Too much to say and my mind just isn't what is used to be, so I'll do my best and the others can fill in. I arrived shortly after 5:00 to meet Soda, TimothyBFan and Prettymaid. (Three of the sweetest ladies, really, they are!) I really didn't think people would be lining up, as it was bar, but I was very wrong. There were some girls there since 3:00. (Dedication I tell you!) We got in line probably around 5:30 ish. This is when we started chatting it up w/several other die hard fans that were there. We swapped stories about shows we've been too and other stuff fans do. Finally, at 8:30, yes, three hours later, we were let into the music area. During this 3 hour period, I also had the pleasure of meeting ConnieK, what a sweet lady she was too! Actually, everyone we met was just so happy and excited to be there, that really added to the experience.

Ok, they are letting people in and TimFan was lucky enough to be front and center. (WTG) TimothyBFan was right up to the stage to the left so I'm sure she'll have awesome pics to share! Prettymaid, me and Soda was right behind. We had a great place to view our boy! Approx at 9:00 the side door, right next to us opened and it was Jean and Timothy. Someone escorted Jean somewhere near the back and Timothy went to the stage. Here's the thing, from the door to the stage was probably about six footsteps. It was pretty small quarters.

Timothy is handed a guitar and walks up to the mic. No hellos, just leads right into The Shadow. Beautiful, really nothing more to say. After that, he welcomed us. He then played Friday Night. I was singing along, as I had the whole song memorized. (thanks myspace!). The rest of the set list went like this, Compassion, One More Mile, ICTYW, White Boy, Keep on Tryin’, What Am I Gonna Do, Parachute, I Don’t Mind, Ella Jean, Downtime, Secular Praise, A Good Day… the encore was IDWTHA and an acoustic LWKUA.

Here are the things that stuck out to me. White Boy was fun and upbeat, you could tell he had fun with it.. He introduced it as this being an autobiographical song if ever there was one. I loved Keep on Tryin’ because to me, it was a way of him tending to his roots and honoring is past. The highlight of the show for me was when he covered the old Poco tune, What Am I Gonna Do. I knew every word, but sung along low because the place was so quiet except for Timothy, you could have heard a pin drop. The band left the stage and it was just him and his acoustic guitar belting out this lovely song. He also had wonderful things to say about Richie Furay, and I so admire him for that. While it wasn’t a song off of Expando, it was still my highlight. I was actually touched. When he introduced Parachute, he said that they are hoping to get that song on the radio. Then he made some cute comment about they can pick any of his songs to play on the radio, but I don’t recall the exact quote. Ok, Timothy shattered my dreams of him falling madly in love with me and swooping me off to a remote locale when he sang Ella Jean. It is so very clear how in love with her he is after all these years. He basically said she was in Hawaii doing a project and he missed her, so he wrote the song. (How freaking sweet is that?) For Have a Good Day, he shed his guitar and bass… just a little harmonica was all he had, and that was fun little song. That was it for the CD. He walked to the side of the stage for a second and came back. He said (paraphrasing), “I’m not gonna pretend to go off somewhere and come back, because there is no dressing room here. To go to a dressing room, I’d need a coat and muffler”. I think it’s funny that he thought it was so cold and Jean was dressed w/a scarf and all, because I was wearing short sleeves and a lightweight jacket. In any case, he sang his ampted up version of IDWHA, and it was really good! I mean really good! Then, everyone left the stage except for him and Hank. Hank played guitar and Timothy sang Love Will Keep Us Alive. Wow, what a perfect way to hear that song. He did a fantastic job!

Plenty more stuff to add, but I have to save something for the other girls to say! All in all, it was great fun and I met a lot of cool people. Now, this is what you all really want, pics!

I do believe those are really the best ones I have. My photo's of Hank didn't come out. I'm bummed about that because he was a really cool guy. I can't wait to see pics from everyone else. I'm sure there are going to be many, because we weren't even asked to put the cameras away. Thank you Timothy for allowing us to capture your image so we may cheerish that show forever!!!

Well, we are all back at TBF's place and PM and I are going to stay the night. We are all very tired, but we will try to add a few highlights and expand(o) more tomorrow (haha).

