CL, your weather may be mild but from all news accounts a lot of you are living on shaky ground right now!!!!!! Hope YOU weren't effected by the 'shake, rattle and roll' yesterday.

As for the UK, my son-in-law is from Manchester and his family has been reporting how extreme their weather has been. I thought about that when I saw Timmy's post and wondered if he was having second thoughts! But EXPANDO is about to make its official debut in Europe so he probably had this trip scheduled for months. And I wouldn't be surprised to learn, after the fact, that he and Jean included Ireland on their itinerary for personal as well as professional reasons.

sodascouts
01-10-2010, 11:33 AM
Even if his flight was canceled, I'm sure he simply rescheduled. Still, what a pain! Better safe than sorry, though!

cynd1231
01-10-2010, 12:45 PM
Then again he and Jean could be hanging out in Boston. Ben had to go back to school after the Christmas break and non-stop flights from Boston to London are common. If they flew into Logan to take Ben back to school and their flight to London got cancelled because of the weather over there........I was looking at the arrivals info for Heathrow online and with the exception of some cancelled flights due to arrive from the continent (i.e., Paris primarily) everything appears to be on schedule today so hopefully they managed to get in yesterday without too much trouble.

If by BBC Music you mean this (http://www.bbc.co.uk/music/reviews/djwx) I don't read it as particularly flattering.

TimothyBFan
01-15-2010, 08:30 AM
UKTF--just read it and tend to agree with you. Not the worst I've ever read but far from the best either. "There’s something particularly reassuring about Schmit’s limited-range vocals," :woah: and "Friday Night is perhaps a little too sugary for some tastes, but you can’t fault the sincerity in the man’s delivery," and "Expando becoming something more than the pleasing background fare it feels like first and second time around." :headscratch: I don't take as flattery. Maybe I'm reading to much into it tho. Little touchy about some of these reviews some times.

Freypower
01-15-2010, 05:46 PM
That is the same one that that proposemusic.com site posted which I said was a translation. Reading it in proper English doesn't improve it in my opinion. "Welcomed lethargy'? 'Instrumentally insouciant'? It's very badly written. No wonder the translation on the other site was so awful. You will see that I was right when I said that in English the phrase was 'you can't fault the sincerity in the man's delivery'.

But did you see the comments?

1. 'the link to the Eagles seems misguided'. HUH???
2. 'He may be the Eagles' TBS to you but to many of us he's Poco's TBS'.

A question for you Tim diehards. Are there any of you who agree with that second comment?

I don't disagree with it. I think it is very true. While some will only think of Tim as an Eagle... a real Tim or Poco fan will also consider him a Poco guy. In all honesty, Tim had a real role in Poco, so I can relate to it.

I'm one of those people that say, TBS of the Eagles, formally of Poco. I include both. In Poco, he was a leader, a driving force... in the Eagles, he's a sideman. It's a shame, because we all know the man can sing.

I tend to disagree a bit with ltlh---I most definitely am "a real Tim fan" and much more and longer than some--and I can honestly say I think of him more than anything as an Eagle, a solo artist and then a member of Poco. Maybe only because I didn't become a fan of his till he was an Eagle and then also discovered he was with Poco. Also think it could be because, unless you've lived under a rock the last 30+ years, you know who the Eagles are but not everyone really knows that much about Poco. I know I really wouldn't if it wasn't for Timothy and tho I do like some of the music, I don't consider myself a huge fan of Poco by any means. Rarely listen to them in fact. I do agree he was a big part of Poco but I just don't think of him as "the guy from Poco". JMHO.

As far as the last tweet---gotta say my curiosity is definitely aroused. Hmm! :headscratch:

Apologies, Borderers, I've had one of those days when I kept running as fast as I could and still ended up ten yards behind the start line. :brickwall: And as for the idiot who phoned me twice in five minutes about market research :censored: and :machinegun:

I'll just do a brief summary for now, and then finish off the proper word-for-word report tomorrow.

Tim was wearing a black jacket and trousers, black shoes, and a grey round-necked T-shirt which had Expando written across it. (Like the writing on the black T-shirt shown as an offer with the CD on Tim's website, but without the Timothy B Schmit.)

Brief intro followed by three clips.

