I know I left out Watching TV (with Roger Waters) because there was only room for 10 entries, but you can vote for it as a "write-in candidate" - just say so in your reply to this post. Here it is if you haven't heard it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2ik6T-oWoXM

I also left out

Garden Party (http://youtu.be/3Fca2OlJyws) (with John Fogerty and Timothy B. Schmit) because that's three singers, not two
Bein' Green (with Kermit the Frog) because Kermit only sings on, like, two lines

Does anyone know of any others I've missed?

"Leather and Lace" - no question for me...

I really love Leather & Lace too, but I've voted for "Inside Out" which for me just edges it out at the moment. The video is just gorgeous too.

Well Leather & Lace is probably my favorite as well, but only by the slightest of margins. Since I figure Leather & Lace will easily win this poll, I decided to vote for Sometimes Love Just Ain't Enough, which is a very close second for me. After those two, It's So Easy and Inside Out are probably my next favorites although I like almost all of them.

You're also missing Can Love Stand the Test by Bonnie Riatt from everyone's "favorite" movie Country Bears.

That's not my vote, though. I'm going back to vote for Leather & Lace.

Thanks Judy - I knew I'd probably forgotten at least one song.

I just looked on YouTube and found a clean version of that song with a montage that actually uses some photos from DHO! lol!

There's also "Straight to the Heart of Love" but that's not a duet so much as a group thing.

Well, my favourite is definitely Calling Me (Kenny Rogers) closely followed in joint second by Walkaway Joe, Inside Out and Sometimes Love Just Ain't Enough.......I'd never heard "Passin' Thru" or "Can Love Stand The Test" before, so Thanks for that Nancy! I liked both of them
I'm afraid the rest of them including Leather & Lace don't do an awful lot for me .........please don't shoot me! :fear:

Thanks for posting that - I was lucky enough to hear it live, and it was amazing! Don sings it with such feeling that I wonder if he relates to it personally.

I went for Inside Out as my favourite. I love the playful Don at the end of the video.

I hadn't heard the duet with Sheryl Crowe before but now I have I love it and would maybe put that 2nd fave.

sodascouts
06-06-2011, 12:09 PM
The Sheryl Crow one is on her 2002 CD C'mon C'mon. It not only has Don on "It's So Easy" but also Stevie Nicks on the title track as well as on "Diamond Road," and it's really good. I especially recommend "Steve McQueen" and "Safe and Sound." I suggest folks check it out!

http://www.amazon.com/CMon-Sheryl-Crow/dp/B0000636UN/ref=sr_1_1?s=music&ie=UTF8&qid=1307376277&sr=1-1

To get myself back on topic: You know it's rumored that Don Henley pursued Sheryl Crow hard when she was one of his backup singers on the End of the Innocence Tour. Unfortunately, she rebuffed him... but maybe that's why he can sing that song with such passion. ;)

Thanks for that Nancy  and the extra tidbit. ;)

Bit off topic but I can have the one track in this poll for 69 pence, the album for £2.15 + £1.26 shipping or download the album for £7.49 !!!! Hmmm decisions. ;)

No question for me, Leather & Lace is my favorite!

I have Sheryl's album and really like it too. It's So Easy comes in at 2nd.

My second favorite after "Leather and Lace" is probably "Sometimes Love Just Ain't Enough" with "Walkaway Joe" third, although I almost hesitate to classify the latter song as a duet since he has no solo verse or anything. However, his voice is so prominent he even got included in the video, so I guess it counts. ;)

OK, I won't shoot you, but I'm afraid you must submit to a Stevie tambourine smack!

;)

If you wanna feel better, just imagine Don looking deeply into your eyes and singing the "You in the moonlight" part.... :pimp:

I actually like that version better than the original!

Speaking of Stevie, another duet she did live with Don on their "Two Voices" tour was Stop Draggin' My Heart Around.

Not sure how to vote, but my favorite Henley-Nicks duet is actually "The Highwayman."

That's a write-in vote. ;)

I adore that song too, but I don't really think of it as a duet in the traditional sense, although Don's harmonies are prominent.

It's one of my favorite Stevie songs. So beautiful and poetic. "She out in the distance sees him against the sky: A pale and violent rider; a dream begun in wine."

Plus, I can't but think Don might have inspired it, at least partially. Some of the lyrics really sound applicable to their relationship. She has said that he awed her at first; she thought of him as a "rock star" even though she was his peer, which works with "he in all his glory was far ahead of her." Though their relationship was passionate, it was not built to last, which fits with the other lyrics of the song. Certainly one could draw a parallel to "Desperado" in the characterization of the man in the song.

Anyone who wants to check it out can hear it here:

Thanks for posting that, Soda. I guess you're right. It's less a duet than I remembered it to be. Still a great song though. I always loved Don's harmony.

The more I listen to it, the more I love Break Each Other's Heart Again with Reba. I don't know if it's the lyrics, or if it's their vocals, or maybe it's both....but when I listen to it I can almost picture them in the scenario that is taking place in the song. Maybe that's weird. lol Regardless, I love it!

I've started listening to Break Each Other's Hearts Again over the last few months (I'm a late starter with the solo stuff let alone the "extra" stuff they've done with other artists). I'm loving it.

I think I originally voted for Inside Out. I'm not sure that I'd change my vote, but it's probably a close call between several of them anyway... picking just one was HARD.

Of the list here, mine is also Leather & Lace with Stevie. But if I could add a "not official" duet that was never actually recorded but was performed, it would be Don & Steve Winwood doing Hold On, I'm Coming. Absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE it!!!!

Cool vote...

I voted for the Patty Smyth duet, as I think it was the first Henley duet I ever heard, but my vote would have been for Can Love Stand The Test with Bonnie if it was on the list... Not sure why but it's my favourite.

I am also a fan of Roger's... (I used to think they should do a remake of the movie Grumpy Old Men with Don and Roger one day...!)
Amused To Death is one of my all time favourite albums and I love Don's contribution.

Steve - thanks for teaching me something today. I've never really been a huge Pink Floyd follower, so I totally missed this album. Therefore, I looked it up on Wikipedia and You Tube to get some info about it. In case I'm not the only one that has never heard this, here's is 'Watching TV', the duet with Don ...

I love 'Calling Me'! Don's voice is so gorgeous and the romantic, nostalgic lyrics make me sigh. I love the vulnerability in the song.
