and I don't remember what made me actually finally join but I do remember that it had something to do with a poster (didn't know she was the creator at the time) by the name of Sodascout who was always so friendly and knowledgeable. I just knew that I had a HUGE thing in common with all that were here. At the time, things were mighty low in my life with several losses of friends and family members and life wasn't going so well for me and as silly as this may sound, this board helped to ease the pain quite a bit, and has continued to do so since. I had always used the Eagles music to help me thru every tough time and this board seemed to be just one more Eagles related thing that would also help. Little did I know at the time how much it would mean to me and how much all the cyber friends I've met thru it, would mean to me also.

I can also say that thru this wonderful board and sight, I have forged a wonderful friendship and have so enjoyed her visits to my home and the concerts adventures we have shared together.

Nancy, I'm so glad to call you my friend. I hope you get everything in life you strive for. But most of all I hope you continue this board for at least the rest of my life because now, I just can't picture a day without it.

A big congratulations to you, Soda! I can't say better what has already been said in the previous posts! (Especially trying to calculate what 10,000 items stack up to be, as Rhonda did...still curious as to how she did that, but laughing all the same! :hilarious: ) I will nominate my favorite Soda Story, which I have mentioned fairly recently, though I forget where. (I'm sorry, I don't know how to link it.) The absolutely funniest thing I have ever read on this site is the Infamous Screwdriver Hunt...listed under Glenn's Doing Pebble Beach, pg. 18, Post 173. The mental images those paragraphs, by Soda, Dreamer, and PLS summon up are priceless...kinda like Lucy and Ethel would do, I imagine. :hilarious: Post onward and upward!

Soda, I just want to reiterate how much I appreciate your work on "The "Border" & the Eagles Online sites. I know that it must take many hours of your time, especially to keep us all in line. :)

I hope Glenn really does know that you are the Webmistress of his site & creator of this Eagles online "empire".In fact, all the Eagles should know! They couldn't have a more loyal & dedicated fan. Also, on the flip side, I know that you go out of your way to protect their privacy. By this I mean that you use great discretion when deciding what should be included on the sites and posted on the board. For example, you asked Cindy for permission before you posted the video that you took of Glenn & Deacon at The Roxy. I'm sure also, that in your posted accounts of conversations with Glenn at Pebble Beach, you have only included the details that Glenn would have wanted made public & have respected his privacy. You have kept me in check by teaching me web etiquette & I thank you for that. You are able to do all this with much tact. Again, my sincerest appreciation goes out to you. I too have never met you, but I consider you my friend, as I do the others on the board.

Thanks Dreamer!

In the old Frey Fever thread, Eaglesvet posted this picture and asked Soda about her username
and we finally got the story...

http://www.glennfreyonline.com/images/GFreyZigZagMag.jpg

I've always wondered how "Sodascouts" came to be your username...does this have something to do with it?? :hmm:
------------------------------------------------------------

(Soda's answer)

Nah, it's just coincidence! A nice coincidence.

I came up with my username in a rather mundane way. My parents had gotten AOL in 1995, and I was trying to come up with a unique name. I have a love for Coca-Cola (Coke Zero now is my new fave) and so I thought my username would be Soda. Only problem is - there was already a Soda, and I didn't want to be Soda93721. I tried things like SodaPop and such with no success. I decided in order to be unique I would have to stick something completely nonsensical on the end of Soda.

The movie To Kill a Mockingbird happened to be on the TV at the time. The lead character is named Scout. I decided that SodaScout sounded cool, and attempted to enter in that user name. The only problem is that I screwed up the registration, and when I tried to do it again, it told me "SodaScout" was already taken (by me, of course... ack!) So I added an "s" and got SodaScouts.

I used it everywhere, because I knew it would never be taken! Then, after I got cyberstalked, I realized using the same username everywhere may not be the best idea! It allows people to track you anywhere you go on the internet, so I'd advise against it.

But here, and everywhere else I posted before 2008, I went by SodaScouts. And here, SodaScouts I will remain!

A special mention goes to Dream #4 though. "Use that mouth to say nice things." LOL! I wanna see that sexy, lazy smile. Plus, a rockin' version of I Will Not Go Quietly... what's not to love?

OMG, from the Wal-Mart dream...this had me ROFL!

One group is saying that all Eagles fans should buy futons.

I have to vote for #4 though. Telling Don to use that mouth to say nice things is a hoot!

I am SOOO torn here.. Im crazy about #1.. the whole idea of Glenn carrying around a tray full of hot wings and pigs in a blanket.. love it.. but then #3.. and the whole "Im far too famous" line... saving the whole town, beating the evil woman who's taken over the town.. the whole thing.. is awesome.. hard to choose... can I vote for both? 1 and 3??

A hard decision all dreams are great! I vote for dream #3. This dream wins before dream #1 and #5!

Right now Dreams #1 and 5 are neck and neck with 2 votes each, with dreams #3 and 4 trailing by one! (Note to self - maybe I should have had fewer nominees...) I'll crown the winner while I'm home for lunch today. That'll give everyone a few more hours. In the meantime, coming up in my next post is one last fun Soda game!

Okay - I've gotta go with Dream #5 - the image of Nancy fighting with Texas Glenn is just way too funny. Trust me on this one folks - that was indeed a dream!!!

And again, PM - you have really outdone yourself with this celebration, girl. It's time for you to take a bow.

:yay: :yay: :yay:

The votes are in and It's A Tie between
1 ) I go to a meet'n'greet, get dissed by fans, but spot Glenn and sneak off to hang with him, where he presents me with appetizers (https://www.eaglesonlinecentral.com/forum/showthread.php?p=63526#post63526)

and

5 ) Seeing the Eagles in a Mexican restaurant, going to see Glenn's weird friends, and fighting with him (https://www.eaglesonlinecentral.com/forum/showthread.php?p=75444#post75444)

Congratulations Dreams 1 and 5!

Don't worry folks. Soda is constantly churning the dreams out, so we're bound to get some more!

Dream#1 - TBF, Brooke and GL
Dream#5 - PM, Troub and Dreamer
Dream#3 - Koala and Ticky
Dream#4 - Lynnzop

Thanks for playing!

As long as there's an Eagle and food involved, I don't care which dream won! :hilarious:

And I'd also like to say that it's one thing to have a dream, but the way Soda remembers details and tells the story is the most fun. She certainly has a knack for that! (As I'm posting this I'm remembering the part in Dream #5 where she spills a glob of sauce on her white pants!) :hilarious:

Thanks! I love having Eagles dreams but they seem to have dried up for now! :sigh: I knew my "run" of them was too good to last!

Well, I have to say, this has been a fun thread for me! ;) Thanks again!
