He reminds me of Kurt Russell.

I do remember him in A Star Is Born. Great movie, but never thought him particularly hot. He is a fantastic song writer, but never thought his voice was great. Actually, I didn't think he could carry a tune in a bucket, but he's certainly made millions from it!

Oh I love Kris Kristofferson. He was hot back in the day but even now there is something about him :inlove:

I can see the Kurt Russell comparison in that picture. He looks MUCH better with a beard though.

tbs, I agree that he's still got it!

Kristofferson is mega handsome in person (at least into his 40's)... the allure of Kris is his background. He is a rhodes scholar, was a ranger (a captain in the army) and ace helicopter pilot... he was Red Adair's pilot (the famous oil fire fighter who used dynamite to blow out oil fires) and he gave it up to be a janitor at a recording studio so he could write songs.

Nobody would listen.. so he rented a chopper and landed it on Cash's lawn and told John "I'm gonna play you a couple of songs"... it started a lifelong friendship between the two.... one of the songs Kris played was "sunday mornin comin down".

He has written some of the most important songs of the last century and is one of the most literate, intelligent guys on the planet. So, in 71, he was the whole thing... he had hit songs, was handsome, accomplished in multiple fields and quietly confident. He is genuinely larger than life...

Side story--> he was married to Rita Coolidge. Rita Coolidge's sister was married to Booker T. Jones (Booker T and the MGs) Kris and Rita were living in Malibu and Willie Nelson came to visit. While hanging around, Booker was visiting and playing old classics with Willie and they had so much fun with it.. they decided to make a record which became Willie's greatest selling record "Stardust".... it won a bunch of awards and became a whole genre...

Well, I didn't even know he was playing until this morning, but I couldn't pass up the opportunity... I'm going to see Kris live on Wednesday night! (28th.) I'm so excited! He'll be playing at Cadogan Hall in London - you may recall that's where I saw Tim. It's a gorgeous, intimate venue. Availability was limited, so I'm in the gallery, but I'm right over the stage. So even if I mostly get to see his profile - I'll be very close!

Troub, have a ball seeing Kris! I saw him in February 2009, and what a show he puts on! He's such a dear, lovable guy too. Before the show, he stood out in the freezing cold and signed autographs. What a trooper!!

Carla, you've got me all excited with that autograph story! It would be wonderful if he did that on the 28th. The Stage Door is easily accessible and right next to the main entrance. I had luck with Tim at this venue, so here's hoping!

I haven't really had the opportunity to write up a proper review about this show, but I wanted to check in and tell you that I absolutely loved it. Just Kris, his guitar and harmonica - and a wealth of beautiful songs that tell stories. It was moving and funny, and just a real privilege to be there. My favourite was probably For The Good Times, but other standouts were The Pilgrim, Sunday Morning Comin' Down (which I love), and a gorgeous song from his latest album, Closer To The Bone. His voice was almost better than I'd expected - incredibly rich and deep. He really did tell stories, and I got totally absorbed in them, as did the rest of the audience. Our stage-side gallery seats were cool. The view was a little obscured at times - I had to lean to see him properly - but it was an interesting perspective, and it certainly didn't spoil the experience. We were very close to him.

My camera was playing up, so the only picture I got was this one. It at least shows you the viewpoint we had.

I am so thrilled that I jumped at that last-minute opportunity to see Kris! Once again, I feel really lucky.

Yes, he did, PM, and he sang those, too - they were all fantastic. Lovin' Her Was Easier was beautiful. He told a story about a friend of his who fell in love with a girl who worked at a fast food place. They changed the lyrics to "Lovin' her was greasier than anything I'll ever do again..." Very cute!

Yep, I think Kris certainly deserves to criticize certain issues, because he has actally been there.

EDIT:

I've yet to watch that particular video. I was referring to Kris's comments along the years about USA's "foreign policy". I don't have a clue what he says in this particular video. Looking forward to watching it at some point, when I can listen to it...

Well - I somehow missed this video when it was originally posted. I love Kris and think he's very talented, and that video was very touching. I also agree that he has a right to voice his opinion, however, in all due respect, I gotta disagree with him about this. Some of our finest leaders did not serve in the military.

Kris Kristofferson wrote a song (Me and Bobby Magee) and a line in it goes "Freedom's just another word for nothing else to lose." For some reason that line just stuck in my head. Love his songs.

Incidentally, I wonder if someone has ever counted every Kristofferson song that has the word "freedom" in the lyric!

You could do the same with the number of times Leonard Cohen uses the word 'beauty'. :?
