If I hear an Eagles related sequence on my iPod I will post it here. If other people wish to mention hearing Eagles songs on the radio, feel free.
The reason I decided to start this is because this morning I heard the following songs in succession:

All She Wants To Do Is Dance
You Belong To The City
The Girl From Yesterday
Little Tin God

Not bad eh? And then I heard three Bob Dylan songs, one of which was one of my Top 10 of all time, Like A Rolling Stone.

Thanks, Fp! I had thought about this, but hadn't taken the time to do it!

My alarm clock woke me up this morning playing Sunset Grill! 8)

Probably I can't contribute much. German radio stations don't play much the Eagles. Or I listen to the wrong station. :?

I wake up to Randy (singing Love Me Or Leave Me Alone) on my CD alarm and then again 10 minutes later on my cellphone

At the moment, yes, I'm so tired, I just go back to sleep. I keep my phone up on a shelf so I have to get out of bed to turn it off. Once I'm out, I'm OK

I go to sleep listening to Glenn singing 'The One You Love' any night that I'm on my own (Hubby works about 3 nights a week). It just relaxes me completely and then I'm gone

After lunch yesterday Witchy Woman played on the radio and then later I heard RMW!

My favorite classic rock station plays lots of Eagles, Don, Joe, and once in a while, Glenn and Poco! 8)

Awesome. My classic rogk station plays lots of Eagles, Don, and Joe too.
Every once in a while they'll sneak in some Glenn, but they don't do it enough for my taste. My Oldies station plays a lot of Eagles stuff too. Also our soft rock station plays quite a bit of Don and the Eagles. And Jack FM too plays Eagles, Don, Glenn, and Joe.

My local Jimmy John's sandwich shop plays Joe all the time. I went there yesterday and heard Turn to Stone, and on previous trips I've heard Life's Been Good and Rocky Mountain Way. I asked the cashier if they were listening to a station, and she said she thought the speakers were hooked up to someone's iPod. Someone with good taste!

I was going out with Hubby yesterday and in deference to the fact that it was his birthday let him run with the music in the car rather than playing Eagles. A request show was on. The first request was for the Eagles and the DJ played 'Love will keep us alive' :D There's no escaping them!

Thank goodness - cause I don't want to! :D

And unfortunately, I can't play the iPod game. I think I must be one of the three people left on earth that doesn't own an iPod. But, this is so typical of me - I'm usually one of the last to buy anything new.

I can't really play either, Dreamer. I have an iPod shuffle with about 120 tracks on and since I have all Glenn's albums on it, plus selected Eagles, Don and Joe tracks, I always get good sequences! Sad, isn't it! I do listen to other music, but generally in the car or on the radio.

Don't feel bad dreamer, I don't have an ipod either! I guess I just don't know what I'm missing, cause I don't feel the need to have one either!

I didn't feel the need for an iPod either, despite the fact that they're practically ubiquitous on campus. Then, I won a iPod Shuffle for being the first person to renew my lease at my apartment complex, and I thought it was cool, but it didn't hold a lot of music. That was fine with me, until it was time to visit my parents in Dubai. In the past, I'd bring a bulky portable CD player and a few CDs for the 17-hour flight. Now, all I had to do was bring one little iPod! Sadly, the shuffle didn't hold a charge for that long back then, so I bought an iPod mini - and here I am now with an 8 gig nano!

I don't have an ipod either. I went for a Sony Walkman (I've always had Sony ones). It's a 20 gb one and it's beautiful, fits in your hand nicely (it's not square like ipods are) and it's electric blue. At the moment I have about 900 songs on it.

Freypower
03-31-2007, 06:56 PM
I adore my iPod. But I've got the 60GB which holds 15000 tracks - and our hard drive is nearly full so it's down to 2000 (the highest I got was nearly 6000). And I won't put it on manual uploads because I want the library available and I want the playlists to upload. So I have to do a lot of rotation. I was thinking that when the new version with a phone is released here next year I might buy it and delete iTunes from our hard drive and reinstall it on our second hard drive.

So have I and it also holds tons of pics. So I've downloaded a slide show which are entirely of Glenn and have have 'The One You Love' playing in the background. Anytime I have a few mins on my own (very rarely these days!) I set it going and gaze away :D Pure Bliss!

