Last Christmas season my clock radio woke me up to this song. I had never heard it before so I looked it up and quickly downloaded it. I just love it. Alison Krauss has a beautiful voice and it has a great sax solo so you know I would!

Can I put this one in here? It isn't finished. But I have the verses and most of the chorus. I am going to try to work in a register change and kick it up an octave or so for the sendoff and see what it sounds like there

O Holy Night is my favorite Christmas carol, a perfect blend of musical and lyrical beauty that has amazing power. If done right, it not only gives me chills, it moves me to tears. A thrill of hope- the weary world rejoices - for yonder breaks a new and glorious morn...

That girl is WOW! What an amazing voice! I think she must be listening to Celine Dion's version in her headphones because the arrangement is the same down to the "oohs", vocal runs, how long she holds notes, and the use of the French "Noel" at the end (and of course the choral part around 2:15). And here is that version, which is one of my favorites:

My family had this song on an 8-track back in the late 70s. I remember loving it as a child but our 8-track player gave up the ghost in 1987 and by then, the album was out of print. Twenty years later, I found the song on a CD and snapped it up right away. Now, in 2010, it can be found on YouTube!

Nancy, you gave me the idea to look on Youtube for a song from an album I remember listening to all the time as a little girl. I found the whole album! Mom probably bought it for a dollar or less back then, but it holds such fond memories for me! Here's the song I went looking for...

Yes it is. My Mom had a Dean Martin Christmas album when I was a kid and I always loved the songs on it. That's why I posted Marshmellow World a couple days ago. Thanks to the internet and Amazon I found the cd a couple years ago.

When my kids were little I bought a John Denver Christmas album and they love to hear it to this day, so traditions go on. :-)

Here's their favorite from that album, Please Daddy ( Don't Get Drunk This Christmas). They would sing along and roll with laughter. Memories! This is a live version.

My goodness this thread has really filled up over the last few days or so. I've really enjoyed skimming through all those wonderful songs and carols. I must say, I tend to break Christmas music down into 'Carols' which have a religious theme and 'Songs' which are the more secular ones, though I suppose 'Mary's Boychild' would fit both categories!
For the record, my favourite Christmas Carol, like Soda's is 'Oh Holy Night' and my favourite song is 'Fairytale of New York'

I'm not going to have much Border time over the next few weeks as Hubby is now off until after Christmas and the kiddies will be off from midweek! So in case I don't get a chance again, I hope everybody here has a very happy, joyful, safe and peaceful Christmas.
