I came across this thread on another message board (Warning: Not everyone is a Frey fan and there is some vulgar language):

Do Hip Hop Artists Owe Glenn Frey for the the gangsta concept video? (http://www.soundopinions.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=9950&st=0)

I thought it was pretty interesting. And the video of Jay-Z sampling You Belong to the City in his song "The City is Mine" is pretty cool. Glenn's also been sampled by Coolio in "The Nature of the Business" - I'm sure you guys can guess which song was sampled, lol.

Well, we know how much he loves black music. When asked about rap by Arsenio Hall he was diplomatic. He said he preferred more traditional R&B because it was more 'melodic'.

That was very interesting Soda. Actually, I laughed out loud at the H is O skit. But be warned if you decide to watch - it is very raunchy, but distastefully funny. I wonder if Glenn ever saw this! Oh my - I'd love to know what he thinks of it!

Ugh, I found that skit very unfunny. I hate that loser actor who supposedly "portrayed" Glenn. I think they must have drawn Glenn's name out of a hat because the skit has nothing to do with him other than they used that name for it. Good impersonations at least have SOME relevance to the real-life guy.

I haven't seen these videos yet. Yesterday my internet connection didn't work as it should. Hopefully I can watch it today.

That's interesting, FP. I remember I've read somewhere he loves black music. Actually R&B is also my favourite style of music. Oh, that means I have something in common with Glenn. :D

The funny thing is he prefers the Memphis Stax sound rather than his native Detroit's Motown sound, even though we know what a wonderful job he did of the Temptations' My Girl.

Any excuse to run the B.B. King photo again.