Like LTL, we loved talking to everyone around us and it made those three hours go by more quickly than they would have otherwise (although it still seemed like forever before they opened the doors!)

Once we were inside, we were all astonished by how small the place was and how close we were going to be to Timothy. It was so thrilling to be there and I couldn't help but compare it to an Eagles show and how distant they are on that stage. It was really mind-blowing. The stage itself was so small that all of the backup band was practically on top of him and each other.

It was so wonderful to see Timothy playing instruments besides the bass (although he joked that you can never have too many bass players because everyone except the drummer played bass at one point). He played acoustic guitar excellently and also rocked that harmonica! lol

The new album is terrific - we heard every song except for Melancholy. I didn't get any photos, but I got shakily filmed videos of White Boy from Sacramento and Parachute. White Boy from Sacramento was a hoot, and full of lots of funny lines about himself and his musical journey. Lines like "I can sing it no problem" and "I'll sing Love Will Keep Us Alive" had everyone cracking up - yes those are actually in the song! (I don't remember them exactly, but that's the idea).

Friday Night went over really well with a lot of hardcores knowing the chorus at least. Tim seemed pleased by how well it was received. He really moved while he played not only this but other upbeat songs. He moves around on the stage with the Eagles, but he doesn't get down, flinging his hair around, dancing, and rocking out. LOVED IT.

Another really good new song that was received well was Downtime. It was really funky and folks were dancing to it. He flubbed a lyric, but he was so smooth about it I almost thought it was a deliberate joke.

Ella Jean is pretty, and is very Beach Boys-esque in its arrangement and structure.

The three backup ladies added a lot to the songs they contributed to like Secular Praise, White Boy from Sacramento, and I Don't Want to Hear Any More (when they were offstage, they were very supportive, hollering things like "SING IT TIM!") I Don't Want to Hear Any More, with the ladies backing Tim up and with a more soulful, R&B interpretation, actually IMHO is better than the arrangment with the Eagles. He didn't sing the lines "I don't want to hear anymore / You don't need to tell me it's over" - they did, and he sang some ad libs over it. It was really cool and I loved it. That was probably a highlight for me.

A couple more notes - when he was intro'ing What Am I Gonna Do, he said that he was going to do an obscure song because now "I can do whatever I want" to great cheers. It must be such a rewarding experience for him. You could see how great a time he was having and how gratified he was by all of the attention from the hardcore fans. At one point, his guitarist Hank said "Good crowd" and Timothy echoed "What he said." No chastisements to be quiet for the Chicago crowd!

He also said "I might have to do more of this" but I wouldn't bet the bank on it. Still, you never know!

No meet and greet afterwards, which was disappointing, but it didn't ruin the experience by any means. We just feel so lucky to have been able to witness such a rarity and see Tim shining on the stage alone. It was a terrific show and I don't blame the folks who are going to more than one or flying from a distance. It was totally worth it.

Tomorrow, when we're more alert, we'll add anything we can think of. Right now, I'm signing off!

Thanks soooo much for the reviews ladies!!! I've read them over twice already because I'm so excited about all of this. I think Timothy doing his solo thing right now is just what we all needed during this Eagles break. I'm really enjoying soaking up all of the Timmy articles and the excitement over the new album.

I'm so glad that you all had a wonderful time last night...I knew you all would. Just before I left for work last night, I thought about all of you Borderers that were there and imagined how excited you all must have been. From the looks of the AWESOME pics that LTL took, looks like you all had an excellent view. Love all of the pics. Thanks for those, LTL. Like FP said, it's great that you got a pic of him performing without a guitar. I think it's really cool that he played the harmonica too. I would've loved to have seen that in person.

White Boy from Sacramento was a hoot, and full of lots of funny lines about himself and his musical journey. Lines like "I can sing it no problem" and "I'll sing Love Will Keep Us Alive" had everyone cracking up - yes those are actually in the song!

:hilarious: That's too funny!!! Reading that makes me more anxious to get the new album. I'm glad that he was able to show a different side and poke fun at himself. It's great to hear their opinions on serious topics in their songs (Eagles and solo) but it's also nice to see a lighter side every once in a while. I'm glad he was able to have some fun like this on this new album.

