Rhonda and I are at the concert and in the front row right below the center mic. Rhonda says to let Willie know that we are close enough to see up his pant leg and that she could jump in his lap so there are definite happy naked dancing possibilities happening here! Lol

We just got home from the concert and it as AMAZING!! we were so close (front row, middle section first two seats on the left) we could literally see right up Tim's nose (fortunatly his nose hair isnt as long as his head hair). UNFORTUNATLY Tim is an alien or has aliens working for him because EVERY SINGLE PICTURE I took once the concert started was ERASED!!! I looked at them during the concert. I reviewed them directly AFTER the concert.. I had about 20, but when I got home and tried to get them on my computer, ALL but the pictures taken just BEFORE the concert were GONE!! Even the picture of the marquee is there! seriously FREAKY!!!
I'll try and do a better review tomorrow, tonight Im so bummed about the pics I could cry! The music was beautiful and Tim was amazing. Everything was great!!! I just wish I had the pictures to show you

:weep: I'm so sad about your pictures! What a bummer for you. I'm hoping they have miraculously reappeared overnight and will be on there this morning.

So glad you enjoyed the concert and had such great seats. Can't wait to hear all the details!!

I'm awaiting the answer to two very important questions~~~~ Were you able to see up his pant leg AND was there ever any naked dancing throughout the evening? Waiting patiently for the answers to those burning questions!!

Wake up Rhonda!!!!!

:blueblob: I knew you would love it (how could you not!) Don't worry about the pictures. I'd rather hear how the show made you feel. Don't leave anything out! I'm reliving Chicago...what a great night!

Seeing Tim live was so cool! I really have a much greater appreciation for his talents than I did before. If it was reasonable or even possible I would head south to San Francisco to see him there this weekend. However, right now I am warming up my car and about to make the 5 hour drive home so I can be at work by 2:30 today so I will have more to say about the concert after I get home late tonight :)

Okay, here's my review such as it is *G*

We’re home from last night’s Timothy B. Schmitt concert and it was wonderful. We’ve been having a cold snap here, so by the time the doors opened to the concert, it was about 32 degrees and windy so we were FROZEN!!! The auditorium was not filled to capacity! We were surprised about that. The Aladdin is an old movie theater on the NE side of Portland just over the Ross Island Bridge (for all ya’ll that know Portland at all) right off Powell. We thought parking might be an issue, but we found a lot that was open after 7pm for parking and grabbed it right off. We were SO FREAKIN LUCKY to find the two front row end seats in the middle section end to the left. We were literally sitting UNDER Tim. I kind of think we must have taken Jean’s seat or something because before the concert started we got a lot of looks from the stage hands and there was a lot of pointing and talking backstage in our direction. Cami and I decided that IF Tim came out and asked us PERSONALLY to move and then escorted us to our new seats, we MIGHT move, but we were pretty well duct taped to those seats. Fortunately, no one said anything to us, but all night Tim kept looking down at US! *G*
The opening act was a local girl named Ashley Flynn and she was incredible. Kind of a bluegrass folk singer and she told me afterward she would be playing at a club in SE called Crash every Thursday through the month of January. I purchased one of her CD’s and she signed it, INCLUDING the fact she’d be playing at CRASH all through the month of January.
The Set list I cant remember but there were some great highlights. Tim pretty much stuck to the same order as Expando with his new stuff. He started with One More Mile, great start. The crowd was pretty subdued. The theater was freezing and most everyone was bundled up trying to keep warm. Cami and were the most active in our row and we were just barely swaying in our seats. I blame the cold, I really hope Portlander’s aren’t so uptight that they just refuse to be moved, but I don’t think that’s it. There was a lot of Audience input during the concert (all good *G*) and Tim responded to it well, it’s just no one was MOVING. I cant remember the next few songs order, but Friday Night FINALLY got the house rocking. Still no one was dancing but there was a lot more then a polite spattering of applause. He played I Don’t Want to Hear Any More, a much more upbeat version and for his encore he played Love Will Keep US Alive and I Cant Tell You Why. Hank really ROCKED the house on Parachute and White Boy was just FUN!!
I was really looking forward to buying his Vinyl of Expando at the concert, but he had NO merch at all! I was bummed. A lady sitting next to us brought her Poco album and another lady sitting at the far end of the front row from us actually got a CD Signed!!! Tim’s road manager brought it to her from backstage.
Tim introduced his favorite Aunt who is from The Dalles (a town in Oregon right on the Colombia in the gorge) Jean came out before the show started and sat next to her. She was soon surrounded with several people saying hello. I thought about going over to say Hi, but it looked like she was pretty well occupied.
After the show, while I was waiting to buy one of Ashley’s CDs , the man in front of me said he was from the Dalles.. then a little older lady came and stood by him. His Aunt!! I asked her if she was Tim’s Aunt and she said she was I got to HUG her and say it was nice to meet her. I asked her if it was as cold in the Dalles as it was here and she said “HELL!! It’s a LOT colder there!!” LOL she was a funny lady. Very nice people! (I'm afraid the hug I got from her is the closest I’ll get to a hug from Tim! *G* Sorry Willie)
When we left, we pulled out of the parking lot behind The Aladdin and saw Tim’s cars waiting. No one was behind us so we sat in the drive way waiting to see if we’d see him come out. We had to move soon so we drove around the block and came back around just in time to see Tim’s big black SUV drive away. When we got home I immediately went to the computer to see the pictures, but they were GONE! I was devastated! Thing is, we were SO CLOSE and with the new camera and the great zoom, I had some really good pictures. I kept showing them to Cami and grinning. RIP my great pictures.
It was a really great evening and Cami and I decided that if we could afford it, we’d be headed south following the tour *G* Unfortunately, The Dalles is about as far as we could go LOL Maybe Auntie would put us up!
Thanks to Timothy for a wonderful and very memorable night!!!

