Just found this, though he died over this past weekend.

He was only 60 years old. I loved this band. I learned how to sing harmony through their songs and did a mean version of Don't Cross the River. Maybe someone (who is not electronically challenged) can post a few songs from You Tube? Thanks.

I hadn't heard this-- very sad!! He was only with them for a few years then turned to Christian music and was very well known for his stuff and did a lot of it.

Here's his most famous song with America.

Very sad. I loved some of their songs. I Need You is my favorite, but I don't think he was the lead singer on it.

He was the high harmony singer in the band and a gifted multi-instrumentalist. He played bass on Horse With No Name and lap steel on Sister Golden Hair. Here is the biggest hit he wrote for America:

I had this on a google alert but had no access to a PC or laptop so couldn't post. Just not the same on an Android. :eyebrow:

Very sad to hear. I have Ventura Highway as my DH's ringtone. Love that song as well as Horse With No Name.

RIP Dan.

RIP Dan - This is very sad - another musician lost too young. My thoughts are with his loved ones.