I also have photos on mine, obviously, but I limit it to about 40 per time. I constantly rotate the photos. I think the most I ever had was about 70 at the time those wonderful Amgen photos surfaced. I like doing that too - watching the slideshow of photos. 8)

A VERY nice sequence.

First I heard Shame On The Moon with Glenn's beautiful harmonies. Then I heard the following:

Keep On Tryin'
Witchy Woman
Damn It, Rose

And yes, these will be in my next Movie Soundtrack sequence!

Also I successfully moved iTunes to our second hard drive! Now I can start filling the iPod up again! :D

Me too, because I don't have an ipod. I'm glad Dreamer and you haven't one either. So I can't play that game.
Today I was lucky to hear HC on the radio. I was just going to put a Keith CD in the player but before I searched for good music on the radio. I always do that before l listen to a CD. Don't know why, maybe because I could miss something good. Even if I've heard HC thousand times I couldn't change to CD before the end.

No! its not easy is it! Woke up to BOS this morning. :D They're doing a top 500 all time songs on our local station over the weekend. Some very good songs. BOS was just outside the top 100 and Soda, Everywhere was no 103. Hoping I might hear one or 2 of the more popular Eagles songs, as the day wears on, but can't tune in exclusively all day.

The highest placed of Eagles songs was HC, placed at number 12 :D . As it was a public poll, it shows there is some support out there for Eagles music. I'm hoping they'll post the entire 500 on their website as I'd be interested to see what other songs with Eagles interest were there but no luck so far. :(

Well I haven't listened to my iPod recently, but I have to share what happened on Sunday. I was headed back from Tahoe, just leaving the mountains and I was listening to the radio. The station was called, of all things, the Eagle. :P The DJ was skwaking and I wasn't really paying attention as he said something about buried tracks....then Chug All Night came on! We went into a small cafe last Wednesday. It was rather packed and the radio/cd was on only very low, but I managed to discern a live version of Desperado. I think Glenn  was singing it but its volume was too low to decipher from where. Hubby suggested we go (he couldn't hear anything over the noise) but he got a "Not if you value your life" look. I was rewarded because the follow up was Lying Eyes :D . The next songs were not Eagles although they were good. I mean to go back on my own soon to do some more 'research'

I think Struggler's Blues is very funny! I had to listen to it again after yor recent post, FP. First time around I thought it was about guitar playing  , but now I realise it's about a more important part of Glenn's life.
On Saturday, I was half listening to Live Earth while cooking supper, and thought I heard The Sad Cafe. I rushed to the TV where something else was on, then decided I was hallucinating, until older son put me at rest by saying he'd been playing it. Guess what came up next when I put my iPod on? Good grief! It's been a month! I finally got The Girl From Yesterday (live) and then Workin' It. I now have 4500 tracks on there which means I am less likely to get doubles by artists & related artists.

That said, as well as Eagles related doubles I may now get more Beatles/Lennon, McCartney or Harrison, Dire Straits/Knopfler, and Led Zeppelin/Plant. In fact I have had all three of those. This morning I had McCartney's Heaven On A Sunday and then the Beatles' Rain. For what it's worth the others were Knopfler's Song For Sonny Liston/Water Of Love, and Plant's Sea Of Love/Boogie With Stu (one of my absolute favourite Zep tracks).

I also heard Longbranch Pennywhistle's Run Boy Run which was very interesting to hear in the wake of How Long. Glenn sounded very cool on it (I haven't heard it often - only put the CD on the iPod recently).

I've got something interesting to report about my iPod. Yesterday I stood on one of my earpieces  and thought 'how will I survive until tomorrow before I can get to the store to buy new headphones'?

Well, I suddenly wondered if my old Sony Discman headphones would work with the iPod. Not only did they work, but the sound suddenly improved by about 1000% percent. I couldn't believe it. I wondered if when I had to replace the unit after only two days when I first got it, if the headphones had been faulty as well? Have I been listening to this tinny sound unnecessarily for 18 months? I still feel obliged to go and buy a new set of the familiar white phones to see if there is a difference, but I will use the Sony phones instead and keep Apple's as a spare.

