Give me a CD in my hand anytime. I like to know who wrote the song and who plays on it. Love the pictures, also all the dedications. and the people they thank that made it all possible.

Im lovin' the whole new album thing too! but personally, I download the music from Itunes or Amazon and write it to my external Hard Drive, then, if it's available, I buy the vinyl album. It there's no vinyl available. I'll just buy the CD and rip it to my HD. The Vinyls have such better art work and liner notes. Im really hoping more artists start putting vinyls out there (Im also hoping Santa brings me a digital record player! *G* I have an analog one I'll be passing down to the next generation this year)

I was also very heartened to hear Joe say he thought The Eagles had at least one more album in them *G* YAY!!

It sounds like it's really going to happen doesn't it? I can not be blasé about this! Just to hear Joe play and sing new material. Material that is bound to be the so-far culmination of over 50 years of musicology. It's sort of mind boggling!

And consider the tours if and when Eagles release yet another platter! Think of the changes in the set lists <LOL>

AND he said, and I quote "It rocks" oh yeah baby!!!

Joe's said in the past that he would tour to support his new cd too, wonder when he'd have time to do that. Eagles seem like they're gonna be pretty busy for a while yet. Nice problem to have, I guess.

I subscribe to that site (obviously they are guitar makers, that's why! :D) and I saw that. Made me very happy to read that. I pray that he does a tour and comes to Central IL.. I'll be there (probably front row) if so. I'm crossing my fingers.

While it is cool that this story is showing up everywhere, I should say that since all the stories are echoing what Joe told Undercover (his interview with them is duly credited) and have no additional information, the fact that there are a lot of repeats of the same story doesn't lend it any more credence than it already had in the first place.

Still, I feel good about a new album based on the original interview which we saw.

Obviously these are reiterations of the same news, the impressive thing that it is newsworthy and there's considerable anticipation for new material from Joe, enough that it's showing up "everywhere". After almost 20 years of very little, it's great. The thing I'm most glad to hear is he's making this because he "wants to, not because he has to". Thankful that the spirits that are still stirring, and that he has something to say to us.

ITA about it being a very good sign that others are finding the Undercovers interview of Joe's newsworthy enough to make it worth repeating. Seems like there may be a bit of excitement in the air. Thanks PM, I'm having one of those complicated "character building" times in my life apparently, not a lot's going my way. When I'm in the midst of a low spot, I tend to look to Joe's music for relaxation and reaffimation, in a sense. I know that sounds stupid, but I've done it so long, I guess it's a habit. And not one I'm likely to quit! It means a lot to me. And yet again, Joe knows what I need, and what I need now is some new Joe, so Thanks Joe! I still can't wait. And I'm trying to not hope about a Joe or Eagles tour yet....but that would be ok too, if I have to sell Lefty for a ticket. (Don't ask....)

02-23-2011, 12:13 PM
Well - I don't think anyone in the Eagles' organization has objections to any of the guys working on solo projects. But I do think the general conscensus is that the 'mothership' comes first (as it should, IMO). Surely Joe knew the band would be touring this year when he said the CD would be out this spring so maybe other problems have come up that are delaying the release. In any event, we are eagerly awaiting it, so I sure hope it comes out this year.

sodascouts
02-23-2011, 12:54 PM
Hopefully all the encouragement from the callers a bit ago will give him an impetus to get on with it. He has said there is very little left to do, so it shouldn't interfere with the "mothership" too terribly! The guys had no issues with Expando so I imagine they do not have a problem with solo albums being released while the Eagles are on "active duty" as long as it does not interfere with the time commitment the Eagles require.

MikeA
02-23-2011, 05:50 PM
Man, I think that if I were Joe and the thing was that close to being ready for delivery, I'd be seriously considering pumping it up....dropping out some "snippets" from songs on the proposed release. Get the potential market all pumped up with it so that once announced he would be flooded with pre-orders!

I mean, I'm already on the list for all intents and purposes, but if I could hear some of the "tone" of the album, friends of mine who might not otherwise get on the wagon might start drooling in anticipation!

From yur lips to Joe's (Irving's?) ears!! There's some very tantilizing comments being made by people in the know about how good it is. Lucy's said he's taken his music to a whole new level....Ringo says it rocks like crazy. As they say, good things come to those who wait....I'm just a lil bit tired of waiting, but sounds like it's going to be worth it. I'm needin' me some new Joe. Anytime now would be fine.

Amazon has a ton of artists that they've bundled a best-of cd and called it Icon-whomever. At first I thought it was for women, 'cause it was for Cher, Sheryl Crow, etc. But now there's Clapton, BB King, Bryan Adams, bunches of 'em. A marketing ploy to reboot greatest hits I'm guessing, but they're priced right.

