I just found this fan review....sadly no pics :-(

There seems to be some confusion on the order of the setlist there. :eyebrow:

OK FP I'll bite......Why?

Freypower
03-10-2011, 06:16 PM
Because the writer says they started the show sitting down (mentioning BOML, TITTL) but then goes on to talk about HC,PEF, ICTYW. The impression given is that they started with the acoustic set.

tequila girl

Does it really matter?.....it's just one fans view of the show

Freypower

I didnt' say it did matter but I think it's worth commenting if the setlist has been changed around to make it more suitable for Chinese audiences. There is no mention of ANY of the LROOE songs, for example.

Well maybe the guy (i'm assuming) that wrote this blog was just relating his experience to friends....I don't really know what a 'Blog' is or how it works, he says:

"Hotel California came up pretty early on in the set. The Long Road Out Of Eden tour has been going for a few years now, so I am guessing the set has been arranged long ago and not tailored to the Chinese or Asian audiences, otherwise I think they’d save it for the encore. Surprisingly though, there wasn’t a mass exodus after the song had ended!"

Maybe TLROOE isn't that familiar to them? I don't know........but imo it was nice just to read anything about the concert

Thanks for the posting of the review, TG! I love reading fan impressions of the concert and I appreciate the trouble you have taken to find and post the review.

Like FP, I noted the fact that the blog seemed a bit off about the setlist, and wondered how much the setlist has actually been changed. I too am curious about such things and comment upon them. That is hardly unusual; indeed, it is quite natural to do so. Just because one notes such things doesn't mean one didn't enjoy the review. I know I did.

Possibly the writer just didn't remember the setlist order very well - I know I struggled!! :brickwall:

Nice to read some reviews. I had to laugh at them describing it as "a jolly good show".

I got the impression this concert and audience had quite a different "feeling" to Bangkok - the review of Bangkok made it sound like that concert rocked :headbang:

:partytime:Yeah, great find Carole  The reviews from the Asian leg aren't quite as plentiful as from the US and European ones IMHO, though I haven't been on here quite as much of late. So anything is great to read! I also miss the 'personal' reviews as we have no Borderers attending these gigs. Of course these are the 'real' reviews.

9th March was Shanghai not Beijing....i'm getting confused now! :spin: haha

The 2010 is probably a mistake (I accidentally dated my syllabi this semester 2010 so I know how that is). However, the upload date makes me think these are indeed from the Shanghai show.

Thanks for finding them though - they're great!

StephUK

Where do you see 2010? on each photo is says it was taken on 9 March 2011.
I apologise - the show was not Beijing, it was indeed Shanghai.

Originally on the Eagles official site they had Beiging listed as the 9th & Shanghai as the 12th & I copied that onto my pc, but forget to update it when it was changed.
Sorry for causing confusion.:weep:Please forgive me.

lol! I think I might be able to bring myself - with great difficulty, of course - to forgive you for this terrible sin. ;)

The "2010" is on the watermark but I'm betting that's a mistake on the part of the uploader.

Again, these photos are awesome. Thanks for finding them! I'll move them to the Shanghai thread and all will be well! lol

What I can't work out is what happened to the really pale lilac shirt I saw. I haven't seen it since in any photos & I also haven't seen the grey one I saw.

Troubadour
03-12-2011, 07:22 PM
Didn't he give the lilac one to someone at a show? (Of course, it's likely he has more! But FP's post just reminded me about that...)

sodascouts
03-12-2011, 07:44 PM
He gave the purple one away at a show, but he got another one, to my delight. ;) I'm sure the other shirts are just hanging in the closet waiting for him to grab them for the night's show. I wonder how they decide what to wear? With the suits that wasn't much of a challenge but now they actually have options.

tequila girl

sodascouts
03-12-2011, 07:48 PM
lol! Well, the suits maybe, but recently there has been enough (although minimal) variance to make me think that's not the case.

I'll be MORE than happy to be proven wrong though!

Thanks to all of you for finding these pics. Love 'em as always. I also love that purple shirt. It could be the lighting, but it looks like it has a bit more of a pinkish hue than the one he gave away. Joe seems to be wearing some color these days. Now, we gotta get the memo to Tim and Don! I love color!!!

