I see Eric Clapton is coming to Kansas City in March with special guest Roger Daltry. That seems an odd pick as a special guest :eyebrow: I just don't see those two together, somehow.

A bit odd...but the connection between "Who" and Clapton goes WAY BACK. I would have been less surprised from a vocal mix, hearing that Plantt and Clapton were going to do it. At least the two of them are heavy Blues.

Seemed like an honest and open interview. Clapton has mellowed a LOT over the past couple of decades. I'd recommend getting a copy of the Stone and reading it. A lot of mutual admiration, and justly so. They both are exceptional guitarists...of the two, as much as I really Love Clapton, Beck has it when it comes to expression. The things he does with that right hand of his is nothing short of freakish! But, I'd rather "listen" to Clapton. He expresses things in a totally different way yet a way that is still pretty dang amazing!

I do hope there is a lot of material produced with this Duo! I've caught a little at Crossroads in '04, Dallas. Amazing.

I notice Eric's grown his hair again... last time I saw him it was short.

This is as good a place as any to mention I once saw Jeff Beck's Ferrari in Park Lane in London. We knew it was his because the number plate (er - licence plate) was JBECK.

As per that interview, Beck is a big Car-Guy....like Billy Gibbons of ZZ-Top. I'd love to go through "his barn". Odd that I can't recall that Beck has ever put up a car on Barrett-Jackson's Auto Auction. Maybe he has and I just didn't see it.

Brings back visions of that Whitesnake video with Tawny Kitean slinking all over the top of David Coverdale's car doesn't it? Especially since I look so much like Tawny Kitean. :hilarious:

FP--you don't even want to know what I would do to Jimmy's car!

I like long hair, but I have to say, if it's between the concert pics and the one that tbs posted, I prefer the latter. I think it's just the way it's styled at the moment that is the problem, rather than the length. But hey. When you can play guitar that well - who cares? ;)

Actually, as I was looking at the pics I couldn't wait to comment on his hair! :hilarious: I like it much better short, but I agree with Troub. Maybe if it was styled differently?

Could we get pictures of each one, Willie, so we could compare in "The Carries It Off Best, Long Haired Rock Star Of All Time" contest?

Reviving this thread, though now in context with the last subject of conversation.

Eric Clapton....Verna and I are going to miss him by ONE FREAKIN' DAY when we fly to Las Vegas the first of March 2011.

He's playing MGM Grand the day after we have to fly back home <sigh>.

Love to watch Clapton play. He takes the Pentatonic Scales to a new sonic height!

I would have NO TROUBLE getting Verna to agree to sticking around. The problem is WORK that I can't get out of! Real Bummer!

Oh and Bonamassa: I might have actually posted this here before, but man, you gotta watch this guy just tear an acoustic completely up! I can't imagine ANYONE getting more out of a hollow wooden acoustic guitar! Except for the guy who won the 2004 Crossroads Guitar Festival Amateur contest. That guy was phenomenal too.