SweetHolly

Well there you go. :? I got Sennheisers. 8) You have to reallly shove them deep into your ears. I haven't decided which is the right size - small, medium or large. I think there is more clarity with these but I haven't yet heard a song with which I'm totally familiar.

Once I get used to these, every time I see white headphones I will want to shout out 'get decent phones, dude'! :grooving: :partytime:

I bought a new stereo for the car recently as I wanted to have one that I could plug the ipod into. After it was installed yesterday I was tuning it in and came across a Dublin station called 'Country Mix' which I hadn't been aware of although it does have some DJ's that I've heard of on other stations. Anyway I had it on this morning and the DJ kept saying to 'Hang on for the Eagles'. Needless to say I did. And was rewarded by 'No More Cloudy Days' a few minutes later. It really felt good to hear an Eagles and particularly a Glenn  song on live radio, and NMCD is one of my favourites. Towards lunchtime I also heard NKIT. I'll be keeping that station on from here on in!

PEF on that new station yesterday evening :) . And the DJ also commented afterwards about being 'very excited' at the prospect of new material from the Eagles very soon.

Interesting: All the Eagles songs that I have heard on that Country Mix station have been Glenn  songs :D

Do you mind if I put a radio event here? I hope not.

Anyway, this morning my radio snooze alarm went off to Please Come Home For Christmas! The first alarm was some other classic rock song and I don't even remember what. I always hit the snooze button once. Then when it sounded it was PCHFC! I think that is amazing that I would get that song on my radio alarm! I mean how many classic rock songs can they play at any time during the day and I get that one on my alarm! Unbelievable! It brought a big smile to my face and I listened to the whole song before I turned it off! It just made me feel great at 6:10 a.m. A great way to start the day! :D :blueblob:

I had another good one. I heard Glenn's The Heat Is On from Tokyo. This was followed by one of THE great songs - the Temptations' Papa Was A Rolling Stone - and then the Eagles doing The Heat Is On in London in 1995! Very cool.

The last Eagles-related song I heard on the iPod in 2007 was Joe's Dear John. The first in 2008 was Longbranch Pennywhistle's Kite Woman (well you have to take what you can get). :?

When I hear the first proper Eagles/Glenn/Don/Joe songs I'll note them but I may also mention the first songs I heard this year by other favourite artists.

Van Morrison - Georgia On My Mind
Bob Dylan - Meet Me In The Morning
Byrds - She Has A Way

Cool thread here!!
My husband called a little while ago from work-my ringtone is Rocky Mountain Way right now.
As far as Ipod--couldn't live without it!! My husband calls mine the EaglePod. I carry mine in my car all the time. I have thousands of songs but very seldom have it on shuffle. I have a seperate playlist of nothing but Eagles and their solo stuff so play that more times than not. We took a road trip on Sunday and had it playing LROOE. First time my husband had heard most of it. He wasn't very impressed because he says most of it is to "Country" for him. What does he know anyways! On the way back home, I changed it over to play the older stuff for him.

Freypower
05-21-2008, 07:47 PM
I normally make a playlist about every six weeks when I get bored with the shuffle and feel I have to hear 'certain' songs. I always do big playlists for Don and Glenn's birthdays. For the record my iPod contains 6760 tracks at the moment.

glenneaglesfan
06-15-2008, 05:07 PM
I'm relatively new to this, as I had my ipod nano for Christmas. Unlike hubby, I nearly always have it on shuffle. I have 80 albums and over 1100 tracks so far.
This morning - Desperado (Glenn) followed by Part Of Me, Part Of You. This afternoon, You Belong To The City, then Long Hot Summer. 8)

Glennsallnighter

Nice selection GEF!

I sometimes leave my ipod (well Creative Zen! Its not strictly ipod!) on random where I have nearly 2000 tracks on it as well as lots of Glenn  and Eagles videos and the entire LID concert.