PS (Oh yeah, there was no naked dancing, it was WAY too cold!! But we got a very sweet smile from Tim after the second encore song)

WOW--how pathetic is it that I'm glad you got to hug his aunt? :hilarious: That's cool that she was there and so nice to everyone.

Sounds like you had wonderful seats and that Tim made quite the impression on you guys. Isn't he just awesome & amazing? So so very glad that you guys had such a great time. Sure sounds like the audience was very subdued tho. How many would you say were there? The biggest crowd to date has only been 200 or 250, right? Lot to be said for standing gigs--no choice but to move to the music.

Glad there was no naked dancing but I am a wee bit disappointed that you just watched his SUV drive away without putting up a roadblock or having a fender bender to delay his departure. Come on girls!!!

Last thing---did you figure out what happened to the pictures? How they disappeared? That is really sad, especially since you said you got some good ones! Strange! Like to catch that phantom and give him a piece of my mind. You said something earlier about pics before the gig that were still there like the marquee--can we see them at least?

Glad you girls had a good time, but bummer about the pics. Maybe you could do like EV did with some of her pics and take the camera in to a specialty shop and maybe they could find them? Might be worth a try.

Thanks for the review - sorry it was so cold, but hey, Tim warmed ya up, right? ;) Cool that you got to meet his aunt to boot! And it's so true that seeing him live really does amp up your appreciation of him.

Sounds like the show was wonderful...how heartbreaking about your pictures though.

And Timmy added a Tweet afterwards:
"Just finished the Portland show ... Great audience ... Off to Seattle next 12:29 AM Dec 8th (http://twitter.com/TimothyBSchmit1/status/6458594458)from web"

I was just going to mention this! Don't do anything more with the memory card. Just bring it to a local computer shop, and explain what happened. I think there is an excellent chance the pix can be recovered.

Your review was wonderful... I too am wondering how big the venue was that it wasn't sold out? I'm glad you had such a great appreciation of his artistry!

The Aladdin is an old movie theater with a stage area and the first 5 or 6 rows of seats have been removed to allow for a dance floor. They had folding chairs arranged there and we were AT the stage. (I set my coffee down on the stage at one point before the concert). There's a balcony area as well. In total, their website says it holds about 74 people and I'd say it was about 2/3rds full with several people sitting above in the balcony!
I *think* it was cold in the theater because they had a door at the back of the stage that went out to the road where there was a small camper type vehicle and THATS where Tim and his crew hung out before the show. The door was constantly being opened and closed and there were two exit doors off to the sides and set back a ways and I suspect the smokers were standing out there. There was a lot of foot traffic at these doors. It's about 11 degrees this morning here but Monday night it was slightly warmer, only about 32 or so but the wind was pretty intense.

We know from the Chicago show that Timothy seems to get cold easily. He was all bundled up and talking about how cold it was, when really it was a very mild day. Of course, he is from Southern California.

I was thinking that also PM-I hope he didn't catch a chill and gets a cold.

Wow--small place, probably the smallest he has played so far isn't it. If it only holds 74, there had to only be about 50 there then? I wonder why they couldn't sell out a place that small. Ticky-are you the only Eagles fan in Portland? No wonder Irving hasn't brought them up that way yet! :hilarious: Something to be said for the standing only shows, at least people move. Sounds like a pretty subdued crowd for you guys.

Your post reminded me of something hubby said after I had gone to the Chicago show and told him that there were only about 150 there. He asked if I had thought about the fact that we had had more people in our backyard for the 2 bands at our son's graduation party than were at a member of the Eagles concert. :hilarious:

I think many singers....especially those who have survived their 20's....dress warmer than what the audience might think "normal". I believe it has something to do with the way the "cold" effects their voices.

I tried the retrieval software and talked to an expert. I was able to rescue EVERY PICTURE I have ever taken on this camera except the concert!!!! I have the pictures of before, and the pictures of after, but the pictures of Tim are just gone as if they never existed. I dont know how this is possible. Cami and I both saw the pictures while I was taking them.. I saw them save to the camera. Im very disappointed.
This is a picture I took before the concert started of Tim's mic and stand. This is where we were sitting. This was our view, no zoom.

I can't believe it about those photos. Bizarre. Perhaps there was a malfunciton while saving? Oh well, at least you tried!

Ticky--can I just say :weep:. How horrible and weird about those pics. Can anyone give you an explanation of how that happened? I mean, especially since you were able to retrieve every other picture you've ever taken. Really really a shame they are gone after seeing the view you had.

Ticky, what a bummer! That is just really wierd. I'm sorry for you. I know how disappointed I am when pictures don't turn out like you had hoped, but for them to just not even be there..........:-(

Ticky and Cami - Sorry I'm so late responding to this, but I am glad you two had such an awesome time at the show. That is a shame about your pictures, ticky, but, at least from the 'VIEW' you had, there should be some images etched in your brain for a very long time. :partytime:
