I don't believe it!

Underdogs Ireland have beaten Australia 15 - 6!

Well done to Ireland and of course commiserations to a gallant Australian team.

I had a feeling they would pull something out of the bag. You could tell how fired up the Irish side were - especially Brian O'Driscoll. It's his last World Cup, so he wanted to leave a mark! I was on the edge of my seat, cheering them on. So, so happy that they won. A truly courageous performance. I hope England show the same intensity, grit and passion tomorrow.

Thanks, Lis - I'm relieved that we got a win today. It should have been a given against Georgia, but after England's last performance, I was a bit nervous! Anyway, we had some discipline issues, but overall, we did fairly well. I do worry about how we will compete with teams of a higher level if we don't improve, but for today, we secured a win with a big points margin. I'm not going to be too critical. :)

Switching to NFL, I would have loved to have seen the Colts and the Cardinals get wins today. Unfortunately that didn't happen, although the Cards only lost by a single point. I feel for the Colts at the moment - I really hope they can get a win to get some confidence back, but they're obviously having a difficult time. Got my fingers crossed that Peyton makes a good and full recovery after his neck surgery. It looks like he will be out for a while yet, though.

Well its been a great week for Sport if you're from Dublin (a Dub). The Dublin senior Gaelic football team made it into their first All Ireland final in years, against the old enemy Kerry. Dublin and Kerry between them have won more All Irelands than the other 32 county teams put together. Tickets for the event were retailing at over €1000 each coming up to Sunday's final.

The match was excellent, with the lead changing 5 times over the course, and with 6 minutes to go Kerry were starting to inch away. Suddenly Dublin got a goal (3 points) and another point to draw level. At fulltime the teams were level and remained so for a minute and a half of the injury 2 mins extra. The Dublin were awarded a free kick 'in'. They pushed all their men forward and got their keeper up to take the free. the whole city was silent as he kicked the ball.................................

............................... over the bar!!!!! The whistle blew just at the restart, and Dublin won the Sam Maguire cup for the first time in 16 years.

The city has been celebrating since, the kids have forgotten what homework is and there was a civic reception attended by 40,000 people (myself and Chris included) last night.

Here's a few pics of the revelry!

Dublin Captain Bryan Cullen lifts the cup.

The cup (again). This is what its all about!

I may have gotten my PhD at Purdue but I did my undergrad at Texas A&M University and I'll always be a Texas Aggie in my heart. A Thanksgiving tradition in our family has always been watching Texas A&M play their longstanding rival University of Texas on the football field.

Sadly, this year is the last time these two teams will face each other as members of the same conference. Texas A&M has changed conferences and any games played against UT would be essentially exhibition games. At this point, the next TAMU/UT game might not be until 2019!

So, tonight of all nights, I hope with all my heart that the Aggies will SAW VARSITY'S HORNS OFF and end this rivalry victorious!

I'm happy again because Liverpool knocked their great rivals Man Utd out of the FA Cup 2-1. They are also in the Carling Cup final after beating Man City. So it's possible that Liverpool could win two trophies while all Man Utd have left are the actual premiership & the Europa League (and I can't see them winning that).

It's been a pretty disappointing season overall but....

I really don't like either team...but I guess it would be nice for the people here in DC to have at least one team that does well. I'm still going shopping this evening decked out in Black and Gold Pens attire, so...

I'm rooting for the Caps because I cannot root for any Boston team. More worried about my Rangers tomorrow though.

I'm with ya on team from Boston. Well, except for the Red Sox. My second fave baseball team. Yes...the Rangers have endangered themselves. It'll be interesting to see how they do against a team that has nothing to lose.

Latest score is 1-0 to Chelsea unfortunately but it is not too late. Hopefully Liverpool will make a comeback.m

No; 2 -1. Congratulations to them on getting to the Final. They will be in the Europa League because they won the Carling Cup.

I know, that was a heck of a game. For them to score with 6 seconds left, then draw the penalty before the end of the game to get a power play in OT. The Caps had a bad few minutes there.

I am not happy the way this round is going...I'm rooting for Devils vs. Coyotes but I don't think it's gonna happen.

oh yeah, for some reason I really hate the Rangers...Devils don't bother me so much...don't know why....I'd really love to see Phoenix win the cup...the team no one wants!

I can't believe the finals don't start til 5/30 and the earliest the cup can be won is 6/6...such a long playoff season...I'm ready to see my Sabres...Oct. seems so far off.:sigh:

Well, the Rangers and Devils still have at least two games to go yet, right? So the 30th makes sense. Kinda bummed that the Coyotes lost. Wonder who I can jinx next?

My rugby union team, Harlequins, won the Aviva Premiership today for the very first time. The club is 140 years old. It was a fantastic game and I am just ecstatic. They played incredibly well all season and totally deserve this victory! LOVE THE QUINS! A special mention to Chris Robshaw. He is my age (26) and he has captained both Harlequins and England to recent victory. He has a great head on his shoulders.