Clip of Hotel California with Joe with long hair and a bandana, Don Felder in check shirt with his double guitar, Glenn with long hair and ‘bandit’ moustache, Don Henley on drums – and Randy! The back drop has the words Hotel California, and I’m sure all you experts will know exactly which show it was from.
Clip of Tim, presumably in a studio, wearing yellow headphones, singing ‘I can’t tell you why’ with a glimpse of Don, also wearing yellow headphones, on drums. It’s the bit where Don closes his eyes, hits a drum, opens his eyes, and sorts of rolls them as if someone has sung a bum note- or hit the wrong drum! :)
Clip from 'How long' with chorus then Don singing 'I've been doing time in a lonesome prison where the sun don't shine'.

Presenter said that although Tim had been with the Eagles for 33 years he was relatively one of the new boys, and Tim agreed.

He was asked how he joined the Eagles, and said he got a call from Glenn asking if he was interested in joining them, and Tim said that although he calmly accepted inside he was jumping up and down.
Asked if he was nervous about joining the Eagles, Tim said what had made him nervous was that they'd asked him to join them before he'd played a note with them. But he knew that they were all professional musicians, and that after the first rehearsal it seemed the perfect fit for both them and him.

The presenters then rattled off a list of some of the people Tim has worked with, and then showed a clip of him singing 'Parachute'.

Asked about becoming a solo artist, Tim said that he'd released albums, but hadn't toured on his own. And it's different from being with the band but he's enjoying the solo tour. Then there was a bit more about the difference of touring with the band to by himself.

He's playing Manchester, Birmingham and London while in the UK, but at smaller venues than the o2 (big arena in London for those who don't know) where the Eagles played last year. Tim also said that it's easier to play the larger areans and stadiums' because you have the protective cover of the band'.

The presenter then made the old comment about Tim being the only Californian in the band, to which Tim replied 'You've been doing your homework'.

Then it was 'Good luck with the tour, and on tomorrow's programme we have....'.

All in all, about 7 minutes max.

(If you're wondering how I can make a word-for-word transcript, it's because I videoed the interview. Unfortunately I can't do all the gizmo-ey technical stuff that some of you [especially Soda] can do. )

With special thanks to Soda for the update about Tim's appearance on the programme.

Sorry, Cynd, but as I've already said I can't do techie-gizmo stuff. (There are times when I make mistakes just recording on a video!)
However ...... I am going to try something. It probably won't work, and it will take me at least a fornight to even find the time to try it (I need quiet moments with no distractions when I try new stuff :)), so please don't hold your breath. But I will do my best.

That is cool. Terry Wogan (I presume it's Terry) is very popular which means a lot of people will be listening - Yay! Actually, I cannot believe Terry is still going strong. I used to listen to him driving into work (when I was in the UK) and that was a L O N G time ago - lol.

That's cool you used to listen to Wogan back in the day, tbs! He's absolutely still going strong. He has a TV quiz show on most nights called Perfect Recall, and he continues to comment on Eurovision, and host Children In Need. He actually stopped doing his breakfast show at the end of last year, which was quite a big deal, but he started doing a Sunday morning show in February - that's what Tim will be featured on. I'm looking forward to listening in tomorrow!

For those who tend to sleep in, fire up your PC's, activate your internet and type "BBC2" into your search box....check the schedule for Terry Wogan cause here is the good news......

'Broadcast today, 11:00 on BBC Radio 2 and available soon on BBC iPlayer. Sir Terry Wogan is joined by Timothy B. Schmit, Albert Lee and Sheila Hancock'

Just finished listening BUT it will be available on their website to replay at your convenience. You just need to make sure you've got the BBC iPlayer downloaded on your computer. HAPPY LISTENING -- it was awesome and I plan to play it again. You may also want to check out the general BBC listings for other appearances. (Don't you just love modern technology?!?)

The only problem with typing BBC2 into your computer is that you're likely to end up with the BBC2 TV channel. :-)
If I can provide a direct link http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio2/ should work.
There's also supposed to be a video link (think Tim's is 'still to come') but I don't know if people outside the UK will be able to view it.

(Tim was on in the first half of the show, interview, and then he sang 'Parachute'. A record by someone else played, then Tim sang 'Ella Jean'.
Albert Lee was on in the second half of the show.)