I tend to make playlists, mainly faster 'Glenn  ' music which I can exercise to and then some of his slower ballads for relaxing. I've also made a separate LROOE list with the songs where Glenn  takes lead to which I'm quite partial! :inlove:

Mrs Frey
06-17-2008, 02:46 AM
Your selections are all wonderful. I listen to my mp3 player every morning and evening on the train to and from work. I don't have many albums on it, but all Glenn's  albums as well as "Eagles: The Complete Greatest Hits" and LROOE are on there, so needless to say I listen to a lot of Glenn  and Eagles music every working day! :D

A couple of weeks ago I had the iPod play all Glenn songs at random. Today I'll be starting the Eagles. I thought there would be enough time before I have to create the Don/Eagles playlist for July 22. I thought I would do the Beatles in August.

Living In Darkness (a huge favourite of mine)

I had a double of Good Morning Good Morning and All You Need Is Love the previous day. At the very start of this 'round' I heard Band On The Run and I also heard Crackin' Up from the Russian album. So he got there, although I admit I didn't 'choose' any songs. After Band On The Run I was happy enough.

Highlighted part: Oh you are so clever, FP! "The Night Before" is one of my favourite Beatles songs.

That's a great selection you got in an unplanned tribute to Paul, although to be fair "Good Morning Good Morning" and "All You Need Is Love" are more Lennon than McCartney! No matter - it's all good. I love "If You Wanna" and "Calico Skies" - "Flaming Pie" is a great album. I admit that I don't know "Crackin' Up" - I don't own the Russian album, although I do have about two or three of those tracks on a "various" cassette.

For a change I have some sequences to share. I got two that made me very happy this morning:

"You Are Not Alone" (Eagles)
"She Can't Let Go" (Glenn Frey)
"Best Of My Love" (Eagles)
"I Don't Want To Hear Anymore" (Eagles)

These tracks were sandwiched between songs by my two other overwhelming favourite artists: "I'm Coming Home" by Elvis Presley and "I'll Be Back" by The Beatles. Sigh.

The second sequence was the following:

"I Found Somebody" (Glenn Frey)
"Lyin' Eyes" (Eagles)
"You Can't Do That" (The Beatles)

My iPod has packed up. The battery is no longer holding a charge. I'm about to return it, although Apple's guarantee excludes battery failure. It's 10 months old. The battery is supposed to sustain 400 charges - mine has had about one a week, ie less than 50.

Last night I went back to my old 500mB shuffle and went for a random selection. I got 'I've Got Mine' followed by 'Money' by Pink Floyd - quite similar sentiments - "Keep your hands off my stack"

It has been quite some time since I've had a 'double' at random (when they're in playlists I don't count them). And here I was, with all the Glenn songs assigned their own photos, ready to start giving his Eagles lead vocal songs photos, and I haven't heard any of them since last month.:ack:

(The last two Eagles related songs I heard were Fast Company and Rocky Mountain Way, but separately).

Hey guys,
Im reviving this thread cuz I wanted to ask ya'll for recommendations. I'm putting together a Christmas playlist for my pod. I want to make it a fun rock and roll playlist.
OFCOURSE the boys will be on it with "Please come home for Christmas" and "Funky New Year" and Steven Tyler has "Rockin On Top Of The World" from Polar Express, and I've got Rock and Roll Christmas V4 which has Moody Blues and George Thorogood, Elton John, Bon Jovi, The Kinks, Billy Squire, The Waitresses, etc... SO.. Im asking.. what am I missing? I usually make my play lists a few hours worth *G* If ya'll have any suggestions, please let me know!
Thanks!

I never consider the Christmas season as having started until I've heard "C"hristmas Rapping" by the Waitresses--i'm glad you've got it! I would put "Santa Claus is Coming to Town" by Springsteen; also "Little Drummer Boy" by David Bowie and Bing Crosby. I'll try to think of some others, but those come immediately to mind.

I love the Pogues and Kirsty McColl's 'Fairytale of New York'. I heard that in McDonalds the other day and decided 'Christmas is coming'. I would always put it on a Christmas compilation.

Last year we had a 'Favourite Christmas Songs' thread. As we now have double the amount of members it might be a good idea to resurrect it!!

You guys have inspired me with all this Christmas music talk. I will have a couple spare hours this afternoon and I am going to set down and download a bunch of Christmas songs onto Itunes and my ipod. Maybe if I start listening to Christmas music it will get me in the Christmas spirit. Nothing else is. I hate to admit it, but I am one of the biggest scrouges around!

