Our church youth club was just starting and we could only afford four records, one of which was 'Here comes summer' so I can never forget it.

My selective memory :hilarious: has forgotten the other three though one might have been Living Doll, by the afore-mentioned Cliff Richard.

Does Long Hot Summer count? It isn't a 'happy' summer song.

My childhood heroes Sherbet had a big hit called Summer Love which is still a favourite summer song of mine. Then years later the singer had a hit with a song called One Summer.

There is a Knopfler song called A Night In Summer Long Ago which isn't really one of my favourites but I should mention it. Also you can't get more summery than Dire Straits' Twisting By The Pool.

Band On The Run is one of my ten favourite songs of all time, but I never thought of it as being 'summery'.

Another one is Neil Diamond's Desiree ('it was the third of June/on that summer's day); bear in mind that the seasons are reversed down here.
