I can't believe no one has started this thread yet.

My thoughts are with everyone there! So very sad. They are still pulling people from the rubbish alive thankfully.

This link has several links to different stories regarding the earthquake.

I meant to yesterday, then forgot as my daughters got me busy with all sorts of things.

Bad enough they had one a little while ago, and now this 2nd one. Terrible for them. :-(

Thankfully my Kiwi friend from Christchurch, who now lives in London, had all good news from her family. Her parents house was damaged in the last quake and has to be pulled down, but is in an even worse state now after this latest one. She was still trying to raise a few of her friends though through texting. One of her friends took 6 hours to drive 16K home.

I know a lot of our specialist fire and rescue people have gone out to help in any way they can. My thoughts go out to everyone there.

My thoughts and prayers go out to all affected by this tragedy. Christchurch holds a special place in many of our hearts after watching the Eagles concert from there. My condolences to all who have lost loved ones.

Same here. I wouldn't have even knew where it was had I not known about the Eagles playing there and their wonderful dvd.

So sad.

I'll just echo what everyone else has said here. My heart goes out to all the people of New Zealand who are affected by the devastation. As so many people around the world know, it will take years to rebuild, but the human spirit will prevail.

There was an earthquake last year which was actually stronger but caused far less damage & no loss of life. This one came in the middle of the day when the city was full of people.

Six people have been arrested for looting. I have no words to describe such actions. They robbed the home of one victim, a TV producer.

I agree FP. Why must people be like that?

With all of you, my thoughts go out to the loved ones of those lost in this terrible earthquake.

Thank you all for your thoughts for us. While my friends and family are safe, every hour brings more heartbreaking news of families right around New Zealand who have lost loved ones or are still waiting to find them.

New Zealand has been very moved by so many good wishes and prayers and we are so grateful for all the help we have received from right around the world.
