We have a place to post something funny and to post something sad, but no place to post those uplifting tales we come into contact with - so I made this thread. I'll start us off with little Faith the dog:

That is a very inspiring video. If only everyone could follow these rules, the world would be a much happier place!

How wonderful that these dogs were set free! The video choked me up, I must admit!

Yes! They are such beautiful animals. It's so wrong that they be held in such conditions. I'm so glad they are being cared for now.

Now THAT is an uplifting video! Do we have any idea what kind of research they were being used for?

Just in reading what you guys have put, I will not watch the video, I just can't do it when it comes to animals being abused. But sounds like it had a happy ending, thank goodness!!

I watched, and still cried like a baby!! So wonderful, I want them all!!! I lost it when they were to afraid to come out of their cages and then had so much trouble walking in the grass. Poor things, I can't imagine how they lived. I just don't get how anyone doing "research" can actually do it on animals. So sad.

On the subject....kinda- I've always dropped off supplies to local shelters or gave money periodically but about 6 months ago, I decided to finally pick an animal charity and give a monthly donation. After researching, I picked ASPCA, even tho I can't watch their d*mn comercials (I look away as soon as I hear the music playing). I told hubby awhile back, it's the only automatic debit out of our checking account that has ever made me smile when I see it coming out every month. I can't actually adopt them all but I sure will try to help them all.

No company name is given as far as I can tell, but here is a blurb from the story in the Huffington Post (http://us.lrd.yahoo.com/_ylt=A2KJh8vrFNlOpgMA1iASH9EA;_ylu=X3oDMTFkMmFzbGI wBG1pdANCbG9nIEJvZHkEcG9zAzQEc2VjA01lZGlhQmxvZ0JvZ HlBc3NlbWJseQ--;_ylg=X3oDMTNlMzNybnF1BGludGwDdXMEbGFuZwNlbi11cwRw c3RhaWQDOTBkZjUxZDAtNGVkZi0zMTQwLTg0NjMtZjRlZjI1Nz U2NzE1BHBzdGNhdANvcmlnaW5hbHN8dGhlc2lkZXNob3cEcHQD c3RvcnlwYWdlBHRlc3QD;_ylv=0/SIG=1412mjot9/EXP=1324059115/**http%3A//www.huffingtonpost.com/2011/11/28/lab-raised-beagles-go-out_n_1116446.html%3Fncid=edlinkusaolp00000003):

According to the Beagle Freedom Project's website (http://www.beaglefreedomproject.org/about.php), beagles are the breed of choice for lab testing of pharmaceutical, household, and cosmetic products due to their "friendly, docile, trusting, forgiving, people-pleasing personalities," their ability to adapt to life in a cage and the fact that they are relatively inexpensive to feed.

So basically they take advantage of all of their good traits! Grrrrr..... :-x

You know, sometimes I wonder, if I could see what goes on in the whole world - every individual thing - would it make me smile or cry?

I was trying to answer PM's question about the type of research being done on the dogs before they were freed - it was most likely a pharmaceutical, household, or cosmetic product.

Ah yeah, I know that Soda! My 'Huh?' was just disbelief that the dogs were chosen for their benign qualities.

They may be docile and people-pleasing, but a beagle naturally has a very strong drive to explore (following scents) - makes it even more devastating to think of them being caged. Unfortunately we have had a similar problem down here - hard to believe it could really happen in NZ :weep:

AWWWW! I LOVE Beagles.... I miss my old man....... Shiloh was the best pet I've ever had and ever will have... Makes me a bit sad to think of him as I watched those. My Boxers are great dogs but not the loving type and certaintly not always there for me like Shiloh was. Shiloh was the thing that kept me happy. When he died, a part of me went with him. I'm so glad to see those poor beagles freed. They are my favorite breed by far. Beagles are amazing. We still have 3 other beagles and they are so loving but not like Shiloh. He was one of a kind.

I hate those labs. Beagles are the sweetest dogs in the world and are so good natured. I'd like to run a few tests on those lab people and then we'll see how they like it. ;)
