I was just wondering what others thought about why Tim doesn't tour solo (even just in california) like Joe, Glenn and Don do?

I think it's that he is shy and is uncertain of being onstage all alone :)

I believe you are on the right track here. I recall reading something a while ago where he implied that there is safety in numbers. My impression is that he would not be completely comfortable being the center of attention for an entire show.

I've wondered about that, too. He has the artistic integrity to release a new album on his own - something his bandmates have not done in years - yet he does not even do the occasional show. I realize he is not as recognizable a name as some, but he is certainly a bigger name than a lot of the people I saw advertised on play at the casinos as I took my Glenn-tastic tour this summer. And even if it was just a small show every now and then...

But even though he chooses not to do shows, I admire that he gets his music out there for his fans.

The idea about him not liking the spotlight makes sense. He seems content to stay in the background most of the time.

I also agree that Tim doesn't seem to want to be front and center for an entire show. I think there is a lot of pressure on any singer to carry a solo show. You can't just be a singer, you have to be an entertainer as well. I remarked about this when we saw Glenn on his tour this summer. Glenn was much more focused and not as relaxed as a solo artist than when I've seen him perform with the Eagles. Even though I haven't seen Don perform solo, I have read several times that he is not as comfortable solo either.

It's lucky he decided to have his little band with him..didn't he say that just him and a guitar would be yawnworthy? Something like that.

I've noticed the focus is different too, being part of a band situation and then going solo is a lot of pressure..people expect a lot and they must miss each other's chemistry on stage.

I think the four main vocalists though have nailed the solo thing, although it still seems strange to me they do go solo..kind of scary in a way (in case it becomes permanent, I guess).

OMG - it was funny reading this thread. To think that it wasn't that long ago that Timothy had NEVER done a solo show. He sure did learn quickly, that's for sure!

I've always believed that Timothy is a quick study. When you consider how he jumped into the fray with Poco and Eagles with ease, to say nothing of the number of other bands he's played with along the way, says a lot about his adaptability and talent. I guess the 'solo' lesson just took a bit longer to catch on! But thank goodness it DID!

agree...maybe it was just a confidence thing...I think Expando was good for him in that he wrote all the songs and produced it..and maybe doing that CD gave him the confidence he needed to get out there alone...
