The waters are receding, but a lot of damage has been done. Here's an article talking about some of the losses to musicians in Nashville:

The damage from the flooding is heartbreaking. My family spent four wonderful days on vacation in Nashville last summer, touring the Country Music Hall of Fame, the Ryman and the Grand Old Opry, and it is awful to see that so many of those venues flooded. We stayed in the Opryland Hotel and it is so hard to see chairs floating in the mess that used to be that beautiful lobby. My heart goes out to every musician in Nashville.

It's not just about musicians who have lost equipment. There are countless families who have been displaced by the flooding. Some people lost their lives. Several counties have been declared disaster areas.

As a local (and native Tennessean) I just wanted to point out that there is more to the story than flooded landmarks and lost musical equipment. Having lived here all my life, I've never seen anything like it. Unfortunately this story has not received the national attention it deserves due to the disaster in the Gulf and the Times Square incident. There are still people out there who have no idea what has happened or how bad it is. Fortunately the one night it received attention last week (Anderson Cooper's broadcast) the focus was on the people. It's going to be a long road back for some of them.

You are absolutely right, tbsfan. Countless families have lost everything, and this really hasn't gotten the press it should.

I'm so sorry for all the Tennesseans in trouble here.

It seems like we are having way too many natural disasters these days. Earthquakes, floods and tornadoes. What next? I guess hurricane season is next. :-(

How sad this is. My heart goes out to all the people of Tennessee that are affected by this disaster.

I certainly didn't mean to imply just the musicians were affected - the article simply served as a way to start the topic. My heart breaks for the people who have lost their homes. I can't imagine what that must be like.

This is a horrible situation. It's unbelieveable the damage weather can cause.

BTW, Hubby proposed to me 10 years ago on Memorial Day weekend at the Opryland Hotel so it is difficult to watch the video of the damage to it.

The Red Cross (http://www.redcross.org/) seems to be doing a lot of good work there, if anyone would like to send a little money.

This is nice. I've been a big fan since long before his TV show and this makes me like him even more.
