So do they get to entertain for something like this? If so, I wonder if they will do a number together.

No Willie. They will not be entertaining. At least not with music. Didn't you read the description:

Celebrity Fight Night XVI in Phoenix

It's Glenn and Reba who will be fighting :thud:. Ali and SugarRay and Marciano who will be in the audience for the fight.

Glenn doesn't do duets with women. He will perform by himself (as in 'booked to headline the entertainment'). I expect more photos. How great of him to help honour Muhammed Ali in this way (and to help fight Parkinson's Disease, of course).

Mike-you are just hilarious!!! Hey--I didn't know-I've never seen or even heard of this before.

FP--There's a first for everything and even tho I don't like country, I think Reba is pretty cool and that would be great if they sang a song together. Nothing the matter with that.

While it's not likely he'll sing with Reba, you never know. He has sung with women before (as we discussed here (https://www.eaglesonlinecentral.com/forum/showthread.php?t=933)). However, for some reason, he's never done those joint lead duets on an album distributed to the general public. Still, it's not inconceivable... just unlikely.

Some more info on the gala, excerpted from Chris Collins' Blog (http://chriscollinsblog.blogspot.com/2010/02/reba-to-host-celebrity-fight-night.html):

"The Eagles' Glenn Frey has been tapped to head up the musical entertainment at the gala. Reba will also perform, along with R&B great Sam Moore, former 'American Idol' finalist Michael Johns, and comedienne Melissa Peterman -- McEntire's co-star on the sitcom 'Reba.'"

He has sung backup for women. He has never, ever, done a proper duet with a woman. You say yourself those tracks you listed aren't duets.

....which is why I said it was unlikely. However, no one can argue that it is absolutely beyond the realm of even the slightest possibility.

I agree with you both, Soda and TBF.

FP, the problem with making such declarative, unqualified statements is that it gives the impression that you know for a fact that this is true AND that Glenn's past behavior is an absolute predictor of his future behavior. I'm sure that is not what you intended, but someone who reads this that doesn't know you could definitely misinterpret your comments.

I get the Phoenix paper every morning but don't remember reading anything about this. If something does come out I will let you know. It sounds like it would be open to the public. Maybe I need to start reading the sports pages a little closer.:)

OK, well, he certainly was not predictable at the Haiti Benefit, but this occasion appears to be the usual celebrity function where he would sing a couple of his most recognisable songs. I would love him to prove me wrong.

It seems it's open to the public but I bet that seats are pretty pricey. The cheapest tables are 15K according to their website (http://www.celebrityfightnight.org/default.aspx?key=sponsorships). If you want to inquire about individual seating, here's their contact form (http://www.celebrityfightnight.org/default.aspx?key=contact).

BTW, check out the great photo of Glenn I got from the homepage - too bad it's so small and Reba's blocking our view!

Oh, that is so nice! The man gets cooler by the minute. It's about time we had some more photos like that. Small though it is I think I will save it.