Hey everyone!! We're back!! Did I tell you guys that I was going to see Timothy B Schmit in concert last night? :hilarious: I will get back with more later but I wanted to post a couple pictures. They were taken with my cell camera so not near as good as ltlh's but I will treasure them forever. I think they are going to need some resizing. I was right at the stage so they are close up.

First--his "ride" when he showed up for sound check.

Ok, I'm back.

Brooke--No I am not! :hilarious: I'm in very very deep PTW!! :-( I miss him already.

We got up after a few hours sleep and did breakfast and Nancy & Cathy are back on the road for home now. So I thought I'd get back on here and give my version. We pretty well covered most of it last night but let me put my personal spin on it all. Bare with me-I know most of you here will understand. I'm sure Soda & PM will add more also.

We got into Chicago and scoped out the venue, had brunch there etc. Talked to the bar tender that said he figured sound check would be around 7. Off we went to explore a bit, then went back to the car regrouped and headed back to Shubas thinking we would have dinner and then it would be time to line up. A few others were already there, so we decided to hop on line, several hours before. I seriously think I was still in a state of disbelief of what we were about to do/see. While we were having a quick drink, Nancy got up to go speak to a couple of the front women and at that time, Tim came through a side door and on into the music room for sound check. He was literally walking by us only a few feet away. I went to the window and took that above picture of his suv he had arrived in. We could hear a couple of the songs during sound check including ICTYW. Really really cool!! Still in a state of shock at this point.

After waiting for hours, the doors were finally opened and as I made my way thru it, I started to shake as I was able to walk right up to the foot of the stage. OMG, I was going to be right to the right of Timothy's feet. Right above me was a bench with 2 water bottles, a harmonica with the strap and another harmonica. I looked at Cathy and said "my gosh, his lips have been on those harmonicas." :hilarious: Strange that was my first thought. The next half hour had to be one of the longest of my life.

Right on time, the door right behind me (about 2 feet away) opened and there he & Jean were. He took off his coat and Jean was led off to the back of the room and Tim headed up the 3 stairs to the stage. He strapped on a guitar, walked to the microphone and immediately went into The Shadow and then finally came my tears. I was listening to solo Timothy songs live!!! Amazing amazing amazing!!!!

He never ever disappointed with the beautiful music, stories, dancing, joking! He was so gracious and thankful to be there. He is just a genuinely nice, polite guy. No one who was there could possibly dispute that. I keep using the word amazing but I just can't think of any other word to best describe the show or the experience for me.

The new songs that really stick out for me are definitely White Boy From Sacamento, Friday Night, One More Mile, Parachute & Secular Praise. I guess I would have to say those are the songs that really show how much Tim loves and appreciates the soulful sounds.

After the LWKUA, he walked down the stairs and since we still hadn't been told whether there would be a meet & greet, I thought the hell with it, I'm going for it. He was only a couple feet away from me and I said "Timothy, could you sign something for me?" He held up his finger and said "Just a minute." And then a couple of guys whisked him away out the side door! :brickwall: He was gone! D*mn! Oh well, needless to say I guess it's over between us because he lied to me and I just can't be in that kind of a relationship! :hilarious: Of course we all speculated that maybe he would be back in or that he wasn't aware that he would be taken away that fast (he would never lie to me, right?), etc.... who knows. I tried to no avail. So to all of you that wondered what I would say to him if I got a chance--there you have it! Not exactly what I had planned. It's ok---nothing could ruin that night in that intimate setting with the man that has meant so much to me for over 30 years, only a few feet away from me for an hour & a half singing those beautiful songs just for me. :smitten: Oh that's right, there were another 149 people in the room watching!

Sorry- I have rambled on.

The pictures in the next post....

I'm not sure I can add anymore details. LTL, TBF and Soda did a good job of filling you in on the particulars. Let me try to describe how this concert left me feeling.

