Koala had a surgery? I didn't know. Maybe I should send her a text message... yes I will do that.

Done... she wrote back and said it hurts so bad :-( But she's already at home.

She asked me to say Hello to you all :)

Today I have to go to the doctor so I've had enough pain medication for the weekend and the bandage can be also taken, then I have only 2 patches on the knee, more comfortable!
I tell you more later!

Thanks Stars!

I'm back from the doctor!
Now I have enough pain-medication to survive the weekend well.
Now I'm off work for two weeks but the doctor said it will probably take even longer until I can work again.
The operation has lasted a little bit more than 2 hours.
As expected the meniscus was torn, in addition the bone must to be roughened because the cartilage is completely missing with the Patella was also made something there she is too small and runs not around on the bone as it should be really!

Today I was again at the doctor, to see if everything is ok. I have still relatively strong pains, however, the doctor means this is normal, then I belive him!
I may also try to run without walking frame, but only at home, and only very briefly. The Problem is that I can‘t bend the knee and burden, we'll see if it works.
Early next week then the sutures are removed and decided how long I will be on sick leave again.

MikeA

Well Koala, I'm sure the doctors are going to want you to exercise your knee as much as you can, but I'm also sure they are not going to let you do anything that would damage it while it is healing. I wouldn't "rush it" if you know what I mean.

As for ME....if I stub my toe, I try to take a month's sick leave to let it heal <LOL>

But that is the problem, as soon as the doctor allows me to go without walking aids, I throw those things in the corner and go without it! Not well, however, so I'am! So yesterday I have gone at home without walking aids and the knee hurt more! So I'm going to use probably still at least one!

You know I was at the doctor, today. I'm again on sick leave for the next 14 days.
It’s look like that nothing has happened by my small accident! :)
But that the knee always unhooked, yesterday again! Ouch! It‘s of course not normal.
It has probably formed under the kneecap scar fabric, that's the reason why the knee unhooked, if I'm lucky it goes away with medication, if not ..... most probably an operation again! That's I don't want!!! But we will see!

The "knee is unhooked?" Not sure what that means but "hang in there." OK, that was sick. Should not be making puns about your injury....but no pun about it, I do hope that things straighten out for you with the LEAST amount of pain and inconvenience.

Koala
05-11-2010, 01:58 AM
Thanks guys!
Mike, I like your pun very suitable!
The knee is unhooked means the kneecap is not running properly and wobbles/unhook from time to time to the left or right side, and then the kneecap returns to the normal position,or the kneecap don't moves correct if I take a step,it always gives a loud crack! Which is pretty unpleasant!

The endless story continues!
I was once again at the doctor, I am once again on sick leave for two weeks! Slowly it's getting bored at home, with this 2 weeks I am since 6 weeks at home. After the two weeks I go to work again, but first I must always wear a bandage!
With the wobbles/unhook and pain in the knee I must live at the moment against of the heavy cartilage damage you can not really make something,
except you could splitting something in the knee :woah: and whether this helps is not sure !So there we want to wait first!

Koala, i know i'm really late on this but i just want to say that i too am glad that your surgery went well. I know what it's like to go through all of the physical therapy from knee surgery. Although, i know my surgery wasn't as extensive as yours was. Mine was done nearly 5 years ago for a torn meniscus on my left knee. The doctors and trainers did get me up and moving the very next day. I remember that first day of physical therapy was hell but you gotta do it. As painful as it was, everything that they made me do was for the best. You don't want to rush things too soon unless the doctors and YOU know you are ready. Take care of yourself and best of luck with the rehab on the knee, Koala.

Are you going back to work soon or do you need to wait and see if the doctor will let you go?The last two days were really good, only little pain! We want to try if it goes again, I go back to work next Monday, the first time since 8 weeks ( 2 weeks vacation and six weeks sick leave!)I think the first day becomes really exhausting!

Keep on with the therapy and get well so you can run after the Eagles when they come back over there:inlove:if I can't run http://www.smilies.4-user.de/include/Krank/smilie_krank_100.gif after the Eagles I take this:http://www.smilies.4-user.de/include/Fahrzeuge/auto_smilie_173.gifThe guys don't escape from me!:hilarious:

Hey koala, in 2002 I had to have 5 months off work due to a couple of operations and when I went back I was on crutches - It was great, all my work mates took real good care of me and wouldn't let me do anything!

I'm sure your's will be the same - Take it Easy!!

And now our Memorial Day holiday is over and we're back to normal.

And how's your knee today? And how are you feeling? Are you looking forward to going back to work, whenever that may be?

Today was my first working day after 8 weeks! It was exhausting but good, it's nice to be back at school!
The kids were really cute, they've been very pleased, that I'm back! I got even a small welcome back gift!

Today actually , I must have again give table tennis training but that I let rather make our trainee.
Now, I have again really great pain (the last days were so good, hardly till none pain) from the whole run, sit, kneel and crouch!
The knee is swollen but I already have an ice bandage around the knee and the swelling goes back slowly. I hope it's not every day so now!

Congrats on your first day back - how sweet that you got a gift and that the kids missed you so much!

Sorry to hear you've got some more pain again though - be careful - don't overdo it!

You are sure going through some trials and tribulations with that knee. I sure hope that SOON it really starts showing that it is healing!

Yeah, take it slowly and easily Koala! It all takes time to heal. But it will.

Thanks guys!

I think (hope) it becomes better with every day!

I was pleased very much about the gift, I never have counted on it! It was, by the way, a small teddybear!:)