Ticky -another one I thought of that I like real well is I Saw Momma Kissing Santa Claus by John Mellencamp. I love his little daughter's voice at the end of it.

The Beach Boys have a lot of good Christmas songs. I love Little Saint Nick and Winter Symphony (which was from 1977). Also Morning Christmas (which was from 1977) is good. It's one of Dennis' songs.

I also love Jingle Bells by Steve Lukather. It's really cool.

I just thought I'd mention I finally worked out how to use iTunes 8's 'Genius' function yesterday. You have to have all the songs in your library checked and then you select a song. If Genius is available to it it creates a playlist (you can have 25, 50, 75 or 100 songs). I was playing around with it and some of the playlists I got were mouth-watering. I can see a lot of self-indulgence on my part next year instead of faithfully trying to hear all 7060 tracks.

I just found a way to put Farewell I on my ipod. I re-recorded it in six hour mode to shrink the size of the file. I then used a program called "Handbrake" to encode it and I saved it in the ipod "mv4" format. I loaded it on to the ipod and it played perfectly! Next time I'm stuck in an airport, like I was in Houston last summer, you know what I'll be watching on my ipod.

This is NOT the thread I was looking for. I thought there was one something like "What is on your iPod"

Well, I don't have an iPod. I have a cell phone that I'm adding 8gb of memory to in order to get the music I like compressed to 128-bit and copied over to the phone. The memory isn't "in" yet, but already I've converted right at 3gb of MP3's.

In doing this, I made a horrible discovery! I don't have "Eagles" debut album! Oh, I have it, but for some reason, I must never have converted it to digital MP3. I have some ripping to do.

I have a general question for other iPod/iTunes users. Since upgrading to Version 9 of iTunes last week I have had immense trouble accessing parts of the iTunes store. It will not load what used to be the shopping cart and is now called the 'wish list' at all and I dread to think what would happen if I tried to click on something to buy it. Has anyone else had this problem? It's only the most basic reason to have iTunes.... to purchase songs.

Brooke

Yes, I don't like the new format at all. I didn't have any trouble finding songs with the old one and now it's crazy.

But I don't know what to do about it. :-x

Freypower
09-16-2009, 07:17 PM
But that's not what I said. My problem is it won't load. It was loading before and now it's back to the bar going halfway along and freezing. Since I did the upgrade I have seen my wish list ONCE. At least I was getting the store to load, and now it isn't even doing that.

Can't give just one sequence because there were to many of them. In my journey Saturday, I realized a couple of things----I really need to get some other artist on my ipod AND I am pathetic!! I put the ipod on shuffle, and I swear the only thing that came up was several in a row from either the Eagles, Zeppelin or Sweet. I finally started skipping them (imagine that :fear:) just to see what else would come up and it was really pathetic! As much as I love music and as many songs as I have in Itunes, my ipod only holds 1500 -2000 songs and there must be 1000 of them that are from those 3 groups. But how do I change that without buying a bigger ipod. I can't be expected to delete  any of the songs on there now can I? :hilarious:

BL (before Larry) I always had the radio going all night long. I'm a very light sleeper and wake up several times a night so music at night was just always a constant for me. Larry couldn't sleep with the music going so instead of giving him his own bedroom, I just turned off the radio. Well I was going thru a C. Crane catalog awhile back and saw a pillow speaker, a little speaker for an ipod or radio that has a soft cushion it fits into that you stick inside your pillow case. You can hear the music but no one else in bed (except 1 of my cats) can. I finally got it and used it for the first time last night. HOW FRICKIN' COOL!!!

My whole purpose for posting this is, every time I woke up last night it was an Eagles or solo song even tho I had the Ipod on shuffle. I heard Hotel California, Sunset Grill, POMPOY, Downtime, White Boy & Gimme What You Got. Strange that those were the only times I woke up last night. Seriously! Do you think it's a subconscious thing? It has to be right? :headscratch:

Oh, and the whole cat thing? When I got up to use the...well anyways, when I came back, Ringo was sitting in my spot just staring at the pillow with his head cocked to one side. The other 2 cats & Rufus didn't seem to notice at all. (Yes, we sleep every night with at least 2-4 animals in the bed with us & when Larry leaves, any that weren't in bed jump in to join me-Sad and disturbing I know!)