Just one question......WHY IS GLENN'S HAND WRAPPED????

While I don't know this for sure, it seems a fairly safe bet that wrapping his wrist(s) helps alleviate pain caused by his rheumatoid arthritis (http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmedhealth/PMH0001467/). I imagine it doesn't rid him of the pain entirely, though, poor guy. If memory serves, he has been doing this for a couple of years now (someone correct me if I'm wrong about that).

03-13-2011, 08:12 PM
Those pictures are great, Steph. I agree they could both be in the caption thread. I may just do that. It funny because there is a similar picture from Beijing. I'm wondering what song that is.

I agree with Soda about the wraps on Glenn's wrists possibly being to help his arthritis. But he also has a bandage on his left hand again that has appeared quite a bit for the past several months. I have no idea what that's for, but while we're speculating, it may be to prevent blisters or calluses from the guitar. But it's hard to say. I think he was wearing a bandage as early as last fall if my memory serves me correctly.

The one I saw was a much paler colour than the othe purple shirts. I have not seen it worn since. The same thing happened back in 2004; one night I saw a blue & black striped shirt & then a pink & gold striped shirt; I never saw either of those again either. At least I have photographic evidence of last year's shirts.

I note that Glenn is also sporting wrist supports...maybe an indicator of carpel tunnel syndrome (which I have it in both hands/wrists). Depending on the level of pain I either wear wrist supports or a hand/wrist brace. A brace would make it impossible for him to play but I can see where the repetitive motion of playing could result in the need for it. Just a long-shot speculation on my part.

He Who Must Be Obeyed

I assume you're talking about Glenn. I have to say, if he truly had that attitude, he would be a huge jerk and absolutely unendurable to be around for more than five minutes!

I assume you're talking about Glenn. I have to say, if he truly had that attitude, he would be a huge jerk and absolutely unendurable to be around for more than five minutes!

The reference is to H. Rider Haggard's book She:

However, unlike the "benign" Victoria, the question of female authority is realised to the extreme in the figure of She-who-must-be-obeyed, whose autonomous will seemingly embodies Victorian anti-feminist fears of New Women desiring 'absolute personal independence coupled with supreme power over men'.[73] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/She:_A_History_of_Adventure#cite_note-72) Haggard constantly emphasises this anxiety over female authority in She, so that even the rationally minded and misogynistic Holly, who has put his "heart away from such vanity as woman's loveliness", ultimately falls upon his knees and worships Ayesha "as never woman was worshipped".[74] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/She:_A_History_of_Adventure#cite_note-73) Similarly, although the masculine and chivalric Leo is determined to reject Ayesha for killing the devoted native girl Ustane, he too quickly falls under her will. In fact, Ayesha's absolute command over the male sex is one of the most startling and unnerving aspects of the story.[75] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/She:_A_History_of_Adventure#cite_note-74)

I thought the reference was more widely known than it apparently is. It is well known in Britain through the TV series Rumpole of the Bailey where the main character, a lawyer, refers to his wife as She Who Must Be Obeyed.

I wasn't being entirely serious; it's just the 'In Charge' thing I meant.

sodascouts
03-16-2011, 10:24 PM
Yes, I'm afraid I'm unfamiliar with the reference, obviously.

"In Charge" is all well and good but it must stop short of "unreasonable, overbearing a-hole who needs to boss people around to prove he's the 'big man.'" Luckily I believe Glenn isn't the type of man that insists on having his way all the time. Those kind of men have psychological issues, lol.

Good find, Koala, and thanks for the post. While it's more about the impressions of the fans who were there as opposed to a genuine 'review' (and no mention of the set list), it's good to know how well-received our boys are over there. I found the following line particularly humorous .. we already know their live performances are a parallel to the 'original production'!

In order to let the Chinese audience listen to purely raw Eagles, the band performed almost completely according to the original production.

Other than classic hits such as "Hotel California," and "Desperado," fans also were treated to solo hits from band members such as "Boys Of Summer," "Life In The Fast Lane," and "Dirty Laundry."