First of all, needless to say, being close to the stage at any concert is a more rewarding experience than being farther away. We were right next to the stage in a very cozy, intimate room. Here's a picture of the room we were in from Schuba's site.

http://www.schubas.com/assets/root/images/music/music_photo.jpg

When Timothy came onstage and started playing, it didn't feel like I was watching Timothy B. Schmit of the Eagles, but rather a folk/blues singer doing his own thing. I was anxious to hear Friday Night live, and Timothy did not disappoint. He really moved (as much as he could on the small stage) to that song. Since I can't get the song out of my head I would have to say that was the highlight for me.

As the evening went on, I was overjoyed to see the quiet, overshadowed bass player for the Eagles making his own music, his own way. That stage was his and his alone, and by the end of the night I understood who Timothy is as a current solo artist and what kind of music he enjoys making. Love it or hate it, he has come into his own and found his own musical style. I for one, love it.

well i have just arrived home from Chicago and gotta get back to reality tommorow.. back to school UGH!

However last nights concerts FAR surpassed my expectations!. As was mentioned earlier I ended up front and center RIGHT in front of Timothy's microphone. Needless to say i was in heaven!

My favourites live (from the new album) were certainly Friday Night Secular Praise and defiantely White Boy from Sacramento. It was also neat to hear The Shadow (my fav song from FTF) and Keep on Tryin Live.

I truly feel this was a once in a lifetime opportunity and I am so glad I was able to be there to see it .. being front and center and less than 2 feet away from Timothy as he performed was a HUGE bonus! Being able to watch every aspect of Timothy's performance from his fingers moving on the guitar to tossing the hair, to the eyes, to even his throat going pinkish as he worked was something I never thought I'd see so close. A cute moment I believe it was after Secular Priase I found it breathtaking.. I said to Timothy :Timothy you are amazing" His response was soo cute he said to me "Thank you, so are you"

I would have loved to have met Timothy but I certainly had the night of my life regardless and I am so glad to have got to shared it with the various ladies.

I took nearly a full roll of film, we will see tomorow how many of them turn out!

Willie, that sucks that he didn't come back to sign something for you but it still must have been an amazing moment for you to get some kind of response from him to you and only you. I'm very proud of you for working up the courage to say something to him. I know that you were really nervous as to what to say to him if you got the chance. And btw, you phone takes some pretty great pictures.

TF, that's awesome that you got to be front and center. Must have been some experience for you (and the others that went) to be that close to him. If only we could have that kind of closeness at an Eagles concert (yeah right ) Timothy's response after you told him he's amazing is too cute.

I'm really enjoying reading about each of your experiences from the concert last night. Looks like you all had a wonderful time. Thanks again, to all that went, for the reviews and pics. I giggled with excitement as I read each one. From the looks of all of those pics, Timothy has still got it going on.

Herman Matthews and Chris Farmer especially were constantly referring to cheat sheets, teleprompters, or whatever they were. This makes me theorize that TBS was possibly under some pressure to do all of this quickly, and thusly makes me wonder if there is an upcoming Eagles project-related reason for it.

I've been on this thread so much today, just reliving the past 24 hours. As the minutes roll by, it is all the more clear to me just how spectacular an expierence it really was. Meeting others who clearly cheerish Timothy as much as we do. The overall feeling of joy just being able to hear/see him so intimately. The pleasure of hearing him the way he wants to be heard.

One thing we did leave out was how after several songs, he would point to his band members that had stood out on their parts, so we would applaud more for them. You could tell he felt proud of the people he choose to be on stage with him. You could see the friendship between Hank and him as they would exchange looks and smiles on parts well done.

I wasn't sure if he would be uneasy up there as a solo act, as he has stated in the past that he prefers the band setting. Well, he had NO issues at all. He was so in his element! Another thing I thought was funny, during ICTYW... during Eagles shows after the second verse he drops back and usually walks over to Joe or just hangs out at the back of the stage. He "tried" to do the same thing at Schubas. Pulling back, but realizing there was no place to go, as the stage was so small. Oh, and during LWKUA, he didn't have an instrument, and at one point, he started playing air bass, as if he had forgotton he didn't have a bass strapped on!:hilarious:

I keep remembering little things hear and there... it's a nice place to visit. :)

As promised, I will post a few more pics. They aren't as clear as the originals, but hope you'll enjoy them anyway. Oh, and TBF, your pics are great! I kept looking at them over and over today! Thank you!!!