He still does have the Eagles to consider. Winter 2012.... that isn't until December next year. That does mean he won't be competing with the Frey & Henley albums.

It's a great title, although with my heritage I would spell it 'Analogue Man' but this comes after a previous album by him which I would spell 'There Goes The Neighbourhood'.

“We don't want to become a Vegas lounge act,” he said. “We're not done yet, but we need a new show. Everybody's seen our show. ... I think we're going to maybe do a retrospective, almost like a documentary. We're gonna dig up old songs from ‘Desperado' and ‘On the Border,' and we have tons of footage and video stuff. So we're gonna put that all together as a visual from just the early days and play music from the various periods while you're watchin' that."

Joe Walsh was interviewed this morning on local Philadelphia radio station WMGK by morning DJ John Dibella. He will be appearing tomorrow night in Atlantic City with BB King. I am really looking forward to this show.

Joe let out this little morsel about his new album...there will be a Funk 50! Joe said it (the Atlantic City Concert)will be a combination of Eagles stuff, James Gang Stuff and a preview of his new album. He will be accompanied by a band of musicians that all hail from Austin, Texas. The interview has not yet been put up for podcast, but you can be sure as soon as it is, I will put up a link.

I heard a dj on the radio mention something Joe had said in an interview about his new album. Joe said that the band never played together in the studio to record the album and that that was very weird to him. Each person went in and did their tracks, then it was put together digitally. That's why he called it Analog Man.

Freypower

In other words it was recorded the same way LROOE was.

It seems a shame that he seems to have backed away from playing any of the tracks on this tour when he has the perfect opportunity to do so. All we have heard was that Personal Manager Blues that was on YouTube & there has been nothing since then.

http://www.eastvalleytribune.com/get_out/music/article_77ce9a40-01b4-11e1-85cd-001cc4c03286.html

The album, which Walsh describes as a “sober observation” on the world around him blended with a little bit of humor and references to his past, is being produced by Jeff Lynne, former ELO musician and Walsh’s close friend. It will be the 10th solo release for Walsh, and include songs like “Wrecking Ball,” “I’m Just Lucky That Way,” “One Day at a Time” and “Funk Fifty”

Wrecking Ball is the title of Bruce Springsteen's forthcoming album.

(Give me the Neil Young song of the same name any day).

As the Eagles celebrate 40 years this year, Walsh says that it's probable that fans will get to see a "retrospective show" from the group to mark the occasion. With 'Analog Man' tentatively plotted for a mid-year release, it looks like Joe Walsh will be very busy this year!

So even a mid-year release date for 'Analog Man' is "tentative" according to this article. But, I like the sound of this anyway. If the solo work has to be put on hold for the mothership's 40 year anniversary, I'm down with that. It'll just give us something to look forward to later.

I wish Glenn had not been so definite about 'Valentine's Day', then.

They knew very well the 40 year thing was coming up when they started work on these albums. If this was the priority then why were any announcements about solo albums made at all?

Henley Honey
01-24-2012, 09:38 AM
I'm not so sure that the solo work will be postponed. I remember Don Henley saying in a fairly recent interview that there would be a burst of activity in 2012 from the Eagles. I'll go back and check the thread when I have more time, but I'm 99.5% positive he used the term "burst of activity" about upcoming releases. I'm staying positive.

Found it. VA posted a link in Post #709 on the Don in the Press Thread from an interview he gave on 9/29/11. In it, DH said:
"A 40th anniversary burst of activity is due in 2012."
On his solo album: "I hope to get it out next Spring."
On upcoming Eagles' plans: Spring 2012 will mark the 40th anniversary of the Eagles' debut on the airwaves. We've got several projects in the works, including a documentary, more touring and, in a couple of years a theatrical production based on our musical catalog."

Joe's "tentative release date" of mid-year seems to back up DH's Spring 2012 statement. I'm goint to think postitively and excitedly anticipate Springtime!!!

Guess you have to get used to the fact that when Americans refer to spring it will be your autumn, FP. I know that whole this-side-of-the-equator bias must be upsetting. ;)

While our Spring is indeed before mid-year, again, these are estimates. This is common practice for these guys. LROOE came out like a year after the initial estimate for it.

I don't remember Glenn being so definitive about Valentine's Day. Yes, he gave it as an estimate, but it's not like he said "I swear by all that is holy that it will be out on Feb. 14!" In fact even that very evening I told you that you shouldn't count on it coming out on that exact date, remember?

It's not upsetting; that's why I said your spring is earlier than we are now apparently being told any solo albums will be released. From what I am reading if anything is released it may now be during your autumn (or 'fall' if you insist).

As for you telling me that I shouldn't count on After Hours being released on that exact date, I'm sure you did, but I was not on the same planet that night. I did have hopes for a while, which is why I made that signature, but I suppose it was wrong to be so certain. Still, being human and having waited so long..... wouldn't it have been nice if JUST ONCE it could have happened.

Also, Joe, just FYI.....If you ever need a guitar player for your band...I'm available - just sayin'. ;) Plus I know all of those songs already. Well, the old ones anyway - I could learn the new ones quickly though. And I'd be great too because I can do the twin lead thing on songs like LBG and LITFL rather than just playing 4 chords behind the solo (nothing against his current player, LOL). I need to move to California where I'm more visible and actually around those people where they can hear me. :D It isn't very good being in the country in a small Illinois town where the closest town only has 1,000 people in it.

There's a blurb about Analog Man in the latest Rolling Stone!

Hard-won happiness is all over Walsh's 10th solo album - his first since getting sober in the Nineties and getting married in 2008. "In my years of addiction, I really withdrew," he says. "I've come out of that." Co-produced by Jeff Lynne, the disc ranges from the Indian-ragga-influenced "The Band Played On" to the twangy "Lucky That Way" - both of which feature Walsh's new brother-in-law, Ringo Starr, on drums. "I'm on the perimeter of the Beatles family, and they really take care of their own," says Walsh. "It's taken my whole life up a notch to be around them."

The first thing I heard was the DJ saying that Joe's album was coming out June 5 and that she knew some people who had heard some of the stuff off of it and it is going to be fantastic! She went on to say that the Eagles were currently touring overseas. Anyway....I knew that you guys would already know all of this. It just made me homesick for The Border so here I am! Like I said, I'm just home for lunch right now but hope you all are doing okay. I think of you often. I'll try to come back soon!

Hi everybody! I just jumped in the car to head home for lunch and had the XM radio tuned to Classic Vinyl.

Here's to Joe's new album coming out!
OMG, Cathy, I heard the exact same thing! Just before the DJ said it, Turn To Stone was playing. I was just getting ready to post it in the 'hearing the Eagles unexpectedly' thread! Glad you're back and hope you come back often...

Good point, Dreamer, I didn't think about that. Especially as he just did some recording with them. Maybe there will be two versions? A solo version and JG version. And maybe number 51 as well?

It's very interesting that he calls "Lucky That Way" a sequel to "Life's Been Good" - makes me even more interesting in hearing it. The way he describes a few of the other songs sparks additional interest as well. He sounds so excited about the project. "It feels good to play something fresh." I'm definitely going to make every effort to see one of these shows, even if I have to drive a bit.... and of course buy at least one copy of the album!

Oh wow! I've heard it then! First time they played it on ESPN, I was reading something as well and I sat up straight and thought, "That's Joe Walsh. What song is that?" The next time I'm thinking, "Is that some prototype remix?" Given the album name, it's ironic that one reason I knew it wasn't Funk #49 was that it was obviously digitally recorded. I don't think I've ever heard more than 15 - 20 seconds of it, but it was an incredible 15 to 20 seconds!

Thanks for posting, so much is made clearer now and I'm glad I wasn't losing my mind. Over that.

First, how retro is interviewer Andy Greene - referring to new releases as "LP's"?

I never realized that the reason he didn't put out a new album was to protect his sobriety. That's a pretty darn good reason.

I can't believe it's been over three years since he married Marjorie. Kudos to her for all she has done for Joe.

That chronological Eagles show with video makes me breathless just thinking about it. As much as I enjoyed Atlanta, as I sat there watching them do the same-old-same-old, I thought "Maybe I've seen this set enough times and it's time to put the Eagles concert money into my Fleetwood Mac fund" (Stevie and Lindsey are both touring but I had not planned to travel beyond a six-hour radius for them; no flights). Now that money is going back into my future-Eagles-show fund, lol.

My lyrics aren't so abstract, and I'm not hiding behind my humor. I'm letting people in and letting them know who the real Joe is. It's a little scary, but it's a good feeling.

You know, armchair psychologist that I am, I always thought Joe was hiding behind his humor at times. He is being so real now, admitting to this and letting us see his vulnerable side. I have so much respect for this guy. Joe is DA MAN.

I have SiriusXM, but I did not listen this morning. Mostly because it was really only on Sirius and I only have that in the car, XM is in the house. I'm shocked, I don't know why, at how many websites there are that do nothing but discuss what is on each Howard Stern show. Any search using the terms Joe Walsh, Howard Stern, and today's date will get you a list, but after looking at about ten of them, this seems to be the only one with more than a paragraph about Joe. As always with Howard Stern, all the warnings about language and content apply.