Right now I'm sitting at the hospital with my family. Mom goes into surgery in a few hours and they've already told us it's going to take a minimum of 3-4 hours. Depending on what they find in the exploratory portion, she may be going straight for radiation treatments. It's going to be a longgggggggggg day. This was on FB... but didn't think we needed to make a new topic... it's from TBS:
Hello All,

I am now fully immersed in the touring world of the Eagles, and it’s taking up the majority of my time, but I’m happy to be back. As most of you know, we have this spring run of shows, then we’ll be doing the summer stadium shows (http://www.facebook.com/note_redirect.php?note_id=382313764314&h=3272e0360044a327db85b2554716cb78&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.timothybschmit.com%2Fhome.php %3Fcontent%3Dtour) starting in June. What you probably don't know is that another division of Universal has exuberantly taken over my project and is treating it as a new release. That would be Universal Music Entertainment, or UMe. I’m very happy to have them on board as they are showing an excitement that was previously missing. I will continue to do press and radio as much as possible with my busy schedule. Also, something new: Expando is now being sold at every Eagles show. You can find it along side all the other items, such as T-shirts and hats. So, if you’re planning on seeing the band soon, here’s an easy way to pick up a copy or two.

As always, I thank you for your support ... Keep an eye on my website (http://www.facebook.com/note_redirect.php?note_id=382313764314&h=3272e0360044a327db85b2554716cb78&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.timothybschmit.com%2Fhome.php %3Fcontent%3Dtour) for more info as to what I’m up to, and I’ll see you

Found it on my Facebook page when I logged in earlier and (sorry) posted it as a new thread. Jumped the gun because it was already here. I have no doubt some of you have signed on to Tim's Facebook and have already seen it but it's certainly worth posting here. It think this is absolutely terrific news for both Timothy and EXPANDO and I'm truly excited to hear that Universal has gotten behind him. Let's hope that the new, added exposure and promotions push this project to the top for him!

(Mom is doing well, much better than we could have hoped for, and is scheduled to be discharged tomorrow. Much to do to get things set up for her at home but we're so glad to see her fighting spirit rise to the surface because she's got a long road ahead. Thanks to everyone who sent their well-wishes.)

A new tweet from Tim

Here we go ... Off to Toronto and elsewhere for the rest of the month ... Check out TBS site or eaglesband.com ... See you
about 16 hours ago via web

Hey Tim, I would LOVE to check out eaglesband.com if it ever did anything more than list tour dates. You know, like give us new photos. All I ever look at it for is to check if there is any new merchandise. I come to EOC and here for news.

I know he feels obliged to make that comment but the site is not exactly a mine of information. Especially if you are not going to see the tour.

sodascouts

I think he just meant that fans should check the site for information on tour dates, FP.

Freypower

I know that Soda, but I just took the chance to say that that site could be so much more than it is.

Timothy has posted a new Tweet today.......
.....and he's talking about 'the next album'. :yay: Hopefully we won't have to wait so long for it as we did for 'Expando'.
Though if it's a choice between solo gigs and an album, I'll opt for the gigs every time, because he can always sing the new songs before he puts them on an album.

Seeing how Glenn and Don just jumped at the chance to put something Timothy wrote on LROOE, my guess is that he's talking solo here.

But then again, Glenn did recently say in that Australian interview that next year may be a time for writing some new material. Maybe the guys are going to try to write some stuff next year and see if they can come up with enough quality material for another Eagles album. All I can say is "Tim - keep on tryin'!"

LOL.

It's always exciting to have a Tim post appear on my twitter feed. Even when he doesn't say anything of particular import... something about the fact that, for a moment, he sat at a keyboard and his thoughts were focused on us, his loyal minions... Even though he doesn't refer to it as "twattering" like John Cleese does, he's still entertaining.

It's so exciting when he appears on my tweetfeed (or whatever it's called; the vernacular has basically reached levels Charlie Chaplin would find comical). There's this surge of excitement for a moment: Wow, Tim messaged me! Oh, perhaps not. Perhaps it's a generic status update. Ah, well; I'll just pretend we're good friends. Anyway, happy birthday! Sixty-something and gorgeous. Still the best hair in the business, imho.
