I feel like such a meanie but I laughed my butt off!! Of course I felt much better when I heard he was alright but seriously....how humiliating that must have been! LOL Your bandmates are watching you and WHAM....down you go. The entire audience is watching you....and WHAM....down you go. Worst of all.....millions of people are watching you and WHAAAAM.......down you go. Should've had a V8!

Woah - I guess I'm also a meanie cause I laughed too. But seriously, I am glad he wasn't injured.

Maleah
06-09-2009, 12:41 AM
lol! I think he ended up with a fractured nose and stitches in his lip.....but otherwise I heard he laughed backstaged (while wiping off blood lol) over Neil Patrick Harris' comment about how Bret's performance brought a whole new meaning to "headbanging" lol

First I seen of it was this morning on facebook through Maleah--And yes, I laughed also. My thought was tho, didn't they rehearse this and wouldn't he have known it was coming? Anyways, glad it wasn't to serious (I mean that stage could of crushed him had it gone all the way to the ground).

BTW---CC Deville still looking fine!!!

Maleah

He had to have known it was coming because all the rest of the band rushed back there (or so it seemed)..........it just seemed like he took his time....a little too much time. lol

Bret is going to be in a nearby town in August (30 miles away and a town I go to regularly)! I'd love to go, but somehow just can't see myself doing it. It's kinda like the tattoo thing. I want to but I can't! He's such a bad boy and all!

I do however, think he's very HS&G! This is an old pic, he's 48 now, but still looks very good!

http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y63/desperado74/Extras/bret-michaels-shirtless.jpg

I learned from watching The Apprentice that he's had juvenile diabetes since he was 6 years old and takes four insulin shots and 8 blood tests daily. And he recently had to have his appendix out.

He also wrote a song for Stevie Nicks for her Timepiece album back in the day.

Oooh that is a very drool worthy pic Brooke. I must say the man still looks good

TimothyBFan
04-22-2010, 11:15 AM
Oh yeah!!!! I remember reading about the diabetes way back and never could figure out how he lived thru all the drinking and drugs with it. Can you imagine how messed up his system must have been back in the 80s when he was doing all that stuff? Amazing that he survived!

I loved Poison back in the day (wow, what a HOT photo Brooke!) and watched Bret on all three seasons of VH1's Rock of Love. I haven't seen him on The Apprentice because I'm not into that show.

He wrote this song for Stevie Nicks:

Wonder if this has anything to do with the head trauma he suffered a few months ago at the Tony Awards.

Not sure if it makes a person more susceptible to a hemorrhage. I think he got hit in the forehead that time and this bleeding is around the brainstem in the back of the skull. But, when you have head trauma it jolts the brain inside the skull (like shaken baby syndrome).

Long term diabetes can also affect blood vessels.

Anyway, hope he continues to recover.

How awful! My prayers are with Bret. They just played "Every Rose Has Its Thorn" on the radio and I think I would be more upset if he went than when Michael Jackson went - he was so weird I expected him to go early anyway, but I just watched three seasons of Bret on Rock of Love and he seems like such a fun, friendly, "with it" guy (even if a bit oversexed). Sure hope he's OK - that he not only pulls through, but pulls through without suffering a lot of permanent damage.

Molly - I heard he was on blood thinners due to his appendectomy - could that have an effect?

Brooke
04-26-2010, 09:41 AM
Here's the latest on his condition. I also read that he is conscious and talking some, so that's good news. I sure hope he recovers without side effects.

Even though he's been such a bad boy, he does seem really nice and fun to be around.

Hmmm, wonder why they put him on blood thinners? Sounds like there's a lot we don't know about his actual condition/history. And, of course, that's as it should be.

Basically, sounds like he's had a stroke. A hemorrhagic stroke.

eaglesvet
04-27-2010, 09:39 AM
He's also a diabetic. I don't know why the blood thinners would be prescribed, though. If they were, they would definitely increase the chance of hemorrhage. I hope everything turns out OK.

Here's the latest. The doctor here says it's a bit dire since the family nor the doctors have said anything. There is (of course) a commercial first.

:yay: for Bret! I hope this is true. It sounds very similar to what happened to my s/n/l and she has pretty well made a full recovery. Amazingly. (Although her aneurysm was in the front of her brain.)

I wonder why they can't find the source of the bleeding? Strange.

But does anybody else find it disturbing that the article says, “We are working to reschedule dates from now until May 21..." and yet it also says, While the rocker/reality TV star still has slow and slurred speech, doctors are now saying with months of rehabilitation Michaels should make a full recovery.

I had heard that he was in a Phoenix Hospital (Barrow Neurological Institute) but didn't think they had the right information. In today's Phoenix paper it said he lives in Scottsdale, Az so it made more sense if he was at home when he bacame ill for him to be in Arizona. I thought he lived in California but I guess I shouldn't be surprised because Alice Cooper lives here too. All rock stars don't live in California.

"It was a combination of Bret's fight to stay conscious during the hemorrhage and get to the emergency room and the immediate medical attention provided by our staff at Barrow that enabled us to stabilize his condition," Zabramski said.

Because he lives in Arizona he is on the news and in the newspaper a lot. The weekend before his surgery, he was at the big car auction in the Valley. He sold one of his cars there. He seemed to be in good spirits and wasn't worried about the operation. I wish him well and hope this will finally put an end to all of his health problems.

He seemed to be in good spirits and wasn't worried about the operation. I wish him well and hope this will finally put an end to all of his health problems.

The car auction he was at was the Barret-Jackson auction. I watch almost all 40 hours of it and saw the part that involved Bret Michaels. He was a Celeb there to raise money via a Charity Vehicle for the Children's Diabetes Foundation. After the auction was over, they announced that Bret was there even though he was going into surgery the next day....or maybe they said Monday.

Now, with that said, he could have had another car in the auction belonging to him. The one in the Charity auction was a custom that was donated by the builder to the cause....not personally owned by Bret.

AzEaglesFan
01-28-2011, 02:03 AM
The article in the paper had his picture next to the car being sold and it read like it was his personal car. Seems like it was a Camero.

MikeA

I did a little research and found the following link

http://www.insideline.com/chevrolet/camaro/bret-michaels-chevrolet-camaro-2012-ford-boss-mustang-shine-at-barrett-jackson-auction.html

Bret did indeed sell a 1969 Mustang that was his personal vehicle and it brought him $220,000 (along with a signed guitar). But he was also on the block helping to raise money with the auction of another Mustang...a 2012 Laguna Seca Boss 302 one-off neverbe another one in 2012 in that color combo that brought $450,000 for Juvenile Diabetes Foundation.

So he was involved in two separate auctions. I must have missed the one for his personal car but did catch the one for the Boss 302.

There was a standard statement made by Ford Motor Co before the auction....all money over and above MSRP would go to the Diabetes Foundation. In reality, the Charity probably goten north of $400k but not the entire $450K even though Barret-Jackson waived all consigners fees and buyer's fees. Those fees are significant....like 8% of the final selling price is paid by the seller and 10% is paid by the buyer. Barret-Jackson is not losing money on these auctions <LOL>

Actually, with megabuck auction results aside, I'm pretty excited about the reintroduction of the "Boss" Mustangs. Back in the late 60's, they were the about the only Muscle Car that I could realistically think about owning. The little 302 cubic inch engine was one screaming motor and those Mustangs were incredible all-around performance cars. Alas, now as back then, they just aren't practical enough for me to consider.

I like seeing the body styles of Camero and Mustang making a very successful comeback. Even Chrysler has made a shot at the market with the Chargers though they haven't really gone "retro" with their body styling.