Wow, I loved reading all of your accounts of your night, and seeing all of your great photos! I can't wait to see what happens in NYC on Wednesday...I am hoping and  that Kay and I get in! (The show unfortunately was sold out before I called on Saturday, so we are trying to land just two, please, of the 10 - 30 tickets they suspect they'll have available at the door. Please!)

Willie, I sensed so much of your awe and wonder from your post, it actually brought a tear to my eye as I read...honest! You deserved that night of your life!

Willie and LTL! Wow what fantastic pictures. It really shows how well Timothy looks when you get in close to him. I'm delighted you all had such a wonderful evening, and Willie, wonderful that you even managed to get a few words to him. I'd say he wouldn't have meant to leave you hanging over the signing thing, but it was possible he was whisked away by the powers that be.
WAIT till Laura sees these!!

Thanks for the indepth reviews & the gorgeous pics. I especially love reading the tidbits that you are remembering & adding. Glenn described Timothy as "a sweetheart of a guy" & your reviews certainly provide evidence of this.

A cute moment i believe it was after Secular priase I found it breathtaking.. and said to timothy :Timothy you are amazing" His response was soo cute he said to me "thank you, so are you"

I just wanted to say, I heard that, and wondered how you were able to stand there all composed afterwards! I would have fainted! It really was sweet! What a great moment for you that I know you'll always cheerish.

Something else I remembered... at the very beginning between the first two songs... Timothy welcomed us all by saying 'Welcome to my party" It was a very endearing moment and I must say with the small, intimate setting and all the new songs it sure felt like a party!

I printed this picture and took it with me to work today for "show and tell".
Right now it's my favorite. In fact, I need to get it over to the Schmit Sexiness thread unless it's already over there.
Willie, do you remember what song he was doing when you took it?

Was he singing songs when I took these pictures? I actually don't remember what songs he was singing for any of the pictures. Thanks tho! Glad you liked it. He is gorgeous and hot in it but I only wish the color was better and they weren't so fuzzy. But what should be expected with a cell phone?

Don't worry about the color and fuzziness - I think it looks "artistic"! :applause:

Is it bad when you wake up about 2:30 in the morning, thinking about something that was said at a concert 2 nights ago? And I kept telling myself that I have to remember to post it. Geez!

Anyways, I don't think anyone mentioned this yet. When Tim was thanking everyone for coming to his "party", a man yelled "Thank you-$20, what a bargain". Tim says, "is that how much it cost? I'm not getting any of it?" or something like that. Everyone cheered and agreed when the guy said that and laughed at Tim's answer.

Just thought I would share.

That was a great moment, TBF. I was telling Hubby that part yesterday when he said that Timothy must be making some money off of this tour.

Another great moment was when he was introducing Ella Jean. He told the story of how his wife often has to travel, and this one particular time she was in Hawaii for what seemed like a longer period of time than usual, and he was missing her so he wrote a song, "Because that's what I do", he shrugged cutely. That got some laughs from the crowd.

Both of those are great. I hope we get to share some moments like those. I told Kay it must seem like he's performing in your living room when it's an intimate setting like that. He seems so down-to-earth.

Glad everyone had such a great time! It sounds like it was unbelievable.

Mike, I bet that is exactly what he is thinking. That is Timothy's guitar tech from the Eagles and this solo tour, and at one point during the NYC show, Tim goes into a little discussion how his new band can never have too many bass players....even his guitar tech is now getting into the act! And so up on stage, Mr. Guitar Tech comes for a few songs in the limelight! And you could tell he was really into it!

Although it's the same size as a coaster, it's not the thickness of a usual paper coaster, rather just heavy paper. Since we didn't have tables at our venue, these were tucked into the chair railing trim on the wall in the area where the line formed before the show. I assume this is what Carol-Lynn had Timothy sign in LA.

Now I know I should of ambushed him at his car! :hilarious: Seriously, I just wouldn't feel right doing that. And doesn't he almost look petrified and scared here? :fear: It cracks me up once again to see how bundled up he is with the scarf and the coat buttoned to his chin. It really wasn't a bad night at all, fairly mild actually but the California boy was freezing. :hilarious:
